"We have renovated homes for the past 25 years but we never owned a home with a stucco exterior. I joined Angie's List, in part, because no one I knew could provide a solid recommendation for stucco work.
We selected
Saint Paul Stucco Contractors Provider Name Locked
because of the excellent ratings and the fact that Bill promptly returned calls, offered sound advice and provided a reasonable range of options.
They did not disappoint. The crew did a nice job of explaining the process, worked around our schedule, demonstrated outstanding craftsmanship and took the time and effort to thoroughly clean-up the job site (and put down clean plastic in the event of more rain). In addition, they came back to fix a small section that I uncovered after the job was completed.
Frankly, we're blown away by the transformation. The color and texture are spot-on and the house looks fabulous.

"I am in the process of a kitchen expansion that inclides a new bathroom / mudroom / office. I hung the drywall with a friend and solicited people on Craigslist to bid on the taping and mudding.
Saint Paul Stucco Contractors Provider Name Locked
was right in the ballpark and did the job for what he quoted - he was also great to work with - communicated well - showed up when he said he would - did quality work - finished ontime. I will recommend him to anyone looking for taping and mudding work."

"I called for a quote and
Saint Paul Stucco Contractors Provider Name Locked
came to the house promptly and droped off the quote. I called to ask if he would come over and walk me through the quote, which he did promptly. We signed the contract that day and he explained the schedule would be based on weather, if it rained then other jobs could take longer. It took one day for the sandblasting, two days to dry, and two days to apply the stucco. After drying they came out and put a gray color on the foundation. The house looks great.

They were responsive, pleasant, and they cleaned up after themselves in the yard.

"The exterior of our 1.5-story 1926 bungalow has stucco on the first floor and cedar shingles on the second floor gable ends (including above the front porch). We’ve lived in the house for 33 years. The stucco was painted white before our time, and the paint was now peeling. We (sadly) had all of the exterior wood covered by aluminum 28 years ago. Now we were ready to have the exterior completely restored—stucco sandblasted and re-dashed, aluminum removed, wood repaired as needed, wood scraped and painted, new wooden storm doors front and back, plus some extras (isn’t that always the case?). I bought a kit to test for lead, and determined that the paint on the stucco did not contain lead, but the paint on the woodwork did (as expected).

We talked to stucco people and siding people, but could not find anyone willing to take responsibility for managing and contracting the whole job, which required a lot of coordination and cooperation among the crews that did the siding removal, stucco work, carpentry, painting, storm window removal and reinstallation, and rain gutter removal and reinstallation. Finally, I sent an e-mail to

of Metropolis Construction asking if he would take on the job. I had seen

’s ad in the newsletter of the Twin Cities Bungalow Club, but neither that ad nor his web site indicates that
Saint Paul Stucco Contractors Provider Name Locked
does exterior work. Fortunately for us, he does, and we hired him to manage the whole job.

From start to finish (six weeks) we could not have been more pleased with the professionalism and consideration of everyone who worked on this job. All were polite, articulate, and helpful. They cleaned up well after the work was done, and as we all know, work crews on exterior jobs bring along radios, but this was the first time we have ever heard crews listening to Minnesota Public Radio(!).

always listened to our concerns and ideas, and he always had one or more solutions to offer. We believe that he appreciates the qualities of old houses and really enjoys working on them. He and his team of carpenters did outstanding work in restoring or replacing wood that had been mutilated by the application of aluminum siding or, in a few cases, had suffered water damage. The final step was to fit, sand, stain, and varnish the new wooden storm doors.

Nicko (

minimized the dust infiltration into our house by taping plastic over all of the windows and doors, but one of our neighbors was a bit miffed that he didn’t tape her windows.

and his helper also laid down plastic on the ground around the house, and cleaned up well after the job. The final product is excellent.

did the original work he was hired for and was paid 3600. I re hired him to redash the stucco after I decided to go in a different direction (I did not like the way the color turned out that I picked). I paid him 1500 in advance for this work. This was on 8/16/2010. It is now 10/5/2010 and I cannot get him to call me back or show up to complete the work. Updated as of 3/30/2011- work still not performed and K & D Stucco appears to be doing business as Allways Stucco."

"We had several estimates done. I went to Angie's list and sorted the stucco contractors in the area by rating. There weren't a lot of reviews, but there were enough. I emailed five of them and ended up with 4 estimates. We picked them because they were prompt with the estimate and the price was the lowest. They proposed patching, sandblasting and redashing. Shortly after the contract was signed, the patching crew came through. The dealt with the big stuff but missed some smaller cracks, not a big issue. The sandblasting took place 4-5 weeks before re-dashing. In the interim, we had the trim painted by a paint company. The sandblasters - a subcontractor - left a big mess, but seemed to do the job. When the stucco crew came, they were polite and set about doing their work. They set up the scaffolding one day and finished the stucco work over the next two days. The work seems to be generally good, but there a few issues left outstanding. Only half the basement window wells were stuccoed. Some, but not all, surfaces that had been remodeled years agom and where a different base stucco was used, are a different shade. Some of new paint on the trim was removed when they removed their tape. The company has not come out to look at the house and has told me that it will all blend in later due to the stucco curing process. It has promised to fix it after a "season" has passed if it's still a problem. It said it only did the bottom of the windows wells that were already stuccoed, ignoring the ones that had been repaired over the years. We're not satisfied. We wonder how, if the same amount of material was deposited everywhere, some of the remodeled areas look fine and others do not. The window wells are incomplete and we plan to repaint the trim ourselves. All in all, the work so far gets a C and the customer support is lower than that. We can't recommend them until we gain the confidence that the final work will be done properly. So we will come back to Angie's list after a "season" and modify this review. In the meantime, our house looks a bit odd if you look at it closely."

"It's hard to imagine a more delightful experience with a contractor. I'm 61 and it's the best experience I've ever had.

Lavoi the owner, kept his word on everything. He was always punctual, communicated about everything, and accommodated changing our minds about color part-way through the project without additional labor charges. The workmanship was excellent and his two workers were great. I wound up taking them all to lunch on the last day because we all got along so well. I gave all of them nice tips at the end because they went above and beyond the call of duty. He used a sprayer to paint. I worried - unnecessarily it turned out - about over-spray. He and his men carried shields to contain the spray whenever needed.

is a small contractor but very principled and puts customer service and quality at the top. I can recommend them without reservation to anyone.

and his crew were a total delight throughout the project.

was an excellent resource for advising us on paint colors and other questions that we had. He was always responsive, returned calls immediately and was open to any of our ideas on the project. His paint crew was excellent, always on time, extremely conscientious, particular about site cleanup and extremely skilled in the work that they did. They took great precautions with my flowerbeds, were always friendly and helpful, and so enjoyable to have around that we missed them when the project was completed!

is personable and extremely easy to work with. He is responsive and his number one goal is a happy customer. His professionalism started with our first meeting. He listened to what we wanted and compared to the other garage companies we talked to, included more details for the garage to make it match our house. All the while maintaining a competitive price. He talked to us every step of the way during construction to make sure things were done as we hoped. He wants his customers to tell him if there is ever anything that they are even a little unhappy about and he means it. His attitude is that the garage is going to be standing for a LONG time, so let's get it right. And he did. We couldn't be happier with our new garage and the job he did for us."
