and called to setup a consultation. I was very happy with the first phone call to the last day with training of the system and level of professionalism by
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
’s team. We met
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
(General Manger), Bill (system Designer) and
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
(Project Manager) the following week at our house. They spent over two hours with us as we walked the whole house and listed everything that we envisioned.
After we walked the house, we all sat down in the living room. The team from
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
helped us build our system. I really enjoyed this process as this made everything
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
and allowed us to take charge of our project and budget. After we created a
system, the team processed the deposit and setup a revisit at the

Design Center in

VA. I think it goes without saying, that showroom is amazing and exact replica of a something out of interior designs magazine. The team had arranged this revisit so we can see everything that was going in our project and ease of use with the system. My husband was very impressed with the premium brands that

Two week later, we had the
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
install team at our house to start the project. In between the store visit and the install, I got multiple calls from Bill regarding the status of the products. Our project took about five days and
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
communicated daily and provided and update on the project. I was amazed in the quality of workmanship in the install.

My experience with

The provider contacted me right away to schedule an appointment and came out the following day.
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew arrived when promised, quickly performed the inspection and maintenance, and discussed some recommendations for minor repairs. I felt the prices were fair and reasonable and did not feel pressured to purchase a bunch of extras. I would definitely use

Door again and would recommend this company to others.

We could not be more pleased with our experience. Our garage door was completely broken - cables snapped and there was no way to lift the door to get our car out. We called at 5:15p on a Sunday and they were here within an hour. The installers were very professional and walked us through everything they saw. We were given options on what work we wanted done - this was great since we're on a budget. The work was done in less than 2 hours - site was completely cleaned up, as well. Will definitely be referring to anyone who needs work done on their garage!

Love this place! I called to set up an appointment with them we did play a little phone tag but
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
was so warm and welcoming, come to find out they are that busy! She even explained everything to me from the type of mount I will like best to where to get the least price. Simply wonderful. The installers were early and called to let me know they were and asked if it were ok to go ahead and come instead of assuming it was. If you're looking for something new and different from a service provider, this is a great place. My entire experience has been enjoyable, I highly recommend them!

Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
went thru the features of a Control4 home automation system and helped us select the most important features as a starting point that was within our budget for now, with a clear path for future additions to the system over time. He was prompt and communicated clearly the progress of the work. After all the components were functioning and
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
had setup the programming to our liking, he went over the operation of the system which was very easy to understand. Also one of the beauties of the Control4 controller is that if we want to change some of the programming,
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
can do it remotely.

The electrical functions of the interior bathroom (no outside light source) died 4 days before guests were descending on me and I was a very crazy customer to deal with. Mr.
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his associate came promptly after my panicked call, identified the problems, gave advice plus a general sense of costs and where to avoid extra costs. I was so pushed time, they even picked the fixtures I wanted. When they came back, the job was done quickly and they cleaned up after themselves very thoroughly.
It is clear this company does quality work and they are very nice people on top of it.

This is the worst experience that I have ever had with a contractor. We spend over $100,000 each year on contractors at our home, and this is by far the worst experience that we have ever had. Clearly I would never recommend Smarthome Solutions for any project. In spite of the owner Pat
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
's personal commitment PRIOR to signing a contract for a 2 day job that was supposed to be done 8 months ago, I am still waiting for completion and find that incompetence pervades this terrible organization. Please steer clear of this disaster!
After spending 8 hours outlining my expectations and outlining all of my needs, I received an estimate that had only about 60% of what we had discussed addressed. I should have stopped there. I worked with
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the original project manager, and involved Pat
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
due to the large miss. Pat told me that he would get personally involved and ensure that I had a great experience and that he would stake the claim of his company on getting me a good experience. Pat and I had several conversations and emails going over the entire estimate and he assured me that I would be satisfied.
After pointing out several issues with the estimate and going through about 4 iterations and another 4 hours going back over what I had already explained, we finally agreed to a contract and agreed to work, with an estimated time of 2 days for a $30,000 project, to be completed the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I should have known that this would never work.
After signing the contact and providing a check for 1/2 of the work, I heard nothing from Smarthome. On the evening of Monday before Thanksgiving, the day before the job was to start, I called and texted
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
and got no response. I then called Pat and he informed me that
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
was no longer with the company and that he was unaware that we were supposed to start the next day. He told me that he would scramble to get a crew out to work on the house but couldn't promise that it would happen.
They did get half of a crew out the next day, but they could do very little as they had no electrictian which was critical as this was a contract to change all of the smart switches in my home. The new project manager,
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
, was cantankerous from the start, telling me that this was a much bigger job that was under-bid and that there was no way that it would be done by Thanksgiving. He was negative and demeaning from the start
.
Clearly the job was not done by Thanksgiving and is still not done. In fact, we had lights coming on in the middle of the night throughout the Holiday weekend when all the kids were home. A major mess.

Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
came back the next week and was angrily working on the system. My wife was home sick, and
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
was yelling throughout the house, coming into our bedroom without knocking, and calling his co-workers and people who he was calling on the phone "f***
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
a**holes." We informed Pat of this and Pat told them that
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
was one of his best installers but that he would pull him off of the job. On to project Manager #3.
Throughout the process, we had Geoff
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
"supervising" the job which basically meant that he would stop by and laugh with the guys about once a week and to send me change orders, which were always incorrect. Geoff was impossible to get in touch with, rarely answering his mobile and almost never returning a text. He seemed to have, in his words, perpetual "phone issues." Geoff would respond to email after a few days, but I would have to send him multiple emails on the same topic (I generally just copied the original email and sent it to him 2 or 3 times in response to his question).
As the project devolved, I was asked to take an entire Saturday AGAIN walking through all of the changes that needed to be made, another 8 hours of my time. The program was then ran, and was totally wrong. I asked and received the program and made the changes myself, actually having to activate several devices which Smarthome had failed to activate. It took me about 10 hours to program it to where I wanted it. Subsequently, Smarthome came in and programmed over my changes, taking it backwards, and I fortunately was able to load a backup copy that I kept because I expected their incompetence.
Before I signed the original contract, it had extensive review by Smarthome and many discussions with both
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
and Pat. In spite of this fact, over 80% of the switches (over 100 switches!) had to be replaced.
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
had actually ordered bright orange switches. And, in spite of sharing with them that I was converting all lights to
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
, over 1/2 of the switches that they installed didn't work with
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
lights even though
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
assured me that they would. Pat questioned me on several occasions if I had communicated this to
Saint Paul Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and actually sent me a $7,000 additional bill to cover the mistakes that his company made in not ordering the correct switches
.
Throughout the process, I called, e-mailed and texted both Pat and Geoff constantly asking for additional focus and better resources, and they just couldn't deliver. I have spent over 70 hours of my own time describing, clarifying, correcting their install mistakes, programming and finally actually doing some of the installs myself. I would never do business with this company again, would never recommend them, and have no confidence that they will stand behind the product that they installed. In fact, I contacted Pat directly for a switch that has already malfunctioned, and he has been non-communicative.
