I inherited my grandmother's floor/grandmother clock after my parents passed. I couldn't tell you the last time it worked, but it was when I was very young. I called the store number posted on their website after reading reviews here. I spoke with the proprietor, Ric. He asked a few questions to get an idea of the type of clock, and what the issues were with it. He was extremely professional and patient with me as I am not familiar with the inner workings of clocks. We made arrangements for him to come to my home and he inspected the clock after giving me his impression of what would need to be done (he came to this conclusion over the phone and was not wrong) and a ballpark estimate of cost. I felt the cost was very reasonable and appropriate. He came out to my house after his usual business hours (which I believe is what he normally does to pick up and return clocks, so I'm guessing that he works a lot of hours), inspected the clock and took it back to his store. Now, the clock movement had to be replaced, I think some parts had to be ordered (Germany maybe?) and he did a lot of work with adjustments so it took a few months before the clock was returned. I had no clue how long it would take and hadn't heard from him in a while so I called him myself - again, very professional, friendly, and informative. We scheduled a date for the return, and when he brought it over, he balanced it, set the clock and then showed me how to maintain it (again - didn't have the first clue of how these things work). He even made a custom back for the clock (it was missing the back when I brought it home). It was pretty obvious how much work they put into what they do and the house-call services they offer.
I'm very glad he was able to fix it; it's an heirloom piece that reminds me of my family. He was very professional and the work seems to be exceptional. I was given instructions for future service and what to call him for if anything shouldn't work properly or if the timing was off. I would definitely recommend

Ric, if you happen to read these - thanks so much!

Exceptional service by a very professional and enjoyable owner --
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
. Would highly recoomend him to family and friends as his service was very quick (house call), his knowledge of clocks extensive, his personal qualities very professional and his cost quite reasonable. I asked him to find replacement brass weights for our clock and he quoted us a price before ordering and did not require a deposit -- we paid him upon work at our home. In fact when he completed the invoice he told us the brass was in fact $70 cheaper than the quote and charged us accordingly. An honest and professional business. Call

Our grandfather clock's moon dial stopped working, and we called to set up an appointment to have it fixed. Since the clock had not been serviced for many years, we scheduled that as well.

Came to our home August 6. 2013 and took grandfather clock and mantel clock to store for repairs. Both clocks had stopped working. About two weeks both were returned "repaired"! We were told payment by check only so payment of $492.20 was made. Several days later mantel clock stopped working and we had to return it to their shop. It is now the end of August 2013. Many phone calls by myself to the shop were answered by the lady that works the desk there saying "still working on it". I asked repeatedly for the repairman to call me but never received any calls. Finally in February 2014 (yes six months), I demanded the clock back even in. Pieces plus the return of the portion of the charges for that clock. Surprise!! The clock was ready on March 4. Brought home and placed on mantel and it worked for a few hours and then one of the hands fell off,,, We gave up on it. Then around May the grandfather clock stopped. I must say that when we first contacted Pgh clock and lock we did not belong to Angie's list. This is one of the reasons we joined.

It is now August 2014 and we have selected a repair co from Angie's list and grandfather clock is being serviced and mantel clock has both hands on its face. I would never recommend this company for ANY CLOCK REPAIRS. We feel we donated $492.20 to their profit margin and we received many headaches in return.

I told him my problem, and he actually told me over the phone how to fix it myself. I asked if I could send him payment (he spent about 10-15 minutes talking me through this) and he politely refused. He clearly knows clock repair, will definitely call him if anything else goes wrong with our clock.

provided us with a Saturday appointment as requested, showed up on time and performed the work with professionalism and a true passion for their craft. My grandmothers clock is very special to me and had not been working for about 10 years. They were able to educate me and my husband on how the clock works, how to wind it and what to do when and if it was running either slow or fast. Also, when I called approximately 2 months later with a question they were willing and able to provide advice over the phone which I have now implemented and the clock is running correctly again. Together they make a great team and I have no doubt they could face any challenging clock situations.

I contacted
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
after finding him on Angie's List. He gave me a tenative date to come to my home and called back to confirm that the date worked.
The clock was inherited from my parents and has not run for the past several years. I recently transported it to TX from IL in the back of my SUV.

attached all the parts; cleaned, oiled, and adjusted the clock.
Additionally, we received some very helpful information about the care and time adjustments going forward. As it should be oiled/cleaned every two-three years, we will definitly be calling him again in the future.

Excellent service by pleasant, knowledgeable repairmen. Sometimes, you can sense when experts really know what they are
doing and that is the case with
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
and his son. The old clock had belonged to my father, who had once taken it apart
years ago for repairs. End of case. It ended up in my home and hung for years waiting for repairs while missing most of its parts that had been stored in containers by my father, who doubtless could not fix the clock himself. The Lewises took the clock and returned it in wonderful shape. They were thorough while explaining to me how and when to rewind the clock.

picked up the clock, repaired it at his business, and returned it to my home. I couldn't be more pleased with the result.

My family contracted with
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
to decommission a hundred year old grandfather clock and prepare it for shipping.
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
failed to properly decommission the clock or adequately prepare certain parts of the clock for transport.
As a result of this improper decommissioning and packaging, over $6000 worth of damage was done to the clock including cracking of the chime tubes (which are irreplaceable) and forceful tangling of the drive chains (which sustained damage as a result). He also failed to remove the clock mechanism from the clock cabinet.
I have consulted with experts on the decommissioning of grandfather clocks (especially Herschede) who state that the decommissioning job was done improperly and the packaging of the tubes was insufficient. This poor quality work directly contributed to the damaging of the clock.
When I attempted to contact
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
about the damage, he hung up on me. 24 hours later,
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
contacted me to inform me that he feels did prepare the clock properly and that there was nothing on the clock worth $6000. He offered no compensation, no apology, and no further option for making a claim. Repeated attempts to contact
Encino Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
have since gone unanswered.
In short, I received poor service, poor customer service, and am now faced with the prospect of a substantial bill to repair a family heirloom.
