"I previously did not know of
before learning of them through Angie's List. I chose them based on their top-rating and very complementary" reviews from previous clients and am very pleased with my decision.
, the owner, personally spoke with me by phone and then took time out of his day to meet with me at my new home (at no charge), so we can both walk through the property and allow
to return to me a specific quote for services.
was also very helpful as I decided among several different colors and combinations, offering his knowledge from years of experience, which
to a much better final look that I had anticipated. He also took the time to explain his team's process and guarantees that helped alleviate any concerns I may have had about working with a new contractor and made me feel very comfortable moving forward with them.
was very detailed and honest with his pricing and did not try any gimmicky sales tricks to get me to agree. Rather, he simply explained what was involved, how long it would take and what it would cost to do the job the right way, which was exactly what I requested. During the project, which lasted several days and was completed on time, I had the pleasure of visiting the unit and was able to witness how professional and diligent
's crew was. The lines and corners were razor sharp and any holes or blemishes left by the previous owner were no longer visible. Upon completion of the project,
's team did a great job cleaning up, leaving no
that they were even there. I could not have been more impressed with
and his team, nor more pleased with their completed work. I would recommend them to anyone seeking extremely competent and skilled painters for their home.

"The motto of the company is "Our work is like magic." Those words are certainly true at our house which was transformed from a dingy dull look to a bright" cheerful house. The work was performed in a timely manner with excellent workmanship displayed. We are grateful for this company and commend it to others in need of professional painters.

Remodeling tip: Should painting or flooring come first?

Angie Hicks responds to a member who wants to know whether interior painting should come before or after the installation of hardwood flooring.

Interior Painting

Professional decorators say painting is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to dramatically change the look of a room. It's also one of the more accessible do-it-yourself projects for the homeowner, though a professional interior painting company will likely do a better and more long-lasting job.

Dear Angie: How important is it to repair plaster before repainting? Our ceilings have peeling paint that we’re pretty sure was caused by past water damage. Since the water problem is no longer an issue, can we simply repaint the ceilings or should we first repair any underlying plaster damage? – Sara S., Elgin, Illinois

Angie's Answers

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

Remember, you not only have to remove the popcorn texture, but also redo the ceiling in some other texture.

Price will depend on several factors:

1) how much the contractor you choose hates removing popcorn or textured ceilings - some charge $1 or so/SF extra just because they hate it. There are even some who bid total drywall replacement cheaper than removing the popcorn, so you have to first find contractors who are happy to do that work, or your prices will be out of the realistic range

2) if the popcorn predates about 1990, then it could likely have asbestos in it, which doubles or triples the price, and in many cases uncapsulating it with a spray coating and then removing the drywall entirely is actually cheaper than all the protective measures necessary if it is scraped off.

3) whether the popcorn is primarily gypsum and vermiculite (comes off REAL easy) or was the plaster of paris variety, which takes a fair amount of soaking to soften it enough to scrape off

4) what type of finish you are replacing it with - if a textured ceiling, slapcoat, knockdown finish or paneling, not real problem. If you want to go with a perfectly smooth ceiling (generally a bad idea as any variations in the drywall on a ceiling surface really shows up dramatically), then it will demand a lot of care in preparing the scraped surface, and a complete surface drywall compound skim coat to smooth out the scrapes and gouges from the removal process.

5) what underlying conditions are - if there is a lot of furniture to move around (should go to adjacent rooms) or cover and work around, high-quality rug or hardwood floor to super-protect or such, will drive cost up.

I have seen costs run from as low as $0.60/SF to $1.25/SF (for removal only). Generally, remove and recoat with a surface texture of some kind (anything but smooth) and paint will run you about $2.50-3.50/SF.

