Fencing Reviews in Saint Paul

Wonderful! They were so very nice, responsive to what I needed, and also worked with me to price match a competitor's quote. After I had a survey done I had a lot more lawn then I knew and I thought "There goes the price!" But they charged me the exact same per square footage as what had been agreed upon before. I had issues with my neighbors because they had put their irrigation systems on my side and they had to cap the heads and move the water lines and
waited patiently until I was ready then came out and did the work super fast despite days and days of rain! The fence looks great despite a wooded portion with some very uneven ground and my neighbors have even stopped grumbling. Love these guys!

was highly professional, punctual and completed the job in the time they said it would take.
does quality work and I've got a beautiful fence to show it. Because this was approximately two years ago, I can recall what I spent but I recall it was reasonable. I would definitely hire them again.

Fencing reviews in Saint Paul

Their estimate was about the same as all the other guys in the area, but we had friends who had used Landmark and highly recommended them. They did a great job and gave us good advice on the style of fence and how to maintain it. We would definitely use them again.

his was one of my worst experience using a contractor.
The project was supposed to begin on August 20th, but was delayed until the week of the 27th. The final issue, a latch that was installed upside down, was not resolved until October 21
This is the list of everything that went poorly with

1. One section was installed over a garden, due to the property line adjusting slightly due to a plat survey that was completed prior to the install. This section was installed over decorative stone work in the garden instead of following the slope of the land. This put it at 8.5" high on one side and 4" high on the other. When I pointed this out I met resistance but ultimately they agreed to rebuild that section.

originally recommended that the front gate post be attached to the house instead of set in concrete in the ground. Actually, it was to be a cedar 2x4. I let them know that I had had issues in the past getting things to attach to the brick house but hey said they were not concerned. Ultimately they had problems also using the standard concrete screws and had to go to a concrete anchor. They didn't set the bolts for the anchor inside of the 2x4 so there were basically steel bolts sticking out of the side of the post. Not only was this less than ascetically pleasing, it was dangerous for anyone walking through the gate. I discussed the options with the crew and they recommended setting a post. I was fine with this since it was what I thought they were going to do in the first place. When they came out to set the post however, they ended up not putting it in cement. In addition it is shorter than the post across from it. Also, instead of building a new gate, they cut down the one that was in the previously larger opening when it was a 2x4 instead of a post. This would be okay potentially, if they did a good job of it, but the newly cut down gate has bite

from where the circular saw was twisted during the cut. When I pointed this out, they agreed to build another gate.
3. A board on the back of the fence is bowed out (warped) outwards. This had to be obvious to the installer. I pointed this out and they agreed to replace it.
4. A board on the back of the fence is dry rotted and has holes in it. This had to be obvious to the installer. I pointed this out and they agreed to replace it.
5. An entire section of fence that was attached at an angle was mounted incorrectly. Basically they mounted the long part to the outside of the angle resulting in an overhang. I pointed this out and they corrected the problem.
6. All of the post caps were loose. They had tried to attach them using adhesive caulk, but the calk didn't make contact with the post so they were basically just sitting on top. When I pointed this out they corrected the problem by nailing them in.
7. A gate latch was mounted upside down.
8. Two boards warped in the rain after the job was complete leaving me to wonder at the materials used on the project.

rarely came when they said they would. In general, when a day and time was agreed upon, I ended up waiting for them and have to follow up to find out what the delay was. Sometimes they still made it that day, sometimes they rescheduled for another day.
I hesitated to write this review last year because I wanted to make sure I made it through the winter without any more issues with more boards warping. So far so good. In the end the fence does look great but it was not an easy road to get there.

have showed a willingness to work on each issue which is nice. At the same time I should be able to hire them and not have to be their foreman. Nearly every issue was a self-inflicted wound that all could have been avoided.
Communication, punctuality and quality control are seriously lacking at

In late April, estimate done by
Saint Paul Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
S. was best of the 4 we received by $600. We were told we would be notified by May 17th to schedule the install and were actually called on May 12th for May 13th.
Posts were installed in 3 hours on May 13th. Crew returned on May 16th at 8AM to complete the fencing. Fence was completely done and crew gone by 12 noon. All post-hole dirt was put exactly where requested. Crew cleaned up after themselves.
Job was completed to our satisfaction. We have recommended this company to neighbors who are hiring Town & Country Fence.

