"I have been going to this vet for about 12 years. They are pretty expensive, but they are close to me. They take their time with examinations and keep me informed" about my dog's health. The office staff is very helpful, friendly and take care of the animals while we wait. I really appreciate that and it is very easy to schedule an appointment. I can usually get in within 24 hours.

"I have been using this vet for about 5 years. The vet and staff are very professional. My cat really likes going here and you can tell the vet really cares about" animals. They have reasonable pricing. I have had no problem at all with scheduling. I can usually get my cat in within a day or two.

Angie's Answers

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

Veterinarian reviews in Carmel Valley

Everyone was fabulous and took great care of him. They are friendly, and efficient, and responsive. They were good at explaining the options and didn’t pressure us. He now goes to see the oncology department and they take great care of our dog and seem to really love animals. The facility is great. It’s neat, clean, and friendly.

They are a very good vet. I have been taking the dogs here for about 4-5 years. The vet is very professional and thorough. The office staff are good with my dogs and are very attentive. I have had no issues scheduling an appointment for when I need.
- Patty H.

I've worked with a lot of vets because I do rescue. I'm only kind of working around to see for reviews for people to refer to. I'm also a dog trainer so I work with a lot of pet service in general. I refer a lot of people there. I use them as my primary vet. They took good care of her. All the vets there have always been very thorough. I've seen several of the different vets. In this case, we saw Dr.

and she did a very good exam on all the dogs. She asked all the appropriate questions. For my dog who is sick, I had a really good plan to take care of her. They did some initial blood work and basically said we'll see what's happening before we do any further testing. They gave her some medicine to help settle her stomach. In my opinion, they're a little expensive but I know based on working with other vets in the area that they're pretty typical for the area. I can't say that their prices are terrible, it's just more than I would like to pay. I not only use them but I refer both rescue and my training clients to them.
- Heather L.

The staff is always very friendly and professional. You never have to wait long and you can get an appointment pretty quickly- usually within a week. Their prices are also fair.
- Karen N.

I have been taking the dog here for about 10 years. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They are very good with my dog. They will keep me updated on when my dog needs a checkup. I have had no issues getting in to see the vet when we need.
- richard R.

We adopted this dog and found out she had a damaged-beyond-repair leg. We opted for the surgery and she is in good spirits now. We went to this facility because the vets in our area wanted to charge a lot more, and this place was a lot cheaper. We will be returning here for anything now, even teeth cleaning, despite the fact it's a 4 hour round trip for us.
- Mitch H.

We went to this provider this last summer (07/18/2014) for an emergency visit after our dog became injured in an altercation with another dog. This veterinarian welcomed us even though it was after normal business hours. Our dog had to be euthanized unfortunately but the veterinarian was VERY compassionate! We were only there for about 30 minutes but we received a very warm, small-town feel from this provider! I honestly don't recall the actual cost to have our dog euthanized because the owner of the other dog paid for everything. However, it I know it was right around $80.00 give or take. I am getting a puppy this weekend and will be contacting her for all his future care!

The first time I went there with a cat, they squeezed me in, so I didn't think about the waiting time. It was bad news for my cat. It turned out to be bone cancer. She lasted another 3 weeks, then I took her back to be put down.
Well, I caught the other cats and put them in carriers. While I was getting ready to go, one of the carriers upended, and the poor cat got scared and

in the carrier, which I didn't notice till we got to the office. I asked for a paper towel and the

at the desk gave me some. I wiped out the carrier, but my cat was covered in urine by then.
We were about 15-20 minutes early, since I'm still learning how long it takes from one end of town to another. We waited for our appointment. The
Carmel Valley Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
in the office kept going in and out but never said another word to me. There was one lady who left and that was it.
We waited past our appointment time, until they were 30 minutes late. I had other things to do, and was prepared to spend about $600 on the three cats, since 2 needed light surgery to remove facial growths, and the third needed grooming. They all needed shots. No one ever said anything, the
Carmel Valley Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
at the desk was no where to be seen. I heard loud talking in the back, but there was no one in evidence.
My impression is that the office is very disorganized and needs a serious class in customer service. You don't leave the phone ringing, or callers on hold for more than 2 minutes, which has happened several times. I don't have that kind of time to wait.
This office does some of the low-cost spay/neuter business for the local animal shelter. But if they have so much of that business they can leave someone like me sitting around and walking out, I wish them the best. I'll find someone else who values my business, treats me with respect, and honors my time.
