Seattle Upholsterers Reviews

"We couldn't be happier with the work Angie did for our custom daybed mattress. Professional, friendly, exacting about her work. She passed on great savings to us while doing a beautiful job. "
"One was an old sofa with an excellent frame, and because I am very much concerned about allergies and toxins, I asked for all organic foam, and real latex and organic wool and cotton, and the costs just mounted up. It looks beautiful, but I thought they were horribly expensive."
"The fumes and lack of complete info were enough for me to decide not to work with them, but when I saw the sign about rewarding people for positive reviews, I was disgusted."
"I live nearby and stopped in to meet. Chose my fabric which they ordered. Picked up the chair and did an excellent job. A new england chair with lots of complicated piping which they did very nicely. Took one week and delivered the chair."
"I searched for a place to get foam for some chair cushions I was having made. After reading reviews, I went with
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
. I went in with the old chair covers, but because they were an odd size, the gentleman asked me to bring in the actual foam. Not a huge deal, so I brought it in. I did so on a Saturday, but there was nobody there who could cut the foam. I was told it would be finished on the following Monday, and that I would get a call to confirm. No call. I wasn't in a big hurry, so no big deal. 2 weeks passed. I called again. Was told they'd check, and get back to me. No call. I emailed and called to leave a message. No return call. Called one more time. The foam was not yet cut, and she was going to check and call me. No call. I gave up. They were very nice, but the service was horrible. I'm sure they're better at upholstery than they are at communication, but wow."
" This was a big project for us. I had looked at replacing our existing sofa and loveseat for about five years (endless trips to Crate &

, Pottery Barn) but I just couldn't find anything I liked as well as the existing pieces, which we bought from

when our kids were young and which had been subject to endless wear by kids, cats, sunlight, etc. There were no glitches. I picked out the fabric after perusing many samples; Lanae, the woman who assisted me, was helpful with technical details but didn't try to steer me one way or another. They were picked up on time, and three weeks later they were back. They look fabulous, like a brand new sofa and loveseat. The slipcovers fit tightly and the trim is beautiful. I realize I spent as much on this project as I would have on new furniture, and I certainly wish it had been a bit less spendy. But I just didn't feel like the big box stores offered me enough options, so I decided to benefit from the large fabric selection and "buy local." It worked for us; I think we can count on another fifteen years with these furniture pieces. And I'm happy not to have contributed a sofa and loveseat to the landfill."
"On the 20th of May I went into
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
and met with
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
about my needs, specifically recovering a chair seat. She pulled out one small book of fabrics which I took home. She took my name, address and telephone number for someone to call, probably her because the other person was too busy, to set up an appointment. When I didn't hear from her by the 26th, I called and spoke with her, told her the fabric would not do, and inquired when she or someone was going to come out. She suggested Friday for her to be there at 11:00 A.M. At 11:15 A.M. I called
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
and reported she was not at my house nor had anyone called saying she would be late. I was told she hadn't come in yet and maybe was en route to my house. I was told that as soon as they saw or heard from her or knew something I would receive a call from them. At 12:45, having heard nothing, I called
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
again and this time was told she was out and about. I told them I was leaving for 2 1/2 hours and they said someone would return my call. I still have heard from no one. It's a shame because the person who referred me to the place is an interior designer and I have reported the situation to her as well as to several of my neighbors and professional contacts.
"I got quotes from several places. I chose macs because they were the most knowledgable, asked good questions, explained things well, and had a fair price. They helped me select the best foam. They helped pick a wonderful fabric. The order took a week or so longer than quoted. They came and installed it. It looks and feels great. I would definately use them again."

provided mostly good-quality workmanship, but the overall experience was frustrating and ultimately one we wouldn t like to repeat.
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
, the

saleswoman, was very prompt in coming to the house and looking at the booth and bench. Afterward she gave us a bid over the phone with an overall price for each project that she said included everything (coverings, foam, labor, tax, etc.). We also later made available drawings of the booth and bench that included dimensions.
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
was good about quickly returning calls and answering questions. Phone quotes with overall numbers seemed to be her preferred way to do things. This was very different from the detailed, written bids we got from the other two potential vendors, who we didn t choose for various reasons.
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
did give us an e-mail quote for a final cost on the bench cushions, with a partial level of detail, upon request. Looking back, we would not do this kind of work again without a very detailed bid from the get-go. Interestingly, detailed info on cost came from
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
only when we received the handwritten invoices after the work was completed. This was a problem because
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
wanted to charge us additional money for hanging brackets and for more vinyl and fabric days after fully reviewing the projects and giving us what she said were final cost estimates. The prices seemed to keep changing, which was very frustrating. And a couple of times it seemed
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
was not following the details of the projects (like when we decided together at a meeting to go with box cushions for the bench seat, then she tried to charge us weeks later for extra fabric to cover the cushion bottoms). Two other pieces that changed as well: (1) The billing, with invoices that didn t always reflect the prices discussed, and (2) The time frame for getting the work done.
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
and the business owner at times gave us very different ideas of how busy they were and when our two projects would be completed. As a side note, most of
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
business seemed related to boats and vehicles. Our work was done during the beginning of boating season, not the time of year for the quickest service. Overall, the quality of the actual upholstery work was excellent, and
Seattle Upholsterers Provider Name Locked
did deliver the booth for free. One issue was that grommets were not installed on the lower (seat) bench cushions even though that was in the quoted price. Their installer questioned whether the grommets were needed for cushion breathability and installed vents instead. This change was never discussed with us ahead of time and resulted in two additional trips to their store to get grommets installed.
"We're very pleased with the service. I sent a picture of the sofa to company and she told me how much fabric to buy. Once the fabric arrived, we agreed upon a pickup date. They were happy to work around our vacation dates so that we wouldn't be without a sofa while we were home. The day before we went on vacation they picked up the sofa, and 11 days later when we returned home, they dropped off the sofa. It looks GREAT, the seams and piping are straight, the cushions were rebuilt and are crisp and square. Once they picked up the sofa they told us that it would be best if they rebuilt the cushions from scratch, which was an additional charge of about $150, but we agreed to it because the original cushions were over 7 years old, and were saggy. We could have purchased a new sofa for less than $2k (fabric plus labor), so the price is definitely high, but we loved this particular sofa, and it will last many years with our high quality fabric."
