The exterior was a big, bald construction site and we wanted to get back some of the Missouri landscape beauty it had before the build. We talked with several landscaping firms but

Every aspect of the finished project is spectacular: it's beautiful, integrated and just feels like it all belongs there (nothing is forced, over-the-top, or cooky). The trees and plantings are absolutley perfect with our lot and surroundings, with our house and with the other landscape elements (boulder wall, out-croppings, stone stairs, etc.). The stone

picked for our stairs and the boulder wall is gorgeous -- not solely one color (as is seen so often), but many different colors (greys, caramels, tans, etc) that pick up the colors of nature. He softened the look of the boulder with beautiful plantings in front of it and others on top that cascade down. The sculpted, curved stone stairs down to the lake are gorgeous.

's team are true experts, fitting these large stones together like an intricate puzzle. His team also designed and built a lovely paver patio underneath one of our decks. People come down the deck stairs and it literally takes their breath away. It's gorgeous. The firepit is so awesome and the perfect spot for roasting marshmallows (which we do almost every weekend). 's irrigation division for our sprinkler system. The lead person in irrigation is

, he was so genuinely interested and engaged with our project, very knowledgeable, and a very friendly, enjoyable person to deal with. The irrigation system was planned and laid in the same orderly, well-conceived and expert fashion. It was both reassuring and convenient having the same company that had done all the landscaping also do the irrigation. We knew they'd know exactly how to care for all the lovely landscape that had just been planted. I grew up hearing my parents rave about

Actual construction was delayed by the unusual amount of rain in October so the timing was a little longer than anyone anticipated, but through no fault of Stone Mill. The owner was nice enough to meet us at the stone distributor on Sunday so that we could pick out the specific stone we wanted. He also was happy to explain to me in detail exactly how he would be doing the work and assure me that the stones would not move over the years since we didn't want to ever have to redo the work. The crew was extremely nice and finished the work very quickly. They cleaned up after each day and didn't leave a bit of scrap materials or trash. The first part of the project took approximately a week and a half. The second part of the project, a 4 foot tie wall, took one day with three guys working on it. We were in a real rush to get the first project finished by the date of a large party that we were hosting.

, the owner, asked his men to work on the weekend to help us get the most critical part of the project done by the party. He accomplished this and the first part of the project was done by the date of our party. During the project I asked the crew to make few small changes which they were glad to make. The end result looks wonderful, even better than expected. There were absolutely no surprises, the workmanship was outstanding and they were just really nice people to work with. I plan on using them again on the front of my house."
