coverage. Currently I utilize their services as a hedge against a costly repair in the heat of the Texas summer. Some of the service providers, trying to build their business, sent out by

to funnel them business. When would I get an
Warranty? Purchase of a different house for the first year until I'm comfortable with the condtion of all the condition appliances, or if I'm concerned about something breaking that I couldn't afford to replace that year (i.e. 20 year old air conditioning unit).

"They have sent out several companies throughout the years that I have had coverage with them. All of the companies have been very professional, quick to do the repairs" once here, however, wait times for service have started to become longer and longer. This is not something you want to encounter when you are dealing with Cooling and Heating issues.

7 components of a good home warranty

Home warranty companies are the number one most complained about category on Angie’s List. If you decide to purchase a warranty, look for the components of a good home warranty before signing the contract.

Home warranties

Year after year home warranty companies have topped the Angie's List most complained about category list, with nearly half of member reports in this category rating these companies unfavorably. The key behind this appears to be an expectations gap between the companies and their clients regarding what is covered and whether service calls on covered items are entirely free.

A home warranty, or home service contract, provides service, repair or replacement on a home’s major systems and appliances for a usual term of one year. They've also topped our list of most-complained about categories for three years running.

First, call your insurance company and tell them you do not want any proceeds paid to the contractor under your policy as you are not going with them.  This way they can not collect money on your behalf.  Insurance will typically have you sign a form for release of funds anyway but this is a good extra step to make sure your signature isn't forged.  Second, call the contractor and tell them you will not be needing their services afterall.  Did your husband pay a deposit?  If so it may be non-refundable.  Then follow up with a certified letter.

An email as well doesn't hurt but some states don't yet recognize email as a form of communication for legally binding documentation.  This may have changed and I'm sure more states do recognize them as I haven't followed that topic elsewhere as much as I used to.  The contractor's office should be local.  A sure fire way to ensure they got the message is to deliver the letter to the office of the contractor and have someone at the office sign a duplicate stating it has been recieved and read.  There's no arguing whether they received it or not by doing that.

Hopefully you've learned your lesson about high pressure sales techniques and storm chasers looking for a quick buck.  Some people find out a much harder way.  While these guys may be legitimate you should always do your homework on a contractor before signing the contract.  Unless you have water running out of the house and the work has to be done on the spot it's not so much of an emergency that it can't wait until the next day.

It was a long laborious process. The unit had been repaired before and it took many appointments before they decided to replace the entire but they did get it fixed.

AHS assigned

as the contractor. Repairs failed and the contractor returned to our home a total of four times (08/20/14, 08/30/14, 09/05/14 and 09/15/14). The first time the washer stopped running after only three cycles. We called AHS, informed them we had serious medical issues at home at the time and asked for their intervention, citing

It went ok . The plummer was professional in how he corrected the problem ,he gave advice that would minimize my chances of this type of ploblem happening again . He cleaned up after he concluded the job.

My AC broke at the beginning of June. After several repair calls, it was decided that the unit should be replaced. After wrangling for months and trying to deduct money that I'd paid out of pocket from the amount that they owed me, they finally acknowledged owing me $1,062 and said the check would be on its way. On
Collinsville Home Warranty Companies Provider Name Locked
. 18, 6+ months after opening my claim, a manager promised I would have a check in my mailbox within 30 days. 30 days passed, and still no check. I called to ask about it, and they didn't even know what I was talking about. They promised to call me the following day once they had figured it out. They didn't call me back, so I called again and they said their books had been closed for the month and they won't be writing any more checks for 4-6 more weeks -- 8.5 to 9 months since my claim was opened. How does a business even close their books without reconciling accounts payable? They appear to be dealing in bad faith, running out the clock and hoping I go away, and/or trying to fudge their books.
Nobody should do business with this company under any circumstances whatsoever. Even if you convince them you have a claim (hard enough) they will try to cheat you out of your own money, and if you catch them and have spotless bookkeeping that proves you right, they will then simply not pay. These people are both dishonorable and incompetent, and there is no cure for that.

I had only about 3 minutes of hot water before it would go cold. I made a repair request online at ahs.com and in a couple hours the contractor called. He came over when i was available and replaced the entire unit in less than 2 hours. All i had to pay was my deductible which was 100. I've also used them to service my furnace, ahs is well worth the money because you never have any major out of pocket expenses.

This was part of the purchase price of our home, which was listed by
Collinsville Home Warranty Companies Provider Name Locked
Realty. We were only given a receipt at the closing and did not see the contract, which stated that there "may be a deductible" until after the closing. We were told by the
Collinsville Home Warranty Companies Provider Name Locked
realtor that all the appliances in the home would be covered but as it turn out we can't even have them looked at unless we pay $100 to get someone to the house to decide whether the problem is covered. The fact that the previous owner bent the hinge on the refrigerator, for example, is not covered. So far, nothing else seems to be.
- Marlene D.

Great! Anytime we have a question we can e-mail, or text him and he gets back with us in a timely manner. You don't get that kind of service from a lot of company reps. He was fantastic and if more companies had customer service like him, they'd be a lot more successful!
- lauren L.

Purchased warranty when bought house, had pool coverage and paid for insurance for anything that was missed
during inspection, Pool heater blew two weeks after close and pr oblem was not found during inspection, They would not cover fixing it.

Would never do business with them again, as all their time was spent finding away not to pay for repair 7
