Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience with
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
. They redirected us to
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
Granite & Marble and
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
Cabinet Store.I realized that each part of kitchen's products has separate store in this company, so everybody is expert about their job.We started out working with our designer and she was always helpful and seemed to be excited about the project. The project moved very smoothly and everything happened just said it would. They do business with integrity and customer satisfaction as their top priorities. I am very lucky and glad to work with
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
, and I believe that I will recommend this company to everyone that's around me.

I contacted
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
, owner of
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
, to see if he could stop by and provide a bid for installing granite countertops in our kitchen.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
showed up right on time and was able to quickly gather all measurements (~80 SF of countertop) for the work. He also asked us not only about the type of granite we wanted, but also what kind of sink we were looking at installing. After discussing with him (we already knew what we wanted), he gave us a quote of $3250 for the all the work, to include removing and hauling away the old countertops.
In less than 2 weeks,
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and his team showed up and installed the new granite and sink without any hassles at all. The work took about 5 hours total, and turned out to exceed our expectations. While there, we asked
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
to provide us a quote on installing granite in both our bathrooms, which came out to $1375; again, this included sinks (3), remove the old countertops, and installing the granite. After we told
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
proceed with this job, he and his crew returned about 1 week later and did all the work.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
's attention to detail, customer service attitude, and 20 years + of doing this type of work really shined through. We couldn't be more pleased with how both jobs turned out!
Would definitely recommend
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
to anyone looking at doing kitchen or bathroom remodeling.

(president) took $1500 deposit for an outdoor kitchen & travertine installation project. He made several promises to start work on project, but never showed for any of them. His excuses for not starting work became a regular occurrence. We felt he was completely disorganized and dishonest with us. After he did not start project by date agreed to in the contract, we asked for a refund of our $1500 deposit.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
was completely unprofessional and began shouting obscenities. We will be now heading for small claims court. There are too many competent contractors to even consider

INC. This is your fair warning.

They took steps to protect the house before starting the project. Proceded to perform the work. Asked that the work be inspected. When it was not the finish I had expected, it was
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and I was expecting it to have a slight
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
. In fairness, it was as was written in the contract, but when I saw it, I knew I would not be happy with it. Marbel Doctor came up a solution and tried it on one tile. I agreed and they reworked the floor in one of the rooms. We are so pleased with the end result. When small items were noticed in the other room, they scheduled a followup visit and made it right. They were very easy to work with. We will definitley use them again. We could not be more please with the results and the service.

Purchased big deal which saved us a lot of money!! We have amazing countertops for thousands less!!
We have a large kitchen with lots of countertop so we went well over the big deal limit but it reduced the price significantly. We went to their showroom and stone yard. We walked around their yard looking at all the colors and grains and we had 4 or 5 colors that we really liked. We were shown the different stones that were being offered in the big deal. Our top 3 choices were in the big deal so we lucked out. The sales person spent a long time with us showing us the different lots of each color that we liked and going over the pro's and con's of each grain and pattern that was unique to each lot. We found a lot that we loved and those slabs were tagged and reserved with our name. We went over the details as we had a brought a sketch and dimension of our countertops with us. In no time we had an estimate and had set up a time for having PS&T come out to do the
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
. In about a weeks are so our countertops were ready to be installed. We set up a time and PS&T were Punctual, professional and we couldn't be happier. Our Kitchen looks beautiful and the countertops really pop!! We saved a boat load of money using PS&T and the whole expereince was amazing. Great company to work with from A-Z

I will definitely have
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and his team back in the future due to his honesty, integrity, knowledge, and perhaps most of all his work ethic and the great work he does!
The contractor (
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
/ Granite & Tile Concepts) was on time for the estimate appointment and was very thorough going over what work I was looking to have done. This was a multi-project home renovation with work to be performed in various parts of the house. When looking at each area for work,
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
checked for substrate issues (for bathroom tile and laminate flooring installation) as well as explaining in full detail the steps, materials and costs for each project I was looking to have performed. I was very pleased with his knowledge, and he did not try to add on any extra "you should do this..." items to either inflate the cost or get me to have additional renovations to other areas I had not specified. I've been a homeowner many times over and have had contractors in the past try such tactics. I signed with
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
to perform the work. Again,
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
was on time for each day of work. He and his team are highly energized (for lack of a better word), and all business. I would say they were quick and efficient, as well as excellent at what they do. They kept all areas they were working in safe, and the mess down to a minimum - cleaning up the area(s) at the end of each day.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
did a walk through with me during and at the end of each project, allowing me to examine the work for anything I may not have been pleased with. Aside from one cut on a corner piece of laminate, I found nothing.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
immediately removed the piece and put in a new one with a tighter cut.
For the master Bath tile project,
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
checked the floor for bounce to ensure the installed tile would not crack at some point in the future. He added 3/4" plywood and a Durock sub-floor, and insured the floor was level before tiling. He allowed the tile to set over night and grouted the next day. Beautiful job.
For the master Bedroom, Living room and Hall flooring he again checked for any substrate issues. All baseboard trim was removed, as well as existing thresh-holds. He measured to insure the floors would level up to all other existing floors. The floors were previously carpeted, so no old flooring needed removing and the carpeting had already been removed.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
laid in flooring paper and then installed the new wood flooring. When meeting up with any door trims, he under-cut the trim and then cornered with the laminate. He then added in new thresh-holds. Again - beautiful job.
For the living room hearth there was a raised brick 2' x 5' already in place. I had a choice for him to remove the existing hearth, or use it in a new design. I chose the latter.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
base coated over the brick with cement, and over-layed with 8" x 8" black marble. He then two-stepped the hearth tiling the front and sides and then extended the hearth out in front by 3'. This was for two reasons - I was installing a wood
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and code compliance based on the size and dimension of the wood
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
. He allowed the tile to set over night and grouted the next day with a black/onyx grout to create a seamless effect. Beautiful job.
For the exterior door removal - I had a door going to nowhere (a deck previously abutted on the outside but had been removed by the previous homeowner). For home insurance purposes I had two choices - build a deck or get rid of the door. I chose the latter.
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
removed the door, built in a 2"x4" frame, added 1/2" or 3/4" plywood (sorry, can't remember which) to the exterior and then insulated with the proper r-value insulation. He then dry-walled and finished the interior with 2 coats of primer as prep for finish painting. On the exterior, he removed the old vinyl trim insuring not to damage the existing siding. He then put on Tyvek insulation wrap and laid in the new vinyl siding. Excellent job both inside and out.
I have several other areas both inside and out that I will be addressing in the future, such as walls, patio and walkways outside, and other to-be-determined projects inside. I will definitely hire
El Centro Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
(Granite & Tile Concepts) again.
