Pasadena Drain Plumbers Reviews
I waited around for a long time, hearing nothing, and at 2 pm, called to find out the ETA. I was told they were probably going to be a bit later, but he didn't provide an estimate. It sounded like it might be 30 minutes - an hour, but that was it. Around 4:45, I still hadn't heard from anyone, and as I was calling to check again, I saw them drive up.
Here's where I get frustrated and why I lowered their score. The coupon (which the plumber knew I had bought) was for the drain cleaning and pipe video inspection ONLY. Yet, before he even started doing the work, he was recommending that I do a complete hydro jetting at a cost of $150 ( a price he seemed to pull out of thin air, which albeit sounded appropriate, but seemed like he should know anyway). I was hesitant to do hydro jetting on my pipes (not even the ones inside the house, just the ones from the house to the street) without seeing the condition first. Thus, I said, let's wait and see what it looks like on video.
I was told that the "snaking" would only punch a hole in it, and wouldn't clear the problem that well. That's fine, I said, I'll see what I get and then decide. They had to do the snaking twice, because it didn't seem to help much after the first try. After the second, the water drained just fine. Job done, they started to cleanup, again suggesting a hydro-jetting. I AGAIN, suggested / requested they use the video to see how bad it was (since it was part of the coupon anyway). While the first 5-10 feet of the video showed lots of black gunk, it didn't show lots of obstructions. They hit a junction, couldn't go much further than 20 or so feet and pulled out the video saying, "a smaller camera would fit", but then didn't go get the smaller camera from the truck. No explanation why, other than I think they wanted to leave.
As they hadn't quite packed up the camera yet, I suggested they try another access point that was even easier and let directly under / out to the
Based on other reviewers, who said they weren't "sold" a service they didn't need, and that these guys were really honest, I felt disappointed because I felt like the opposite happened. Luckily I didn't fall for it. However, had I been an unsuspecting, and more trusting person, I might have, and then I would have been out $150 instead of $89.
What I do acknowledge and thank, is that they were very reasonable on price, simply because he wanted to be good to Angie's list members. Angie's list membership saved me some dough, making it all worth while.
My other complaint is on punctuality. I understand it's hard to predict / control plumber schedules, but I basically blew off my whole day to wait around thinking that they might come early, then that they might come on time, and almost gave up at 4:45. I had shopping and errands to do, and would have been appreciative if I could have been told, "go about your business, and I'll give you a call when we're sure what time we'll be there".
Other than those things, the plumbers themselves (and
