"
is a great guy. Called him out to deliver 1/2 cord of firewood and to give me an estimate on tree removal. He is very knowledgeable and" doesn't try to sell any service that you don't need. He also delivered 1/2 cord of firewood. He stacked it and even covered it prior to leaving. Our firewood rack holds 1/2 cord of wood and when
finished it was obvious that he had filled the rack to the brim and a bit more. Will use him again in the near future.

"I called the telephone number listed on Angie's List for

and he apologized and said he would come straight over. He arrived about 20 minutes later and looked over my tree. He gave me a bid of $550. This is a small job, and even if I generously allow 2 hours with a 3 person crew, this amount results in $90 per hour, per person. The point I'd like to make to
is, if a job sounds too small for you, just say so during the phone call. Even better, give the prospect a referral to a smaller company that you believe does good work. During my
, I had one company let me know that my job was not big enough for them and I appreciated it. don't waste my time and yours coming out to give a bid just to then give me an inflated price that seems designed to discourage me from hiring you.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

This company was a pleasure to work with.
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
followed up my "Angie's List" email to them with both an email and a phone call. I was able to schedule
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
for an estimate within the next few days. When
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
came out, he was friendly and professional. He made some suggestions for my cherry tree and then gave me a verbal quote. I received an email with an official quote with the same price later that day. Another company had quoted almost 200% more for just the cherry tree, so I felt very good about
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
's pricing. I emailed to accept the quote and was called by the office the next day to schedule. The crew, headed by
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
, arrived on time and were quick and efficient. After taking down the willow and working on the cherry,
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
asked me to come out to talk about a few things on the cherry. The finishing touches done, the crew had all the limbs chipped, debris cleaned up, blew off the driveway and street, and were out of here in less than 1.5 hours total. I wholeheartedly recommend this company.

I sent them an e-mail through Angie's List on Wednesday requesting an estimate for either removing or trimming six palm trees. I provided three time slots when for the estimate. Received an email back asking to confirm one of the times for Friday which I did. Estimator showed up on time, reviewed the requested work and provided me an estimate. The
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
had not been trimmed for several years and had very large "

" on them. This resulted in a larger cost to trim them than if they had been trimmed on an annual basis. My back yard is not accessible to vehicles and the
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
were next to the house and the block fence. We agreed on them removing the
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
on the following Thursday. If the job couldn't be finished on Thursday, they would be back on Friday to finish it.
The crew arrived at 08:00 a.m. on the following Thursday. They had two crews working on cutting down the palm trees. A third crew arrived to grind down the stumps. Everyone on the crews knew their jobs and everything went like clockwork. All work was done and the crews gone by 2:00 p.m.. The yard looks great as they hauled all the debris away with them.
I will definitely use them again if I have trees that need trimming or removing. I highly recommend them to anyone needing a tree service. I had reviewed prices and was very pleased as their estimate was lower than I was expecting.

and the team at
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was great. I had purchased my property a couple of years ago and the trees had not been maintained.
I had originally used a competitor to treat my Pin Oaks (If you have some you know they are a pain in the butt) and had them quote the job. I recieved their quote and decided to have
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
come out for a second quote. I was happy with their quote and scheduled the job. We had to wait until the trees were dormant to avoid diseases and any damage.

and the crew came out while I was at work. My neighbors sent me pictures of this cool lift they use for tree work. I got home and was very happy with the work they had done. My wife said the whole crew was friendly and professional. We hope that the upkeep will keep these old trees with us for years to come.

and his men did excellent work. I sent them a message and within 4 hours
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was at my door doing a free estimate for the work. While we were doing the estimate
Fairhope Tree Services Provider Name Locked
even found another tree that was in

of falling. He quoted an excellent price and then said that he would take care of the 4 trees that needed to come down the next day! I was astonished that he could get to it that quickly. I asked if I needed to be home and he said no. When I came home the next day all the trees were gone as if they had never existed. I was very impressed. If you need anything done regarding work on trees

(owner) and his crew were very meticulous in their work. Extremely detailed oriented. Truly, the crew of four acted as a team. They were very safety conscious. All of my question/inquiries were answered to my stringent satisfaction. The old, ugly pine is now quite beautiful, charming even. And when they were finished, their clean-up was as if they were never there. In fact, my yard looked 100% better than what it originally was before them came out to do the job. VERY PLEASED! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

Best tree service I've ever used and would definitely use them again. They had to be careful pruning the redbud, as it had branched out over the neighbor's roof and driveway--did an excellent job. Professional and polite.

Provider came quickly, one good thing about the first contact with them. Brought about one half the wood, asked for full payment because they were out of money and needed gasoline to bring second trip to complete the delivery. Like a fool I trusted them. Never came back and after 30 days still had not finished the delivery. I contacted them every single day. I went to their place of business and they tried to run me off. However, after threatening to call the inspectors they caved in an dumped about half of what they owed me in my driveway over a week later. The wood was supposed to be stacked and delivered in back of my house. Seeing this as a partial
