"It’s been great and I really enjoyed them. I stopped going essentially because I am busy and I have every intention to continue to use their service when money" and time allow. I haven’t used any acupuncture service since then. I was seeing for ongoing issues and didn’t have time to follow up.

-Chase H.

"Outstanding. Been there twice and have more appointments scheduled. Accommodating as far as appointments go. Atmosphere in the clinic is outstanding - warm, plushy" waiting room, soft music, more individual treatment rooms than you would first think. Afua is amazing. Kind and understated, asked all the required medical questions, did nothing without telling me first. Has a very gentle way about her and, when she was working my leg and very stiff back - magic hands! Needles did not hurt at all and only minimally in the really sore spots. More affordable than I was expecting and got every penny's worth. I could go there every week even if something wasn't wrong - feel relaxed as a rag when I'm finished. I work in a very stressful environment and this hour is pure heaven.

If the naturopath also has the MD credential then every plan will cover them. They choose to take insurance or not, all providers have to sign up with insurance plans for reimbursement. Unfortunately if they are a Doctor of Naturopathy, without other medical credentials you will have a difficult time finding coverage. An MD typically goes through 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of Medical school, 3 years of residency and then potentially 2 - 4 years of specialty training on top of that. Not many Naturopaths go through that type of education. MDs also have to work on cadavers, some other health care practitioners do this as well, but not many. Naturopaths offer valuable services. If you have a Naturopath MD in mind, then it is simple because they will have registered with insurance companies to accept payments. They will know what plans they accept payment from. As a pharmacist one of my classmates in addition to a doctorate in pharmacy also had a doctorate in that area. As a pharmacist we are also not covered by most insurance plans to have a "practice" reimbursement. We work on a fee-for-service basis or contract with specific plans or employers to offer their people our services. We work with individuals and provide their providers the information about our consults.

Some naturopaths, dieticians, pharmacists, chiropractors, and acupuncturists work within a physician practice - this is sometimes referred to as an integrated or integrative model. The fee for a naturopath is most often "fee for service."   I hope this helps, best of luck finding the practitioner you are seeking.

Acupuncture Treatment reviews in Saint Louis

I was a convert after the first visit! Afua's treatments helped immensely and I eventually gained the courage to start exercising again.

Obviously, everyone's issues and responses are unique but I felt better immediately. At FIRST I had more short term relief so I went more frequently and tapered down. She would also give me ...More pressure point buttons (not sure of name) that helped tide me over until my next visit.

Unlike my experiences with chiropractic care, the acupuncture treatments didn't drag on and on without me seeing results.

I've continued going back to Afua whenever I can (and for things other than my back) and have referred at least 2 people to her.

For a couple my issues acupuncture didn't seem to help, but it was especially beneficial for my initial concern. BUT you can't go and expect a treatment to solve everything. For my back issues (as an example) I knew I had to start exercising again. So you still have to be an active participant in your recovery.

As far as I'm concerned, Afua walks on water!

Last year, I lost my sense of smell. After many tests and visits to a specialist, I was told that I had nerve damage in my nose and that there was nothing that could be done - either my body would heal itself or it wouldn't. I wasn't about to take no for an answer, and began seeking alternative solutions to my problem. I was referred ...More to Dr. by a friend. His office first sent me paperwork in the mail to be completed before the appointment, to give the doctor ample time to read over my situation. When I arrived, I was sent back to the treatment room, which was very clean and organized. Dr. went through a very detailed and thorough consultation with me - and even asked some personal questions that didn't seem to relate at all to my disorder, but I figured why not, so I answered them. He then performed some spinal manipulation on me, and acupuncture. A word to the wise: Be prepared for this type of acupuncture! He uses an electrode to "zap" the needle after it's placed on a pressure point. It hurts!! After the acupuncture, Dr. touched my head and face with his hands for a good 20 minutes or so, which was extremely relaxing. At the end of the appointment I was given a tincture in water to drink over the next 4 hours. I left the first appointment skeptical of my treatment. The acupuncture hurt, and the questions were invasive. However, the next day, I smelled coffee for the first time in 10 months! So I came back for more! I have been seeing Dr. consistently now for about 7 months, and over time, my smell is slowly coming back. My "western" specialist was impressed to hear I was still improving, and encouraged me to keep doing what I was doing. Dr. 's techniques and mannerisms may be unorthodox, but he gets results!! Which is really what medicine is all about. Highly recommended!!!
