"I'm pleased with my service, but the installation left very much to be desired. The installer didn't seem to have much experience" and didn't properly ground the wiring or do a very good job of running the cable into the house. I had to call and have another installer out to try and fix the problem. The second person knew even less than the first, but I was able to get the parts I needed from him and do the work myself. Simply stated I like the actual programming, but the customer service is bad.

Installer came out the first time, identified two trees as obstacles, offered solutions. Installers returned when we decided on placement of dish, they were running behind schedule but did call to tell us this. They were friendly and explained clearly how the new system worked by walking us through each step. Even though it was past 7p, they stayed ...More until the job was done. One of the guys forgot some paperwork but brought it by later in the evening on his own time. We were having trouble with one of the receivers and he fixed it right there even though he was off the clock.

My overall service with has been positive. Customer Service Reps who answer phones are helpful and pleasant. They try to solve problems or know who to get on the phone who can. Any negative issues I have are limited only due to equipment and not Dish service. Since we own our receiving equipment, we have had trouble finding dish ...More equipment to match. It is older and we are always told to upgrade for better service, but rental is expensive and we are not yet ready to go Hi-Def. At that point we will need all new everything (TV, dish, receiver). Another limitation is that since we are cell phone only (no land line) we are unable to use the pay-per-view options, since those require land lines to order. Overall, we continue to be satisfied.

I used dish for three years, and once it settled down I was very pleased with the service and the price. Note: insist that the installation done for you is done by an echostar employee and not a sub-contractor. Echostar owns . The first trip by a sub-contractor was sub-standard. The echostar employee who came out for the second ...More trip commented on how poor the workmanship was. Also, if you get the local channel package for the twin cities, you may need to have a second dish installed. This is done at no charge to you, but for me they didn't automatically do it. So make sure you've got all the local channels (17 was the problem) before you sign off on the work.

After much research, I decided to order services from DirecTV today. About 2 hours later, I ended up canceling my order. Here is why:
I was initially told I could receive the “Entertainment Package” for 20.99 per month for the first 12 months and that the price would increase to $45.99 for the second 12 months. ...More I was also told I could receive bundled internet services (15 Mbps) from Century Link for $29.99 per month. Finally, I was told I could add my Verizon phone account to the bundle and save an additional $5 per month.
To order phone and internet services, it was necessary to first order television services. After doing so, I was transferred to a representative who handled bundling. In talking with her, I learned I was misled by the previous sales agent. While she quoted the same costs for television service, she informed me that the best she could offer was lower speed internet service
(just 5 Mbps) at a higher price of $34.95 per month. She also informed me that additional bundling services and savings were not available for my Verizon account.
It is important to note that this information was only available after ordering television service.
I was disappointed to have been baited and asked to speak with a manager. Unfortunately, he had even worse news. In addition to the reality expressed by the bundling agent, he informed me that the cost of my television package would actually increase to over $60 per month the second year of my contract.
While the manager was very apologetic, he said there was nothing he could do. I asked if he could check the recordings of my
conversations with the sales agents and he said that the recordings were only used for internal purposes and for evaluating performance, not necessarily the accuracy of the information relayed. It came down to my word against the charges the agents entered as they established my new account – charges and prices that differed from those verbally expressed.
So, after a very lengthy process and several phone conversations, I learned that I would be charged $400+ more over the life of a two-year contract and receive services that were inferior to those initially quoted. My trust and confidence in the company evaporated. I can only imagine the confusion, frustration, misinformation and charges I might experience as a customer.
And that is when I canceled my order.
DirecTV is a big company and I am positive they view my patronage as insignificant. However, I am quite sure that I am not the only one who has been misled. It is very unfortunate that clarity, accuracy and honesty seem to be missing from DirecTV’s corporate culture.