Unfortunately, we didn't hear back from him with an estimate. I knew communications were an issue per the previous reviews. But, we gave him a few months with a couple nudges from me via e-mail and one phone call. With each contact from me, he said he would contact me soon. We finally decided we needed the job done before the Spring was over and just signed with another contractor. Very sad... I wish we had all the time in the world to wait for

We had wanted to add a patio gate for years, after buying a house with a fully enclosed patio. I had had difficulty finding a contractor willing to do a small project, but Mr.
Saint Paul Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
promptly responded to my email contact and said that he could do it. He and his colleague were punctual when they arrived to do the work and did the work in a fairly short period of time. The new gate looks as if it's always been there and we now have access to our back yard from the patio - no more climbing over the railing. They did a great job and we would hire them again for any fence or gate needs.

We played phone tag with
Saint Paul Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
for over 3 weeks trying to get an estimate set up and told them on numerous occasions that Monday's would work. Finally Monday 3/31 at 12PM was scheduled. We received a voicemail at 10AM cancelling our appointment because of inclement weather and thunderstorms it was not good conditions to provide an estimate. We could call them back if we wanted to reschedule. It was in fact sprinkiling at 10AM and by the actual appointment time of 12PM had stopped raining and was sunny out.
This tells me that they would in fact cancel the actual fence install if it's raining as well then. I will not be contacting this provider for a reschedule after already playing phone tag and having to take a day off of work for them to cancel. Good luck to anyone who uses them.

When meeting with the sales person, no matter how detailed they may seem - get everything you want in writing. From caps, to style and whether it is to be contoured with the landscape or stepped ( huge difference in the look ). Discuss gate construction and the closing mechanisms in detail. Be specific about design and security/latching. When posts are being set, inspect both the qaulity of posts and the amount of concrete being used to anchor those posts. There are exact amounts available online, and you should know this in regards to your soil integrity. These are the bones of your fence. Make sure the posts are allowed to cure for at least 3 days before the fence is built. This will avoid heaving issues and give the fence the best foundation. Be home when your fence is being installed, and meet with the foreman or lead fence builder BEFORE any work is done to review EXACTLY what you are paying to have installed. Go over caps, gates, whether it will be stepped or contoured. Be aware that anyone on your property working, you are potentially liable for injuries. Make sure that workers donot bring family members or friends to the job site. If there are errors with the construction, material quality or the asthetic of the fence, make sure you email ( document ) and call the office immediately. Our situation with
Saint Paul Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
began with not enough details in the contract and we were "assumed" to have a design that contoured not stepped. Which when you have a deck or other level surfaces in the City looks really bad. Then owner,
Saint Paul Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
, tried to talk us into the design despite us insisting it isn't what we wanted. We had many exchanges about all of the above details which we wanted to share with future customers of
Saint Paul Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
. Mostly, do not be talked into what you do not want, and monitor the work carefully. During our court appearance, another thing popped up that we feel we need to mention. Alot of what we are sharing here is supported in other reviews on Angie's List about

There are too many very qualified fence builders in the Twin Cities area, so shop around. Landmark should have made it easy for us during a very stressful time, but instead they were the only contractor during our large
Saint Paul Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
that wouldn't be the professionals they proclaim to be. During a time when a neighbor lost her husband and dog, we wanted to install a privacy fence to help her out. Landmark fell short and in fact, couldn't understand why we needed to take care of our neighbor so quickly. She is 68 and her children bought her a puppy...that is why we cared. To go the extra mile, in a neighborhood, makes a community strong. Landmark let us all down...and the neighbors took notice. Good luck & do not accept less than what you ordered!
