"My wife and I have been Verizon customers since May of 2011 and have been very pleased with the quality of the phones and the service provided. Over time, however, the cost of that service per month has taken a larger percentage of our monthly budget than we felt we could afford. Our options seemed limited; replacing our smart phones with 'dumb' ones was one we'd looked at, but when we heard about Republic Wireless we felt it was too good to be true.
Investigating Republic (Consumer Reports as well as word-of-mouth from someone we knew who had that service) as well as their no questions asked return policy helped us to give them a try. We signed up for the plan that includes 3G when away from a wireless hot spot for $25.00/phone/month (a savings of over $50.00/phone/month). The directions for starting the phones were very clear, and I had no difficulty transferring my number over. My wife chose not to transfer her number until she saw how it went with mine; when we decided to go ahead we initially had some trouble moving her old number from Verizon, but the help 'desk' folks were able to resolve that issue quickly once they understood what was happening.
The switching from wireless hot spot to 3G has been seamless whether on a phone call or using

or my GPS. Both of us are avid Republic fans now and I cannot recommend them enough. Give them a try; you'll not be disappointed.
"If you are considering (or, more likely, limited) to using ACS for broadband internet, you need to contact them immediately. I submitted an online request (which I don't recommend, as there was no method to indicate that you want to take advantage of whatever discount they might be offering, nor was their any confirmation that my request had been received). After no contact for four days, I called them and was politely told that it had been less than a week and that they would contact me soon. However, I was able to request the discounted price that had been unavailable on the website (though the ACS rep was a little hurried in his explanations and I couldn't seem to get answers that I could understand). Thirteen days after my initial request, I still had no contact from ACS. I called and was told they might get to it in a few days. On the 16th day after my initial request, I received a voice-mail: it essentially said that they had some questions about my service installation and that if I didn't call them back in 24 hours then they would cancel my request. I called them and gave them the information they required (though I'm not sure why they couldn't have asked on any of my other calls) and they said that someone would call soon to schedule installation. I did receive a call the following day and was told that the first available appointment was six days later. Sure enough, the installer arrived six days later (a full 23 days after my initial request) to install the equipment. For some reason, he wasn't able to install it in the room we requested (though, he was able to install it in the next room over). The best thing I can say about the service is that it appears to be what I paid for...it's providing the download speed that was advertised.
"I had been with AT&T Cellular for over ten years, really without problems, however when I moved into my new home there was NO Cell service with AT&T. The insisted that there WAS cell service, but to the best of my knowledge never actually came to this area to check. I had ongoing phone calls with myriad people for at least two months, for a total of at least 12 hours on the phone with them. They sold me a micro cell for my home, which only worked sporadically. I finally decided to change carriers as Verizon could provide service. I went the rounds with AT&T but ended up having to pay a $276.00 early termination fee. My thoughts are we had a contract, they were to provide service, and I was to pay for it. Theyu did NOT live up to their end of the contract, as they could not provide service, however I was still charged the early termination fee.

After 3 reboots of the terminal point outside, I finally convinced them to send out a technician. This meant spending hours on the phone and repeating the same steps. After the technician came out and did some work outside and replaced the router, another router arrived, but with no paper work where to return it.....I had been told to return the old router in the box the new one arrived in. Again, spending close to 15 minutes just to asked where didi I need to return the device, I got someone; overall the call took 30 minutes. While I had them on the phone, I mentioned that I had TV remote that seemed to be failing and could I get a new one. Now, there is a charge. Or I was told just to use my cell phone and download an app. Overall, this company is no worse than the other telecoms, but customer service is poorly lacking.

We also noticed that we were able to sign up for satellite TV. We had Directv and was interested in the commercial free

Then we decided to sign up for the enhanced health care program. I work for the government and our prescriptions are low. Also noticed the site offered prepaid cell phone service called Mobi. I was already with Sprint and Mobi's service is on the Sprint's network. It is like I never left Sprint, but I got cheaper bill for unlimited talk, text, and data for $60.00 a month!