Now the bad news - if asbestos containing, can run from $5-10/SF. Many homeowners in that situation go the other legal route - have it encapsulated with an asbestos-rated sealant by an asbestos contractor, then paint it and leave it for the next homeowner to decide what to do about it. Some contractors encapsulate it and then put a 1/4" thick drywall layer over it - this usually looks like a disaster unless it has a VERY rough textured finish on it, because putting drywall sheet over a rough surface like popcorn invariably means a wavy surface commonly looks like a gently rolling ocean surface.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
This is a good question.  However, the question makes the assumption that there is a paint that covers everything in 1 coat, which I don't believe is the case.  My recommendation is Benjamin Moore's Aura.  Now the fine print.  Aura will cover very well because it dries to approximately twice the thickness of other paints.  However, Aura says it will cover any color in never more than 2 coats, but there are exceptions to that as well, including some deep reds.  The main thing is the color change.  If the color you are using is within the same family of colors, you have a chance, we've also had pretty good success of grey covering over tan in 1 coat, but if you're making a major color change, don't expect any paint to cover perfectly in 1 coat.

Some other 1 coat coverage paints you could use would be Sherwin Williams Duration, and Behr Ultra Premium Plus.

Hope this helps!
Without seeing the project I'm not sure exactly what is happening.  HOWEVER, I've never heard of someone "floating" over paint blisters - just logically that can't work.  If air or moisture are trapped (because that's what causes blisters) painting over them won't fix the initial problem.

I have a couple suggestions - My first would have been to contact the paint manufacturer - whether it's sherwin williams, benjamin moore, behr, etc. to see if they would send a rep out to give their recommendation.  We have done this before starting a project to get the best possible recommendation for work to be done and have found them to be very helpful in diagnosing what is currently going on and the best way to fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would call either the better business bureau or maybe the local paper if your contractor isn't willing to work through the problem with you.  Also, If your contractor warrantied the work I might re-read that to see what they cover if anything.

My guess is that there will have to be some sort of dispute resolution process.

Hope this helps!

Interior Painting reviews in Tampa

I really like this company. They did an excellent job. They came to the job generally about 30 minutes early. They were patient with every one of my nit picking questions. They were very responsive, answering phone calls off business hours and late on weekends. These are great guys, easy to work with and are flexible to your schedule. You get what you pay for. I would definitely hire them again.

came out the day after I called to give me an estimate for the work to be done. He was very professional and honest about how things would look, particularly regarding ceiling damage that had been done. The estimate was under any others I received, but was the most thorough. On the first day of painting,
Tampa Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and a crew of 3-4 others came out to begin repairs and start painting. They arrived on time and I don't feel that they wasted a minute of the day. Upon their arrival, I added a hallway and an additional wall. I was told I would only be charged for the time and materials at the rate that was clearly listed on my estimate. I was very pleased with this information and had them do the extra work. The work took 2 days, with 4 people the first day and
Tampa Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
came back alone the second day. I was impressed that the company sent only the number of people really necessary to complete the work, when I probably wouldn't have known any better had they sent 2 or 3 people the second day. I was not able to be home at the end of the job, and

said that payment by phone would be no problem. However, when I arrived back at the house, I discovered that a couple of the large patch jobs had not been properly textured before painting. I called

This is the second time we have hired
Tampa Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and we were really pleased with their speed, work ethic, professionalism, and attention to detail. Several times they went above and beyond to make our home look like new. I even asked them to help move and rehang a 200 lb mirror and all their guys helped us out without batting an eye. Would totally recommend them to anyone and we have done. Very satisfied.

The painter was prompt, friendly and accommodating. He did a very professional job on both rooms and completed the work quickly. We are very happy with how the work turned out and would highly recommend this company to anyone considering hiring a painter. We feel that we received a great job at a good value. We will definitely call them for our next painting project.
- Kimberly S.

Integrity was terrific. Because of personal issues I needed to postpone at the last minute. They were very understanding. We rescheduled and they started on time. I also added a third color (to a few of the trim pieces). Finished earlier than we thought. Very professional crew.

was very professional and courteous. They did an excellent job with removing the wallpaper from the kitchen and bathroomand then painting them. They were very careful and lined paper on the floors and kitchen cabinets to prevent spillage and drips. We were thinking about doing this project ourselves but glad we didn't try it. Removing wallpaper is not an easy job. We would use

It went perfectly as it always does. I have used
Tampa Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
for many years both in my home and business . They always go above and beyond. They point out things I have missed and take care of them. They are so careful, neat and easy to have around. They use quality products and the paint lasts even in the Florida sun. I have recommended them to my neighbors and they have been similarly pleased.
I would highly recommend
