Internet Service Reviews in Saint Paul

The tech was very nice the professional. He fixed some connections on the outside of the house that were not done to code last year when
installed the internet service at the house. When we reviewed the security system he had in his order it was different than what was in my order that I had worked with the sales rep on. The tech did a good job by calling corporate to get an updated price quote. The price was not the same as what the sale rep had told me. I called my sale rep multiple times and he would not pick up. Then we discussed how I wanted the detached garage covered by the system and the tech informed me they could not place sensors in an unheated place. So at this point I canceled the install. The tech informed me that this happens all the time. The sales rep never would call me back so I canceled the service.

I tried to sign up for services online and the website took me through the process and then said I needed to chat with a representative to "finalize" things. I spent 90 minutes chatting with a representative who passive-aggressively tried to steer me toward other bundles that I didn't want, including one that had a 2-year contract (I wanted contract-free), a triple-play package including home phone service (which I didn't want), and a higher-priced package including more premium cable channels. Because 2-3 minutes or more sometimes lapsed between responses from the chat representative, this took a lot of unnecessary time. Finally he gave me the plan I wanted in the first place and signed me up. My home was already connected to their cable infrastructure, so they sent me their "self-install kit" which is just the cable box, modem, wires, and instructions. When it arrived in a few days, I installed it easily and my TV and internet was up and running! Only problem was I didn't have all the TV channels I expected. Turns out my chat representative signed me up for a different package than I wanted, with fewer channels (and some "benefits" that I didn't want and can no longer remember) at the same price. Furious, I called
and got to speak to a human after about 20 min. The person I spoke to was helpful, fixed my issue and actually got me a better deal on what I wanted by waiving some DVR rental costs for the first year.
HOWEVER, I'm having trouble with their internet services. Several times a day, my internet will cut out completely, or go from its usual 20+MB/s speeds to <5 MB/s or less. A few days ago I was essentially working on a 56k modem (.05 MB/s) for about a half hour. Called
again, and after some troubleshooting, they agreed that a tech would have to come look at it. The next available tech could come 4 days later, so I waited. The tech actually called ahead and asked if he could come an hour earlier than scheduled and I said sure. He was great, discovered a problem in how the cable box had been connected by an earlier
tech (it was "inverted"?), and all signs suggested the the problem was fixed. Two days later, here I am, and the problem is back. In fact, I've been writing this review partly while waiting on hold with their service representative. AND I'll have to wait a few minutes to post this review, because my internet's experiencing one of those frequent, intermittent service drops again...

I am leasing

's router/modem for internet service. I assumed leasing would ensure support. Ha. My wireless devices are continually "dropped," so every time I attempt to print, I must unplug the router for 30 seconds (classic reboot). This occurs daily. Fed up, I began calling their support line telephone tree (accessible via DISH network) for technical support. Each time I obtained the individual's name and code number. At first they claimed the problem was my equipment, even though I spent hours on the phone with Canon, Brother,

and Microsoft. All of my devices are up to date and functioning. Finally a

service tech deemed my router defective, since it would not "update," and I was told a replacement would be sent to me in 3-5 days. This was early September. The notes supposedly made by the tech in management I spoke to at the time (who made promises of tech visits, monetary compensation for lost service, etc. ) since mid-September mysteriously disappeared, even though I had their name and badge number. To date, October 12, 2013, I have not received the router.

repeatedly told me the router was either "in the mail," or it would be delivered overnight. (Over night means at least 10 days.)
I finally was able to speak with a Dish Executive Escalation rep, since in my opinion their affiliate's poor service was giving DISH a bad name. This individual did not grasp the concept that DISH, as the prime contractor, is responsible for their subcontractor,

Good luck to those who live in St.

where internet providers are few and far between. And I thought their competition's support was bad!! I will cancel their internet service today. The competition supposedly stands behind their service. I'll try them again.

was great. My computer "crashed" 2 days prior to the appointment. I called
Saint Paul Internet Service Providers Provider Name Locked
and he walked me thru a diagnostic check. I was able to reinstall MS Windows and fix our immediate problem. I was impressed that he could help me over the phone as well as spend his time on my problems without being paid. I set an appointment with him to streamline the performance of our computer which he did in 1.5 hours. He never charged me for the 30+ minutes of phone time prior to our appointment.

Overall, it started out good. Service was about 60-70% there when I needed it. Now, I find most of the time I can't get online at all. Sometimes, I do get online but system speed is very slow. Tech support tries to help but depending on who is working and what mood that person is in, support is not consistent. One rep asked us why we would choose to by

computers! Last week USI promised to send out another tech to bring us an antena that would boost our signal and speed (USI system is wireless but dependant on broadcast pods in the various neighborhoods they serve). Tech never called or showed up. I'm going back to the other service I had for a more reliable (& more expensive) internet service provider.

Installation was painless. We have had occasional hang-ups over the past couple of months but nothing like the problems we had with Qwest, and the connection is much faster. We haven't had to call with a service request after 1 year of service. The monthly fee is expensive, but it's worth it to have reliable, always-on, most problem-free internet access.

$199 per year, US long distance, caller ID, web based voice mail and many other features included. Some inconsistency with voice mail, caller ID, messages & call records. Overall, great value for the price. Seems that quality on service gets less the bigger the company gets. Opened a ticket on rewards system three months ago, no resolution yet, hence the C on responsiveness.

Fabulous. Transitioning away from my old ISP (Twin Cities Internet) was a breeze. I contacted

and told them what I wanted to do. They told me what I needed to do to authorize them to take over my DSL service and everything actually cut over 2 days earlier than I expected. I have never had a billing issue. Tech Support is exceptional and they are always willing to help. The only issue I ever had was with mysteriously losing connection when it would rain. It turned out to be a Qwest issue (which

helped diagnose for me) and once Qwest replaced my dropline, we were even able to bump my connection to a faster speed at no increased price from

(Qwest charges more, but that's typical for them). My router hasn't been made for years, but

still provides configuration instructions and assistance when I call. I also have a STATIC

address where others provide dynamic, which can get annoying. Dial-up away from home is also included. Keep up the good work!

I have been using

now for some time and have had no significant problems. Their web mail features and spam blocking are quite nice. We also use the free web space and find it very useful.

I was an early adopter of Tivo, and for many years, I was able to use my Tivo with the

cable box. It wasnt perfect, but it worked 98% of the time. When my cable box died, they replaced it with a newer model that was incompatible with my Tivo. Not willing to live without a DVR after 6 years addicted to mine, I decided to try the

digital cable box with DVR. It was the buggiest, worst designed piece of consumer electronic equipment I have ever owned. It would mute and the controller would not be able to unmute; it would stop displaying the picture; it would tape only the first 5 minutes of a show; most problems could only be solved by turning the box off and on, or completely unplugging it, or resetting the box, which would screw up anything that was currently taping. Needless to say, I turned it in and Im now using satellite, although I still have cable Internet with
