Hooshang is an incredibly skilled carpenter. He explained to us clearly and accurately what work he would do and what part he would not do, so we knew from the beginning what we were getting for our money. The work took about 3 days total, and it is beautiful--it looks like it has always been a part of the house, blending seamlessly with the parts of the stairs that were not replaced. When, at the end of the project, there was a small gap between the new first step and a wall, he went back and fixed the gap for me in such a way that it's invisible. When I asked, he also replaced one of the new balusters that had a minor nick in it without blinking an eye. Overall, he was very professional and responsive. I would absolutely recommend him to friends and family, and if I needed stair work done in the future, I would be happy to have him do it.

We had a deadline to meet on some necessary repairs and we needed a contractor who would get the job done.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was able to complete all requested tasks within a week, both perfectly and professionally. They even had time to paint and trim an additional room for us. Their crew was courteous and respectful of our home and showed up promptly each day that they said they would. The value for the cost of the repairs was very reasonable and the finished work was high quality.
I would highly recommend
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to anyone needing home repairs and would gladly welcome
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew back into our home for future construction needs. Please feel free to contact me if any additional feedback is needed. 6155160870.

Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
had an opening in his schedule the next day. On the phone he asked perceptive questions and quickly understood our priorities: first, make room for the new fridge; second, retain as much storage space as possible; third, make it look as nice as reasonable -- but if it turns out less than perfect (and it was far from perfect to begin with), that will be a good incentive for us to think about the long-overdue full kitchen remodel we really need one of these years.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
showed up as scheduled, with a very well-equipped truck and trailer. He discussed options and details and we agreed on a plan. He was quite familiar with the 1950s construction techniques and materials used in our kitchen. He proceeded to efficiently pull out the old cabinets, keeping them as intact as possible. He then came up with ways to modify everything to fit the new dimensions -- to the extent of disassembling four drawers, trimming their pieces to new sizes, and reassembling.
After a day and a half, everything turned out great -- much better than we had expected when we'd originally been thinking about getting someone to do this job.
At the end,
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
started to give us advice about how to sand, caulk and spackle before painting, but we asked him to come back the next day to take care of all that prep for us. He spent a couple of hours doing so, and did a very nice job.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was always professional, smart, calm, knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to discuss options and reasons.

During the installation of our custom kitchen cabinets from CliqStudios, Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
installed a 33" finished upper cabinet, (which was supposed to be free standing over the dishwasher) in line where a 30" cabinet was supposed to be installed. The 30" cabinet had unfinished sides because it was to be installed between two other cabinets. Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
even removed one finished side from the larger cabinet to put it into the space allowed for the 30" cabinet. He had to install a 3" filler between the lower cabinets to push them out to line up with the upper cabinets.
This forced the pantry on this same wall, within an inch from the door frame where there should have been 4 inches of wall space. The smaller 30" cabinet without finished sides, he concealed with a white laminate product he bought and cut to fit. (He told us to paint it, later when we discovered it and questioned him about it.) We didn't notice the difference in material and color until the next morning because we don't have functioning lights in the kitchen yet. we've been using drop lights to work in the kitchen. Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
never mentioned this mistake to us or how he tried to "fix" it. He just let us know it was a bit of a job since we had an older house and things aren't perfectly level or straight in houses like this. He had to build out a corner cabinet for the sink. Our plans included the door frame and front and the adjacent cabinet sides were to come up to the corner door and the carpenter would have to complete the frame and install a floor in the cabinet. Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
mounted cleats on the wall to support the counter top in the corner. It wasn't until the morning after we'd met with Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and paid him for his work, we discovered the mismatched cabinet in the morning light coming through the kitchen windows.
We were unsuccessful trying to get Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to return and correct the cabinet lineup. He blamed CliqStudios for labeling the cabinet boxes wrong. My husband and I checked the boxes and politely disagree; you simply can't put a 33" inch cabinet in a 30" box and the box labeled for the 30" cabinet was barely 32", just enough to accommodate packing material. Anyway, wouldn't you open all of the upper cabinets before you even started the installation to determine what goes where? A 30" cabinet with unfinished sides appears considerably smaller than a 33" cabinet with finished sides. How could you possibly mix those up?
Anyway, when he saw the cabinets weren't matching his pencil
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
on the wall, he really should have checked the cabinets then. I still can't believe he actually removed a finished side panel from the 33" upper cabinet and hung the 30" unfinished upper cabinet alone on another wall. There were so many opportunities to "discover" his error and correct it before it went any further, but instead, he just kept compensating for it, by adding filler, moving the cabinets beyond the designated space he'd already marked on the walls, even having to purchase a laminate product to cover the unfinished sides of the free standing upper cabinet. I had ordered a larger 33" cabinet to balance that wall and because I had the space to allow for a larger cabinet with more storage.
When we tried to get Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to return and fix it, he said he didn't want to risk damaging the cabinets and crown moulding by removing and rearranging them and then have to be responsible for them. In his emails, he reminded us that we paid him already and that meant we accepted the job. He said we were selling the home and that it wouldn't make any difference and that no-one would ever know. He told us to "leave it alone". He said he didn't have any time anyway because he had plans to travel with his family and that we should respect that. When I protested and let Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
know that I would be writing a review, he emailed me this message, "don't threaten me."
Well, this isn't a threat, but I plan to write reviews about all of the trades and suppliers we used in Brenham, good bad and otherwise. Isn't that what Angie's List is for? I know Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
said it wouldn't make any difference but it has. Last fall we bought an appliance package for this kitchen and now the refrigerator won't fit. It was to fit a 36" space which has been reduced to 35". It will cost us a minimum of $1479 to replace the refrigerator with a smaller one, plus we'll have to pay a 20% restocking fee to return the original. I'm sure I should have hired another carpenter to swap the cabinets back out, but I was worried about spending more money and whether I'd find anyone else that would be willing to follow Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's mistakes and try to correct them. We'd already spent $6000 on the kitchen cabinets and another $1175 for their installation. The flooring company and countertop contractors were already scheduled and I didn't know how long it would take to try and fix everything and regroup.
At first I tried to reassure Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
in emails that making a mistake was really not that big a deal, that everyone makes mistakes and I knew he would be able to fix this for us. I was so shocked when he refused. This couldn't possibly be the same man that got such solid reviews from 3 other customers. The fact that he knew he was installing it wrong and just kept going with it made it a big deal. His refusal to correct the error made it a big deal and our financial loss due to the appliance problem is a big deal. This was my husband's family home from the week he was born. His mother lived here until she passed away at age 96. We have been remodeling this home for one entire year and have done so much of the work ourselves. It's a beautiful home and to us this home is a very big deal.
Anyway, in spite of the great references from Mr.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, we were very disappointed in his work and his lack of professionalism. We would not hire him again nor recommend him for anyone else.

