"Bill called to get details (we had used a different company to find the leak; they couldn't do the repair). Once he heard my version of the leak, he estimated" $500 to do the job. We made an appointment for Thursday, which he couldn't make. Changing the appointment to Friday, he showed up earlier than the expected time. We weren't home, but Bill had the holes dug by the time we showed up. He showed us the problem and explained how he was going to fix it. In less than an hour, it was complete and holes filled in. VERY MUCH recommend

"Of course my problem would be on a Saturday night after dark! I'm amazed that he consented to come out to deal with this in the pitch dark. A water feed under" the back side of the house broke and he had to approach it from the outside, on the ground, and up under the bottom of the house. It started when I went to bring my mother some dinner at her cottage that is contiguous to the main house. I heard a loud hissing sound in the back garden and went to investigate. I found a broken PVC pipe spraying copious amounts of water to the underside of the house. I went to my computer to consult with Angie's List to find a plumber and quickly settled on
from Winter Haven. I called to see if he was available and he said he would come right away. He arrived, located and assessed the problem, went to his truck for the necessary equipment and parts and was soon at work. In time, the water was back on and things were back to normal. I am VERY grateful to Mr.
for leaving his home and family on a weekend night to come and solve my problem. I found Mr.
to be courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. He went right to work to solve the problem. He was willing to come and deal with this when and where I needed him. I found his pricing in concert with his services. I would absolutely consider using Mr.
' services again.

How to Avoid Common Plumbing Scams

Here are four of the most common plumbing scams to watch out for and how to avoid them.

Hiring a Plumber

When you need a plumber, especially for an expensive project for which you have time to plan, make sure you hire one who is fully qualified and licensed in your state. A plumber may be an apprentice, a journeyman or a highly qualified master plumber, depending on the level of training and experience.

Take off the lid to the tank and check inside.  There should be a small hose going into a larger pipe near the middle of the tank right next to the flapper.  When you flush the toilet water squirts from that hose into the pipe.  If it isn't in place put it back so that water goes down that pipe once again.  This is what refills your bowl.  If water does not come out of the little hose check to see if it is kinked or blocked.  You can take it off and blow air through it.  Don't worry, it's only clean water that goes through the hose.  If it is clear and water does not come out of the short pipe where it attaches on the flush valve then there is a clog in that valve and it will probably need to be replaced.  These are $10-20 at any home improvement store and even Wal-Mart.  The instructions are simple and you can do it yourself in about 15 minutes.  Check the washer on the supply hose to the toilet while it is off to replace the flush valve.  If it is old or worn replace the hose as well.  It is cheap insurance of only a few dollars which is a lot cheaper than a failed hose or washer causing water to leak.

If you don't feel comfortable replacing the fill valve, if it is needed, a handyman can do it fairly cheap.  Whereas a plumber or other contractor will have a minimum charge of $100-200 a handyman might do it for about $50.

From the sounds of it, you have a clog between the floor drain and the connection to the city sewer (unless you have a septic tank).  The lower flow rates of sinks / showers / dishwashers probable don't cause a backup like the washing machine does.  A couple of suggestions.

1.  Snake the drain line with a spade tip snake, twisting the snake as you advance it.  This should clear the partial blockage.

 2.  If feasable, have your washing machine discharge into a utility sink and put a strainer on the drain to catch the clothing fibre (fibres and grease from the sink probably made the clog in the first place not to mention a garbage disposal).

3.  Replace your floor drain with one that has a backflow preventer (looks like there is a ping pong ball in it).

 Good Luck

It is not uncommon for a plumber to have to go get the parts necessary to repair and complete the job.  It is very hard to determine what the problem is over the phone and it is not until the repair process begins that the parts needed to resolve the problem is discovered.  It may also depend on if the plumber is using hourly rates or per job rates.  I would hope the time to get the parts would be minimal and the charge would be as well!

Well , you've certainly started a debate that will endure forever , but personally , having worked with both products , PEX is a better product . Now granted , the 1st time i used it

I was not impressed , cause it leaked.......NOT because the product was at fault, it was because I did not understand how to use the product !

The trick to using Pex , is to make certain that the fittings seat, they MUST be pushed together with force, and if you do not push with force to get the seat to seal, it leaks .

Therefore , when using PEX , you have constantly to be aware of leaving room to make your connections -Properly !

The beauty of PEX is that it bends , it is flexible and decreases the labor factor ,although the connection costs are often 100-300 % higher than copper , but again , it can cut labor costs in half  and it is safer to work with,  NO FLAMEs!

Nothing. My toilet would flush and when it did, it kept running water. The provider did nothing. Pricing was just way to expensive for what I know needed to be done. He was telling me that the whole "flushing mechanism" had to be rebuilt. Not replaced - REBUILT. If I recall, these items are sold at any hardware store. I just needed someone to do the install. I purchased a new device and had my son install it for less than $20..00. Buyer beware!!
- Debra N.

The two technicians showed up on time to inspect the issue with both my toilets in the master bathroom and second bathroom. I decided to get a new toilet for my Master bathroom and they had one that I liked. The new toilet that they installed flushes great, as well as the second bathroom toilet that they repaired. The technicians were very efficient, professional, and friendly with the installation and repair services. This is the second time that I have used

, and based on the quality of service and parts that I have received on both occasions, I would recommend them and use them again. Thanks.

We signed up for a year's service for termite treatment. The deal was that the provider was to return quarterly and check the traps. The provider came to install the traps, did a cursory inspection, then we never heard back from them. They did return once during the course of the year, but only after the quarter had well passed and after numerous phone calls on our part. When the next visit was due, we had to call again and never heard back ever from this provider. They never fulfilled the deal. They still owe us two visits. To be fair, the provider is about 50 miles from our location. The provider should never have listed the deal in our zip code.

Unfortunately it took longer than anticipated, as I have

toilets and they take a unique gasket. They didn't happen to have this one on the truck so they had to go buy one. They were on time, efficient and pleasant. I felt that they were honest and will definitely have them back the next time I need a plumber.

Way Overpriced

Not happy w this so called Angiies list deal

But I bought the deal and was stuck with it. Felt backed into the corner w contractor there. It's mid summer and I waited a couple weeks to get. It's mid summer and my grass is browning due to failed sprinkler valve and I now have a plumber in my house. So def felt backed into corner. I didn't feel the cost was fair for the time spent. Also when I opened closet door, I would have thought that the plumber would have replaced the cut insulation. And not left it hanging. Lastly, would some

valve labels be too much to ask for this high cost?

Office was friendly and responsive

Caveat-My date and exact cost are not 100% accurate, but not far off.
