Business Description: Reglazing is more "Art" then science and is a lot like trying to paint a car in your bathroom, without the advantages of a spray booth and a controlled enviroment. The outcome is only as good as the skill of the Tech., the preparation, and the quality of the materials. Material varies widely in price and quality. Home Depot "do it yourself" kits are $40, applied with a roller and might last 6 months-2 years. Some of the results I have seen look like a 6 year old finger painted it. Large companys have Techs. come and go so you never know what "skill" level you are going to get. Frankly the good Techs. leave to start their own companys as the pay is much better and the headaches far less. That leaves the company with beginers and "corner cutters". Since the Techs. are billed for their materials and paid by the job the faster they do it/less material they use the more money they make. I left one of those companys 15 years ago and do all the work myself. Yea, I trained a couple guys once. Paid them well. They are competitors now. Hmmm. My solution? Cut corners/expenses advertising, do top flight work and get referals, and charge about 10-20% less then the "Big Names".