is an expert craftsman. She is exceptional! I didn't have to worry if she was going to show up like some contractors I hired during my complete remodel. She is well organized and listened to all of my concerns and desires regarding the custom mantle she was building. I was very pleased and honored to have had her build the mantle for our home. It looks amazing! The price was good too. You just can't go wrong by hiring her and you will be glad you did.

To be concise, they walked off the job and disregarded the second contract while we were on vacation. We were promised a "crew" would come in and get the job done in a week. Two months later it was clear that the "crew" consisted of two painters, his cousin the carpenter and a handyman who got fired during the job. Often did not show up at all and much of the little work that was completed had to be torn out by the new contractor. The bath remodel was a mess - no hot water, pipes leaking, shower
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was not installed correctly. It was really a blessing that they left. We are considering legal action.

Everything went really well with this experience. I will post pictures because the final product is just beautiful.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
tiled the floor of our wine room and also completed a stone accent wall for us. He put together customized wine racking to finish the room by giving it a really custom look. He created custom matching trim for this room and installed some custom artwork we had done.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
helped us use stock-size cabinets to build into a custom bench seating area that looks fabulous! He put up crown molding throughout the basement and hung/painted all doors. He also built stunning trim for all of the windows.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
put down laminate flooring in all of the closets and primed and painted the entire basement including multiple rooms with various colors of paint. The bathroom is the piece de resistance - everyone thinks it is just amazing when they see it! He did all of the custom tile work including the floors, walls, and a shower that includes bench seating and inset shelving. He installed the fixtures, the vanity, and the mirror. He also built custom shelving by the shower as requested. My biggest goal of the project was to create a space that really matched our personality and style and was unique to a lot of the other things that I have seen. Everything definitely has the WOW factor and much of that was done by
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Not only was he easy to work with, but he put so much personal attention into it. Knowing how picky I was about flaws in certain pieces of tile or coloring that was a little bit off, he spent so much time really making sure that the best pieces were on display and he "hid" the ones that weren't as preferable. I really appreciated this because he wasn't just doing the labor; he really took it personally on his behalf to make sure that it was perfect for us. Once the job was completed, he also checked in with us and told us to put together a list if there was anything else that we noticed that wasn't to our liking or needed to be updated. Everything looks great, but just the fact that he offered us time to really "live" in the space and see if we noticed anything really goes a long way with me.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
will be the first call that I will make for the ongoing projects that homeowners continue to have. He is easy to work with and very conscientious about his work quality.

I have an old 1920's Craftsman bungalow and another contractor that worked on the house in the past didn't pay attention to period details at all.
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
at
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, however, was a breath of fresh air when I called him to talk about restoring and reglazing my old, original windows. I knew immediately that I wanted to work with him because he really cares about old house details and seemed very knowledgeable. He also listens well and follows through on what he says he'll do. His contract was a fair price and the work was absolutely worth it. His team is polite, easy to work with, and skilled. They act like a little family. The windows turned out amazing; they look custom. Bonus: they'll keep for a long time with proper maintenance. I liked what they did so much, I had them do a couple of other projects including plastering a ceiling and painting the exterior of our house. Pretty much anything we decide to do from here on out will be with
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. If you have an old house, especially a Craftsman bungalow, this is the person who should work on your house. I highly recommend
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team.

I was at Home Depot in Dothan, Alabama, and noticed that the store offered custom plantation shutter installation. I called to set up an initial appointment for an estimate. It was not Home Depot personnel who would be doing the estimate or installation. It would be outsourced to
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and Shutters Real Soon, from Suwanee, Georgia. The person who provided the estimate was very prompt and professional, and we were provided with a written quote. We were told how long it would take for the shutters to be finished. They were actually finished ahead of schedule. An appointment was scheduled and the shutters were installed. They went up seamlessly, and quickly. The installation was done expertly. The crew was professional, polite, prompt and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The shutters are beautiful. The quality is amazing. They are not flimsy in any way. Very substantial. They are extremely sturdy and easy to open and close. The quality is very impressive. The entire experience was excellent. I totally recommend
Oxford General Contractors Provider Name Locked
