"First of all, I do not like it when the company has you deal with three different people. The gentleman who did the estimate is one of the brothers who supposedly owns the company. Very affable. The company showed up 2 weeks later did a powerwash. Then the crew showed up to do the work. The work was substandard. I really could not believe the number of holes they left up filled with pebbles. They do not do any quality control or inspection of their own work. The crew of three really was a crew of 1 and a half. The one guy does most of the work, but doesn't direct the other two. They mopped adhesive into the pebbles and were more focused on talking then working. The main guy admitted he didn't think the patches came out very good, but asked for a check anyway. He didn't offer any followup. I couldn't walk on it till 24 hours had passed. I was literally astounded as to how sloppy the patches were fixed. i could have done a better job.

I called and complained and got an appt with Brother #2. Rude, unprofessional and condescending. Jackhammer it out? Really? I could have taken a household hammer and knocked out the pebbles.

Its 2011, I don't expect to be talked to so rudely by anyone. Never told the guy that (a) I had in fact operated a jackhammer myself and (b) was in the highway construction biz for over 25 years and (c) married to a civil engineer. Listening to him defend this bad job was some of the most iridiculous stuff I have heard in years.

They came out again and did some patching but it still looks like crap.

I will never use them again.

They sent us a $25 gift certificate to apologize for the rudeness of their rep. I would have rather had a job done right. Shameful that there aren't more pebble companies to compete with the outfit.

"The whole job is taking about 4 months, a little over the time we originally planned. But, we didn't mind since we wanted an excellent outcome which it is."

"Work greatly exceeded original estimate because of poor condition of existing deck. Destruction went quickly/smoothly. Two month interruption when we found out we needed an architect and permits (were told it was not necessary for a re-build). After initially supervising workers, the contractor seldom visited the site. His workers were inexperienced, off-the=street workers who had NEVER built a deck. The end result was unsightly and unfinished- we made the mistake of giving a final payment after he promised to return to correct work. No worker ever came back. Furthermore, we hired one of his sub-contractors to build steps and install an outdoor kitchen. After collecting $1500 and working 2 days we never saw them again either. Yes we have a deck now, but it doesn't look like a $50,000 deck. Although it is mostly composite, he used poor quality wood for fascia and elsewhere. Paint started to peel after 6 months. Not happy with cost, quality, or lack of response."

"Hiring a Contractor

Poway Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
came to me from a friend, who has had a lot of
work done on her home. I knew if she liked him, he would be more than
satisfactory for me.

When you have an old house like I do, the original intended
project quickly morphs into something else entirely. Many homeowners become
suspicious of contractors when they simply tell you the truth. Is that the fault of the contractor your
house is falling apart? Absolutely not.

I knew my overall goal for the project was to restore
structural integrity to the house. I discussed this with
Poway Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
frequently, so he
knew what my priority was. This is critical to a productive relationship with
your contractor.

Knowing my husband wanted to keep expenditures to a minimum,
I would hand

my camera and have him photograph all the deficient areas that
he found. I highly recommend all homeowners do that. You want a record of
before and after. I would show my husband the pictures, we’d approve the cost
via Change order and cross that issue off the list.

We started out with a list of things that needed
replacement: windows, a deck rail, some roof leaks etc. For a home built in 1978, we soon found we
had extensive dry rot. Our roof had been built before the current code and all
our flashing were out of code and hence the leaks.

With the roof, I had

remove the tiles from eave to the
top pitch of the roof. Take some pictures. Sure enough, you could see all the
felt was rotted, no washers around the nails, failed flashings. Can’t argue
with pictures. So we did the roof via RC
Roofing, a

Onto the deck, it was out of code, the surface rotted,
railing rotted, iron work pitted and starting to rust. Again, drag out the camera. The entire deck
got rebuilt, the railing replaced with a composite material that termites

recommended resurfacing the iron work, which turned out
beautiful. I

’t know where he finds his subs, but they are all quality
workmen.

Window replacement was also on the list. The glass company, Glenview Glass and Screen
was quick, neat and did exceptional work.
I wanted them to reinstall a shower enclosure but they came up with a
cost effective substitute which looks way better than what I had planned.

Air conditioning duct work was also an item. His duct work
sub,

Heating and Air,
was simply super. Fast, neat and definitely knows his stuff. They installed a
couple extra ducts in the upper story that more evenly distribute the cool air,
which is really important in Poway during the hot weather.

I was extremely happy with all of the work that
Poway Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
did.
The work was first rate and he uses quality materials. He did some minor items for me with no charge
which was really nice.

My neighbors have commented on the roof, the deck and my new
windows. My only hang-up about writing this review is I

I plan on downsizing in the future. I know I will rip up the

"Apart from doing decks and porches, this company does all types of work where wood is involved. They are also contracted by the pest company with whom we have a service contract to repair termite damaged wood.
Our pest company recently discovered some termite damage in the wooden fascia boards under our eves.
Poway Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
helped us expedite this work with the pest company when they were going through laborious internal procedures for sign off on the work . His guys then came out on a Saturday to complete the work so we could take our upcoming vacation knowing the job was finished.
They arrived on time, were efficient in their work (you cannot tell the wood has been repaired) and left the site clean and tidy.
I cannot praise this company enough - they really know all about customer service. I would definitely recommend them for any wood finishes around the home.
