"Provider failed to keep several appointments over a 2 month period and finally asked Angie's to refund my payment and I had to hire another contractor and pay" an extra $200 to get the job done since by that time it was urgently needed.. Used excuses like truck broke down and in the shop or was sick.

-Marshall W.

"The company removed a large oak tree from the back yard that weighed about 25,000 pounds. They had to remove each section of the tree by using a crane that had to" swing each piece of the tree over my house! If they had dropped just one 1500 pound section of the tree on my house, they would have destroyed the house. I did not sleep well the night before the job. If I ever need heart surgery, I may call these people. The price was about 1/3 less than the other two top rated Angie's list companies.

4 Situations Where You Need a Professional Tree Trimmer

Not sure if you should trim your own trees? Sometimes your tree problem is best left to a pro whose is trained in maintenance and other complex issues.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

Unless the contract stated they were to remove the neighbor's portion at the neighbor's expense it's your bill.  You simply stated they were to remove the portion on the neighbor's side also, not who would pay for it by what I'm reading, even if that was your intention.

Another route to take:  Technically you should be able to file a claim with your neighbor's insurance for the damage done by the tree and possibly for the removal of the tree including the portion not affecting you.  They may deny the second part but if they pay for damages in addition to the coverage by your insurance you've been reimbursed.  Don't take more than the $650 and keep all records so you aren't accused of insurance fraud.  Unless the bill was broken into 2 parts stating which amount was for the removal on your side and which side was theirs their insurance probably won't argue much about only paying part of the bill.  Talk to your agent about how to best approach this.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Tree Service reviews in Summerdale

These guys did an excellent job. Very professional hardworking. they left my property clean and hauled away all the debris. I asked a neighbor and they suggested
Summerdale Tree Services Provider Name Locked
. I could not be home for this removal, and I asked that they take pictures of the roof so that I could make a judgment call about getting a roofer in to take a look. Although they said they would do this they did not. Also when I asked if there was any damage to the roof they said that there was no damage. It just so happened that the neighbors had a handy man over doing some work and he went up and discovered a 3 inch hole in the roof, which he did take a picture of. I had told
Summerdale Tree Services Provider Name Locked
that I would like them to come back later to help , we had another session scheduled for them to come out and give an estimate to trim back the tree that lost a branch and they were a NO SHOW, I waited several hours after our appointment. Very disappointing and unprofessional. They have not called back I would not trust this group to keep appointments.

This was a really gigantic blue spruce.

has top rated machinery and men to get the work done quickly. He and his crew did a professional, job of

the tree perfectly and grinding up its branches. His grinding of the roots was the most complete grind I've ever seen. He smoothed down the whole root area ( about 15 feet in diameter) and left it ready for planting grass and even another tree. All the sawdust dirt was carried away. The surrounding grass and driveway were raked clean. I've hired tree cutters many times, but none did such outstanding work as the

After contacting many other tree companies without hearing back, Vitaliy came out on time and gave me a written estimate and scheduled the job. They came out to do the trimming and did a great job. They finished in just a few hours and cleaned up everything very well.

came to our house to examine the tree we were concerned with on a Sunday. He provided information right away that the tree needed to be removed, knew the town rules regarding tree removal and then pointed out other trees that needed to be trimmed. His price was by far the best (we got 2 other estimates). Work was scheduled for the day we wanted and the crew arrived in the morning, completed everything by around 3:00 pm. Everything was cleaned and all debris was removed.

and crew did an excellent job for us! One tree had a fairly narrow drop zone and it was downed with no problem or damage. Clean up was as good as it gets.

The service was great!
Summerdale Tree Services Provider Name Locked
and his team were able to complete the service sooner than expected and were very professional and thorough. He made sure to double and triple check their work to made sure everything was completed correctly and completely. They cleared out everything they removed from the yard and more - They removed all remnants of the stump grinding and left our yard much cleaner than they found it. They had very high standards for their own work and left our yard looking great! We are really pleased with the outcome and how quickly they were able to complete the job.

A tree limb was already hanging of a very large tall tree close to my house when I contacted the company. I was anxious about getting the job done quickly.

Foster came the next day to evaluate it and give me a price. He said he would schedule it within the next week and would call me 24 hours before he scheduled the work. Of course it rained and was windy much of the days in between, but
Summerdale Tree Services Provider Name Locked
did exactly as he promised. The work was done less than a week after my initial contact. The weather cleared and the crew arrived 15 minutes before scheduled and got immediately to work. The tree was down and the area cleaned up in about 4 hours. The crew was very considerate and left my yard clean of their drinks etc. They did everything I asked them. It has been a great relief to not have to worry about the tree. I thank them for their good work and would definitely hire them again. I have recommended them to a neighbor.
