Work was performed by Remie who was very professional and clearly very knowledgeable. He was about 15 minutes late but he had called ahead to let me know so I wasn't worried. 7 locks were removed and the pins rekeyed in their mobile locksmith van. I had the keys for 6 of the 7 locks from the previous owner. Having the key to the lock makes the rekeying process go a lot easier I was told. I didn't have a key for one of the locks so the tech had to "pick" it in order to be able to rekey it. This didn't slow him down really at all and he moved efficiently through the entire process in about an hour including making 5 copies of the key. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction and provided advice on some other locks as well. Overall a great experience!

I spoke with
for setting up the appointment, the time and date were confirmed the day before.
showed up early and was very professional and thorough with looking over all possible issues that may come up adding new locks and re-keying the existing locks. He was fast and cleaned up after himself.

Locksmith reviews in Orinda

This was the worst experience. They arrived in an unmarked van. The "locksmith" spent about 45 minutes trying to unlock the door (no deadbolt to get throught or anything) and was never able to unlock the door. He did not provide the service so we let him go and refused to pay him the outrageous amount he was charging us (for wasting 45 minutes of our time and never getting the darn door opened). So the guy went back into his van and we went to a neighbor's house. The guy knocked on the neighbor's door and said the owner wanted to talk with us. The owner insisted that we pay and I told him we would be happy to pay if the technician were able to unlock the door but since he wasn't it didn't make sense to pay. It got ugly from there. The owner was extremely rude and even cursed at me! It was horrible.

The service provided was excellent and the 2 men (

even keyed my car garage door opener for me which is something I was never able to do while following the owner's manual for my car. My garage door was getting very noisy and now it is much more quiet. They really know what they are doing. The keypad they installed works great as well!

This company was fantastic, they worked with me even before coming out on the pricing and went out of their way to explain some of the deals that they have through Angies list and best ways to use them for the services they needed. Then they came out and did everything like they said they would and even worked with us when one of the locks couldn't match up with the other 3 they didn't charge anything extra except for just us purchasing a new lock set.
I would use them again as well as refer them to others.

Company was responsive to my call and scheduled a service date that was prompt and convenient. However, on that day they were so late the appointment had to be rescheduled for the next day. On that day the service provider was again late. Once there, the service man was knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed the problems. After first pointing out that he would have to order a rare part, the service man came up with another solution. This solution was very satisfactory.
The provider then did some work to make the adjacent lock work better. This work provided a satisfactory result. However, this work had required some drilling that left significant wood shavings on the floor both inside and out. The workman made no effort to clean up the work site.
I would consider using this provider again, but this is not a certainty.

Just moved here. Needed a deadbolt on front door, striker plate on new door and all locks re-keyed.

