"they were very responsive. was on time and came in and did the work. I have a few specks that I will probably call them back on when i have the time and have no doubt they will come right out. Great company!

"The owner (I think) showed me several installations, but when I showed him some pics of our existing unit he indicated that it could be rebuilt at a much lower cost vs. an outright" replacement. Although he didn't carry the parts needed, he even provided some leads which I eventually used. He deserves a thumbs-up for recommending what was best for me vs. what was best for him. I was considering frameless shower enclosures, and he chuckled and said that they leak like a
unless a rain-type showerhead is used, or the enclosure is large enough to keep spray off of the frameless corners. He said people then buy seal kits, which block leaks but which also destroy the frameless look.

"Called for an appointment and they were able to schedule the job in very quickly. Arrived during the time specified and got right to work. Made sure everything was properly taped" off. Estimated the job was going to last about two hours and was finished before that. Answered all my questions on the best way to clean the tub and to keep it looking new. They were very professional and came in and got the job done. Original tub in a 1950's house and it looks brand new. If you are thinking of having something refinished, call these guys. They did a tremendous job!

Bathtub refinishing

Over time, the bathtub can begin to show signs of wear with stains, scratches, a dull finish or other ugly marks. Bathtub refinishing is an option that can return a bathtub or shower enclosure to like-new appearance.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I had a non-porcelain bathtub, and I had porcelain chemicals in it, so it peeled the bottom of the tub. We were selling the house, and we needed to get it refinished, so they refinished it all over the bottom and up the top. They could have done our countertops, but I just stuck with the refinishing. It looked like brand new; it was beautiful. We thought it was a fair price for what they did. It came out great. I have no complaints I can think of. It would have been nice if they were cheaper, but we thought it was fair enough. There were no hitches or issues.

Everything went smoothly according to plan. Work took about two weeks from start to finish. My Granddaughter used to live in this house, and when she came over she couldn't beleive the difference.

The work went very smoothly. The installer,

protected the path from the door to the work area to prevent excess tracking of dirt into the house. He just got down to it and worked! Each time we peeked in, the progress was evident. He did a great job of minimizing dust and debris. He explained his work as we inquired. The liner material fit precisely (good measuring by the estimator,

), the fixtures are attractive and functional. We used them for the shower based on our positive experience on the bathtub. Minor re-caulking was needed and they responded promptly. Both jobs were very positive experiences. I gave a "B" rating for price because we didn't get updated quotes from others we solicited in the past. If the price wasn't the best, the quality made up for it.

Bill Belobraydic is the best contractor I can imagine. He not only oversaw a major remodel, he also did most of the work himself and made sure all the work, whether done by him or sub-contracted, was done according to an old-fashioned standard of quality. Bill is reliable, responsible, smart, skilled, a creative problem solver, honest, fair, and pleasant to have around. If there was an emergency or a crisis and what big remodeling job doesn t have a few of those? I could count on him to figure out a way to resolve it in the best way possible. He always showed up when he said he would. His recommendations for other trades people were always excellent (because they had already passed the Bill test for working up to those old-fashioned standards). Of course, he is often booked up, but I would advise shifting your own schedule around in order to get on a waiting list for him do your remodeling job. He turns what could be a totally miserable experience into a pleasure.

This has been a nightmare. We are now 6 weeks into the re-model and to date we have no functional bathrooms. We did not even have a functional toilet for 1 week! This company DID NOT provide an all-inclusive remodel. I have acted as general contractor, finding someone to build the tub surround, do the plumbing (that could not be completed 1 bath at a time) and then had to chase them around to order the tile (they wanted me to order and pick up while they did not provide adequate measurement to do that). Because the plumbing was inter-connected, we had to gut both baths and then once that was done, they had not ordered the tile for BR #1 on time. We lost 7 days waiting for tile, 3 more days waiting for their workers to show up and then once they started, several things were not correct and had to be re-done. In all, a very small shower remodel took 6 weeks total. The bath/spa still not done. Tiles put on did not match, had to remove, reorder was not correct amount - still 1/2 done!

I was told it could be suitably finished and would take 5-6 hours. It took 5 hours and was more than suitably finished. At the end I was told if I marked it up for any reason, or if I wanted more 'grit' on the bottom for standing on, just call. I made

a couple weeks later as I dropped some handles I was installing, and Alfonse came out within 2 days for an hour or two and correctly my mistakes, at no cost. I highly suggest you use
