I definitely plan on using
The closets themselves are sturdy and appear to be durable. They are also very adjustable and fit our needs perfectly. We are very pleased with the increased storage space and feel it was well worth the money.
before we moved in.
subcontractors to evaluate, make design suggestions, and quote the job. The
scope of the project originally involved replacing tile with hardwood floors
throughout; however, we decided to take it a step further… After all was said and
done we ended up converting two bedrooms into a master suite (complete with a
huge master bath), knocking down some walls to create an open concept
kitchen/living/dining, installed hardwood throughout living spaces and
carpeting in the bedrooms.
we were a young couple who had just bought their first house. He made suggestions
on good subcontractors and all of them did an excellent job. To save money, I
hired the subs myself and
the tight schedules I left them with. The total project took approximately 6
more items to the list… speaking of which, it’s the little things that really
make a difference and these guys really have that down!
If you are thinking about a big or small project,
& Company can tackle it in stride and do an outstanding job!
At the end of the day, the pricing of this job was suspect. The estimate was for $2,060 with $260 credit for the 4 hour Big Deal. That works out to $65 per hour and $2,060 divided by $65 is 32 hours, which is four 8 hour days.
Despite the math working out perfectly, HC claimed it wasn't "necessarily calculated that way as they don't really go by hourly rates" (despite the fact Big Deals are and continue to be offered that way), and the actual method for calculating the estimate was never actually provided. Also, when I questioned the amount of time spent the response was, "well how do you know he didn't really work 8 hours?" It's not that difficult to figure out. My estimate is based on time-stamped store receipts for materials and the amount of work completed each day. Day 2 per the receipt materials were paid for at 10:45 AM and on day 3 at 11:25 AM. On both days the materials picked up were needed before the work for that day could be done. Had he worked 8 hours, he would still have been there when I got home from work.
At the time I was so anxious to have the job done correctly I agreed to not press further on the price, just wanting the whole thing behind me so I could finally have the plumbing work done on the shower valves that was the purpose of the whole job to begin with. I will stand by that decision but I am obligated to post my actual experience and opinion, which is that I shouldn't have had to push HC for a refund in the first place, the price should have been adjusted according to the work actually performed.”
