"The tough winter took a toll on our already aging front steps. I called for an estimate to repair loose bricks, but
told me that he thought" we really needed to replace the whole front steps. He came highly recommended so I trusted his assessment. I let them know when we would be on vacation and they completed the work while we were out of town, which was very convenient. The steps look great and we are very pleased with the work. I can't compare prices because we did not get other estimates.

"When half of the drain trench had been dug, the basement floor in that area dropped about an inch. They immediately ceased work and called in a structural engineer." He determined that the foundation was secure and that the drop in the floor was a result of erosion. He recommended that holes be drilled throughout the basement floor and filler material be added to support the floor and prevent further dropping. A week later
came back and drilled 2" holes approximately five feet apart, or closer where needed for larger voids, and filled with Bentonite clay for an additional $7900. They finished the waterproofing system in two days.

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Injected two cracks in basement wall. One crack had to use staples.
We had a different company fix another crack a few years back. That work took two repairs to stop the leak.

was much neater and worked the first try. They explained upfront the limitation regarding the corner crack repair. No further leaks
since repair. Would definitely use this company again.

The product functions exactly as intended, water no longer comes in my basement when it rains, and their work is guaranteed for life. So in the end, I'd still recommend them to others, but be sure to get every single thing in writing on the quote/contract before work begins. There was a significant gap in between what the person issuing the quotation promised and what the person showing up to do the work tried to deliver.
It took a couple emails and phone calls to the company's owner to get what I was quoted to be actually accomplished. They either need to have the same person that quoted the work explain the scope to the on-site workers, or revise their contract forms to accommodate several other details for waterproofing jobs. I had to do a lot of babysitting to ensure I was receiving what I was paying for.
Additionally, one of the workers tried to tie my sump pump discharge line at the immediate base of my downspout. Not only was that explicitly not what was discussed during my quotation, it is simply an industry-recognized bad practice, and yet the worker tried to convince me it wouldn't matter. Shortcuts like these make me nervous about what other corners they cut over the course of my french drain installation, but again, their warranty eased my concerns enough to get past it.
Similarly, a staple gun was used to fasten protective plastic sheeting to the drywall in the rooms where the work was done. Rather than remove these staples individually upon completion, they just ripped the entire plastic sheeting from a single vantage point, putting

stress on the staples, and ripping unnecessary chunks out of my drywall that I now have to patch.
Finally, their initial attempt at "burying" a downspout line was to place a pipe in the dirt, and sprinkle dirt on top of it, to where the majority of the white pipe was still clearly visible. To their credit, someone returned to bury t he pipe properly, and they changed the tie-in point of the discharge line to a safe distance, but these are lazy shortcuts I wouldn't expect from a professional company in the first place, and for that reason I give them a B in quality and professionalism.
Overall, they still get an A because they continued to work with me until I was happy, and the owner clearly cares about his company and the quality of service it provides, but there are some pretty easy areas of improvement when it comes to communicating and managing expectations with customers.

I went with
Fairfield Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
because he was the plumber contracted by the previous owner five years ago to replace the original waste water line(s) from the house to the city T (connection) at the sidewalk. Unfortunately he could not remember nor easily find the notes on which lines he replaced (sanitation, sewer or both). He's older and he's old school. No fancy camera to peek in the pipes. And honestly, the man has so much experience that he can assess the situation reliably through feel and experience.
He was incredibly difficult to schedule. He kept delaying, postponing because I wasn't a critical case (no pipes bursting for example) as I wanted to understand why our basement kept getting some minor flooding. But he finally did come after I bugged him a lot & often. He seemed to be humored by the attention, thank goodness and didn't tell me to bugger off.
But he came with another guy and they went around the house, opening downspouts and flushing them out with high pressure. He removed a lot of smelly gross slimy debris from the driveway drain, which had been always slow to drain & I thought it might be broken or the cause of the basement water. That now drains fine.
He used a cutter to clear the main lines from the house to the sidewalk, although he said they were in general in good shape (not too many tree roots & debris). Unlike other plumbers, he wasn't afraid to take the cutter past the T connection to the city side of the pipe to keep clearing out the pipe. That's when he told me that there was "big clog" in the middle of the street and that I should demand a camera verification when the city comes to clear their side. He was adamant that my side was all good and "not to let the City tell you otherwise". He said all this in an empowering way as he knew the basement had gotten wet multiple times, not in a defensive way. I called the city to tell them to come clear the lines and they did but no camera.
And sure enough, we had a massive 100 yr flood in the area and my basement got wet again. So I called the city again and it took them two more times and finally i got camera verification. I haven't had a problem since.

I made an appointment for a Friday about a week ahead and he called a couple of hours after the scheduled time to reschedule for the next day. It was raining a lot, so I guess he had more important customers to take care of that day. He never showed up the next day and ignored my text.

The entire process was very smooth. Nick was very professional and efficient. He inspected the entire basement and carefully explained what he observed and suggested corrective actions. I had many questions - which he answered in detail. When he was finished he wrote up a full report, printed it and left it with me. There was no pressure to purchase services! Just the facts!

met with us in early June and was responsive to the inquiry for a visit, recommendation and quote. He was prompt and communicated with us often as we had plenty of questions after the initial visit. After getting several more recommendations and quotes, we settled on Premier due to our interaction with
Fairfield Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and the other reviews on Angie's list. Additionally the recommended work was in line with my research where the other 2 providers did not even come close.
We were not disappointed. The team that did the earth anchors and the team that did the drainage were top notch. Not only were they all friendly and go out of their way to be accommodating, they treated our house carefully and did an amazing job keeping things clean, neat and orderly during the process. At the end of the job, you could barely tell that we had so much work done. It was left clean. The teams on site were great. The work was done in exactly the amount of time that was scheduled.
Thanks again to your entire team

Contacted Angies list for help. They opened a case but I never heard from them again.
When I finally contacted them through chat all they wanted to do was give me a discount and reschedule.
Avoid MTR and avoid Angies List. What a waste of time, especially since I am just beginning a total house rehab.

had completed repairs in my crawl for a previous owner. I
am currently selling my house and there was joist damage noted on the buyer’s
inspection. I called them to give me an estimate for repair, since they had done
work in the past on the house. I thought it was a good idea, but I was wrong.
The women answering the phones made me jump through hoops including emailing her
the prior contract from the prior owner. She also insisted I pay to transfer
the contract into my name before she would send anyone to give me an estimate. That
cost was $25, which was no problem. However, she would not take payment over
the phone and I had to mail it to her prior to any communication about setting
up an estimate. I explained on the phone and in email that the damage sighted on
the inspection for my buyer did not appear to be in areas of prior repair but
she still required all this extra legwork just to get a quote.
I attempted to clarify if I would have to go through some many steps just to get
an estimate for joist repair if her company had never done work on my house. At
that time she told me her workers were booked until September, which would have
never worked due to the repairs being needed to close on the sale of our house.
The house being on the
Fairfield Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was a point I was clear with her from the first
phone call.
I would not use this company due to it being difficult to use them in the first
place.
