Laguna Niguel Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Reviews
think that by the age of 60 I would not be taken advantage of so terribly by a
smooth talking salesperson and a less than honorable business but that is
exactly what happened.
I had what appeared
to be a relatively minor electrical problem.
The ceiling lights in two rooms in my home adjacent to each other would
not work. The wall outlets were
fine. I had tried to get an electrician
out for several weeks but went through the standard no shows and too busy (what
is it with tradesmen). I got a call from
company. They are actually in Tarzana up
personality. He stared right off “knowing”
that my problem was a breaker box and the entire thing needed to be replaced to
the tune of 6,000.00. Well that wasn’t going
to fly and I tried to end the conversation then but he quickly followed up with
he could do it with a smaller breaker box for 4,000.00. Again I just shook my head. He then said “wait a minute”, he got on his
cell phone and called someone, talked a little and said. I have a deal, we just got a 6k breaker box
returned from a guy who didn’t want it and I can give it to you for 2k. Well at this point I kind of knew this wasn’t
something I wanted to do but I continued and allowed him into my home. After listening to him go on and on, talking
very fast we finally somehow agreed that he would have someone come out and “re-wire
two rooms and remove a fire alarm detector. He did seem like a nice young man and talked
100 miles per minute. He pulled out the “contract”
which is just one of those kinds you can buy at Staples and it had a peel an
stick label on it with their company name.
I know all the sings were there and I should have known. After signing the contract he “forgot” something
and put in a 40% cancellation fee (AFTER I SIGNED IT!). Again I know you are thinking how stupid
could I be. But I wanted the job done
and figured it would all come out in the wash.
After all this was a local, family run business.
came out (
electrical wire to be replace (may have been chewed by mice), a new switch and
they removed the wired fire alarm (snipped the wires and pulled it out). The total materials involved could not have
been more than $30.00 and total time spent by
and sixteen minutes. Wow I thought this
is great not major problems.
the job ended up and he said, what do you mean it is $1,570.00 as you agreed to
in the contract. I said, excuse me….you
are charging me $1,570.00 for an hour of work and $30.00 of materials. I stated I thought the charges would be
related to the effort and job that was done.
He went on about me signing a contract and that the contract amount was
their “minimal” cost. He also said he
told me that. Honestly I can’t say that
in all the talking he did that he didn’t say that (
definitely did not emphasize it or spend any time explaining that I would be
paying $1,570.00 even if all they did was change a light bulb. I asked him to look me in the face and tell
me this was a fair price. He said, I am
not an expert, we didn’t know what needed to be done and this is the
minimum. Well, he said he was an expert
when he was telling me a needed a new $6,000.00 breaker box. Now all of a sudden he isn’t an expert. I asked for his full name which he gave me reluctantly
(and he could never look me in the eye).
I also asked for the owner’s name.
He said it was
the last name and he said he didn’t know.
their boss and especially in a “Family Run” company.
I would not
recommend doing business, ever, with these people. They are not honorable and I feel like I have
been taken to the cleaners. Again, you
would think at the ripe old age of 60 I would be less of a target for this.

We would highly recommend her to anyone whether the job is small or large. She does excellent work.
We plan to use her services in the future and are giving her services to our daughter as a wedding gift.
This is the second time we've used Epic as I stated above, he did our kitchen remodel 3 years ago and the superb job he did there was a no brainer as to who we would call for our bathrooms. Epic will start construction on the next project Master Bathroom/shower, cabineting and complete plumbing upgrade in November. Can't wait as I'm excited to work with his team of experts again. Thank you
