16 hours to vacate our apartment. They went with us room by room and helped us sort, pack, and move 6 rooms and 2 baths. It was a remarkable job that I thought was impossible to get us moved before December 1st or we had to pay over $900.00 in December rent. Our complex would not pro-rate at all to help us move into our new home.
Despite my specific instruction to place the two (2) cabinet pieces side-by-side on the floor, the movers performed the more difficult maneuver of replacing the extremely heavy hutch back atop the base, in attempt to hide the damage which was caused to the top of the base cabinet in the process of lifting the hutch off of it. Because the damage was obscured, it wasn't discovered until after the 10-day reporting period and no damage report was completed.
When the damage was revealed, I completed a customer service comment card survey indicating displeasure with this outcome. I obtained two (2) estimates for cabinet repair: a) $650 from Custom Furniture Works & b) $1024.44 from
The company then stated that there was no proof that they caused the damage, which is tantamount to an accusation of deliberate deception. I am a reasonable consumer with no desire or inclination to attempt to extort monies in order to restore my property to its previous condition. Absolute proof of liability is impossible because it is impossible to have multiple video cameras trained on every square inch of an item before, during and after the move. The final communication I received (late Sept. 2013) was notification that the cost of the move ($225) would be refunded and no further action would be taken to rectify the problem. The company was informed that this "resolution" was unsatisfactory, and offered further opportunity to respond in a more professional, customer-friendly manner. They did not respond. If prospective customers don't want to be victimized by an irresponsible service provider, I STRONGLY advise them NOT to use
