"Wonderful experience. The sales experience was low-pressure and very informative. You got the feeling
would have stayed all day if it helped" us choose our floors. Then when we got the estimate, we were surprised that such great service came with a price that was competitive to any of the other estimates we got. The quality of the flooring they offered was high, and we could tell from our time in the showroom that the people at this company really know floors and offered useful advice. One of our floors was back ordered, but they communicated this quickly, so we didn't have a moment of wondering what was going on. The installers showed up on time every day. They worked insanely quickly, done in 3 days, even with some subfloor issues that we didn't anticipate. They even took care of little problems, like shaving off the bottoms off some of the doors because our floors were now higher. Nice guys, and very thorough and thoughtful.

-Sara B.

and his crew did a great job installing the tile! They had to remove two layers of old flooring/carpeting to get to the sub-floor before" they could install our tile. We are so happy with the results! They started exactly on time and completed on time. Then they came back after the grout had cured and sealed it for us.
also provided some good advice on grout color and types which we appreciated. Thanks so much for all of your efforts. Very easy to work with! We will be using
again for other projects.

Wood floor alternatives

Consumers have many choices beyond traditional hardwood floors, including wood laminate and renewable sources such as bamboo, cork and even leather. Some alternatives look virtually the same as hardwoods.

Instead of going the conventional route with flooring, think outside the box and try a different flooring material, such as bamboo, cork, glass or stone.

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Because of too much weight in the closet, clothes rack pulled about 6 feet of sheet rock from wall.
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
repaired the sheetrock, mudded and fixed it so it looks new. I had him forgo sand and painting because another portion of the closet still had clothes hanging up. Being a closet with clothes this was a nonissue. He installed about six feet of horizontal 2 x 4 to existing structure. He then mounted an additional 2 brackets (3 total) to ensure stability. All done professionally. His price was extremely modest and reasonable for the service performed. He works in the northwest Florida area. I was so impressed with his work and cost I have lined up two more projects for him to do as he has time to fit them in. I highly recommend this personable and professional handyman.
- Phillip J.

Well they had to come back three times. For repairs on their work. They did not have all of the proper tools. They did not know how to cut around doors, or at least did it vary poorly. We had to have them back again to fix the transitions fixed to the carpet did not show under the bedroom doors. While Home Depot put caulk and quarter round in the package they did not finish the trim. When we asked they said that no flooring companies put down the shoe / quarter round. I would not do business with them again.

Very well. No problems. Excellent service, quality product, great staff. Well trained installation team who did a meticulous job. They carefully vett and stand behind their installers.

I recently hired
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
to remove the tile in my home and replace it with wood flooring and the result was
outstanding.! This company was highly recommended to me by a friend. I found the owner of the company,
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, to be very professional and courteous. He was very knowledgeable about the types of flooring available and he recommended several places where I could find flooring material. Once I found the flooring I liked best,
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
provided a very thorough explanation on the merits of the product I chose and he helped me to obtain very good pricing.
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
started the installation exactly on the date he promised (he even arrived early to start the work!) and he finished it without delay. The process and equipment he used to remove the tile was dust free and very clean. I was impressed with how smooth the floor was after he removed the tile and I’m sure that’s part of the reason my new floor looks perfect. Overall, I am very pleased with the final result and the price was less than any of the other companies I contacted. I highly recommend

Horrific experience, the wrong materials were used, the work was not done well and they didn't even tile in the corner of the rooms but then reattached the baseboards! We had to have everything ripped up and redone by another company. They always had an excuse why it wasn't their fault or couldn't be done properly.
- Elena A.

They gave excellent service overall and the quality of work performed was excellent. They definitely take pride in work and it shows. I am definitely going to recommend
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
to my friends & colleagues. This company is one I will use for all my home remodeling and/or home repair jobs in the future. I am a very satisfied home owner!

Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
at the
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
store was very helpful and very patient as we sorted through our options and figured out what we needed to do. He didn't try to upsell me. He informed me about important aspects of the job that really helped me figure out was was essential and what was not. This service can't be underestimated!
The installer was timely, efficient, neat, and did a good job. He did leave some glue on the flooring what we had to remove ourselves.
Overall, we are very happy.