The technician arrived at approximately 5:30 pm, with no phone call stating that he would be late. His rationale for his late arrival was "I'm having a bad day". With that being stated, he was given the option, by me the homeowner, to complete the job or reschedule for another time. He stated that he would complete the job as he was already at my home. Throughout the approximate 75 minutes that he was in my home, his attitude was horrific! He repeatedly complained about the locks, the jambs, or something. While working on the first of six doors, he stated that the latch wasn't aligning and that he would have to do some type of adjustment to it, for which there would be an additional charge. He was told that we were NOT going to start "nickel and diming the price", therefore he could complete the work for the price state by his employer or leave and I would have someone else do the work. He decided to continue with the job. On the second door, I noticed that he was not replacing the deadbolt "face hinge" (not sure that is the proper term) and questioned why that was the case. He stated that he would have to drill out a substantial amount of the door jamb because the existing hinge was a "wrap-around". He stated that this procedure would weaken the overall security of the lock, at which point, he was told not to do that. When working on the third door, the screw covers were not installed. When questioned as to why not, he stated that they were not in the box and he did not know where they were. Since the boxes containing all the locks were never outside of my home once obtained, that was extremely interesting and unusual. While working on the fourth door, he again complained, about what this time I don't even remember. I then questioned him as to whether I had said or done something to offend him as the entire process seemed to be a problem for him. He again informed me of his "bad day", to which I stated then why don't you just stop and come back another day? This was not a viable option to him, so he continued with the job. While working on the fifth door, the lever was installed backwards (facing the opposite direction of the other four) and though the screw covers were allegedly installed, within a short time following his departure, they both fell out, so there are now 2 locks that do not have the screw covers installed. When he decided that he was finished with his work, he prepared to leave without cleaning up after himself, without reversing the backwards lever to face the same direction as all the others, nor without ensuring the screw covers were properly installed. He also had left multiple plates and screws in the boxes, and when asked why they were not used, stated that they were "high security" screws, which I "did not need". I informed him that since I had paid for "high security" screws and locks, I expected that they be installed per the instructions provided by the manufacturer. He stated that he could not do that on the same evening as it was now approximately 6:40 pm, but could come back at a later time to complete the job. He requested payment for the job, which I refused to provide until the work was complete. He stated that he would have to call his employer, who would not be happy. I encouraged him to make the call. He was unsuccessful at contacting his employer before he departed from my home, without payment. On 07/11/2014, the technician returned to my home, stating that

called within a few moments to discuss the issues. During the call, he apologized for his technician, stating that the previous day had been a "bad day" for him. I stated that though I empathized with his plight, his bad day should not translate into a bad job for me.

agreed wholeheartedly and stated that he did not wish me to have a negative opinion of his company. He stated he was out of town, but would be back the next day (Saturday, 07/12/2014) and would come to my home to complete the job himself. I agreed to the same.

did NOT present at my home on 07/12/2014 as agreed, nor did he call to cancel or re-schedule. I did not hear from

again until today, 07/25/2014 when he and the technician arrived at my home unscheduled, without even the courtesy of a phone call to schedule an appointment. At the door, I informed
Orinda Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
that I would only allow entry of one of the two of them into my home or I would step outside to speak with them. He attempted to insist that both needed entry, but when I continued to refuse, he agreed that I should step outside. Upon my stepping outside,

then stuck his foot in my storm door in an effort to hold it open and I had to ask him to remove his foot so I could close my door. During our attempted conversation,
Orinda Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
informed me that I owed him not the $177.00 contracted over the phone, but $240.00 for 3 "latch adjustments" that the technician allegedly did. I stated to him that I told the technician we were not going to "nickel and dime" the job and that I was prepared to pay what we had agreed upon. He became irate, interrupting me as I attempted to speak. When I stated to
Orinda Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
that he was being rude and unprofessional, as I had listened patiently and courteously to him, he became even more irate, using profanity, i.e. "be f_______ glad I didn't come the first time" and "I would have had a d____ attitude". At this point, I terminated the conversation and proceeded to re-enter my home.
Orinda Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
then again demanded payment of $240.00, which I stated I would not be giving him. He threatened to call the police, which I encouraged him to do. He also stated that there would be a $2.00 per minute fee for time spent waiting for the police to arrive. I laughed. I entered my home, locked the doors, alarmed my security system, and called the police myself. Two police officers arrived within short order, taking both sides of the story. I told the officers I would pay the original $177.00 agreed to but would not allow

or his technician re-entry into my home. After a few rounds of "back and forth", I paid $191.16 (taxes were added to the $177.00-which was a labor charge as I provided the locks) and the police had them leave my property. They were told by the police and myself not to return to my property. Now I have to secure another locksmith to complete and correct a half-done job that I have already paid $191.16 for.

Service was prompt and over and above the call of duty to get the job done. Repair of the front door lock went quickly and smoothly but the

rekey of the garage door lock became problematic when the new latch wouldn't mate up with the existing door frame. Service guy

basically rehung our door with longer screws to eliminate the sag that had occurred over the last 25 years at no extra charge.