Terribly. It started with the day that the estimator came on his 18th birthday. He called me and asked me where I was...that it looked like there was no furniture in this house. He was right. He was at my old home. I had moved prior to placing the order for the flooring to be installed in my new home. The flooring person at Home Depot had submitted the order prior to confirming address with me. I did bring this up with him and I did hear him call in an address change, but obviously this never got communicated to anyone. Thank goodness I had only moved a mile away and not across town. He then appeared and measured for all that I had placed order for....which in addition to rooms listed above, included an area in front of patio door to be cut out and replace the existing carpet with same flooring as other rooms. All was to be wonderful. I should get my estimate in a few days. I finally got the estimate and got a date scheduled. Job was to be completed May 28-29. And then started the rest of the problems. I was called a week or so later that the flooring was in and could be delivered. I received a call that morning from the delivery person sitting at my old, still empty, house. He was directed to my new house. Two installers called me early May 27 to find out where I was. They were again sitting at my old house. They were directed to my new home where they then appeared shortly, in an old van, which I later found out had leaked oil in several spots on my driveway. They started removing the old flooring, and worked until one of the guys got injured with a piece of the flooring getting jabbed into a finger. They took off for the ER and said others would be coming that afternoon. Sometime after 5, I finally called....no one was coming until the next day. I informed them that I would need to have them done by about 7pm due to fact that I had to work midnight shift that night and would need to sleep for a while. They assured me that it would be no problem...they would send a larger crew and they would be able to get it done. The next morning, later than what I had been told, I received a phone call (amazing). These people, also, were directed to my new house. There was a "large" crew of two people, one of which left after about one hour and the one that was left here, after about another hour, left for his hour lunch break. He returned alone, not to have anyone else appear until probably 5 or 6. They pulled my refrigerator out and pushed it over onto my off white carpet. They had had some plastic underneath, but they must have thought that it got in their way because they then pulled that out and just pulled/pushed refrigerator on to the carpet. When they moved it back, I saw the very dirty
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
that they had left behind. When they got the floor done in the kitchen, they pushed the refrigerator back into it's place and then came and told me that I would have to hook the ice cube maker back up which meant I would have to pull refrigerator back out and then push it back in again. I'm sure it was after 8 when they left. I was told that someone would come later to do the piece by the patio door. Another crew came out (after being sent to old house first) to install some transition strip between kitchen and laundry room. It had been discussed multiple times with multiple people, that I had in floor heating which originated in this laundry room. The guy was going to power nail this transition piece into the concrete floor (this is a single level townhome). That probably would have caused a major issue with the in floor heat, had one or more of their nails punctured the water tubes that run throughout the concrete floor. Good thing I said something...again, when I realized what they were doing. They glued it down. I assumed that these guys were going to do the piece by the patio door but when I asked this, I was told, "Oh no! That's not on our work order. We wouldn't get paid for it." Finally, on about June 23, the final
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
person came out, (to the old house first) to do the patio door piece and look at all the places that I had found issues with. When he looked at the floor by patio door, he pulled the carpet back, looked at it and said, "It would be impossible to do there because of the uneven concrete floor where the door is set in." I showed him the spots on the kitchen floor that it looked like something was trying to push up from underneath. He fixed one but not the other. I showed many of the places where the planks had been laid with to much of a gap between, the place where they got their dark marker on my white wall, the raw
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
of flooring by bathtub that had no caulking over it, the little polka dots over much of the quarter round (which I had thought was caused by not countersinking the nails and filling them in but but found out it was caused by breaking through the plastic covering on the fake looking non wood quarter round that they had used) how horrible it looked throughout because they had installed quarter round that matched the floor instead of the baseboard that it went on top of (dark floor, light baseboard). He pointed out to me all the places that the installers had left their pencil markings on the floor that they had used with measuring. He said he would get in touch with their head guy,
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, and have him give me a call. This was the only thing that went right.
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
did call me quickly. And then the problems began again. At this point I had decided that I wanted to just have the floor removed but that I did not want anyone from Crew 2 to come back into my house. (I had talked to 2 other flooring places in the meantime and had gotten estimates both to remove and replace floor or to repair and finish what Crew 2 hadn't done. (It was amazing how these 2 people both showed me exactly how easy it would be to do area by patio door by just evening out the concrete floor before installing new floor.) I was told that I could be reimbursed for the repairs if I went that route, which is what I ended up doing.
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Carpets from White Bear Lake came out to fix what he could and to put in the flooring by the patio door, which turned out beautifully, in spite of what the Crew 2 people said. I then spoke to
Ceres Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
again, both to tell him about the $700 repair bill and that I felt that I should be given further compensation for all of the hassles that I had been given and for the fact that my floor is still full of openings between slats on many parts of the floor. He said that he would give me $1000 which I OK'd. Shortly after hanging up, I realized that he meant $1000 total, so only $300 of extra compensation on top of the $700 repair reimbursement. I tried calling him back and he never returned that call. I did talk several times to "customer satisfaction specialists" from Home Depot. These people seemed to be quite understanding. The 1st one actually came to my house to deliver some materials (which turned out to have been ordered wrong). She was the only person, other than the installers, that ever came out to inspect any of my concerns. She, then left that Home Depot and moved to another store so I had to start all over with another one. I didn't get any further satisfaction. When I returned the unused materials to Home Depot, the service desk employee asked me if I wanted my refund in check form or store card, I chuckled and said, "Check please. I'm pretty sure that I will never step into a Home Depot store again.
