" To handle the closing of our new home, our real estate agent connected us with . We made it clear that we wanted to hold the property" in joint tenancy with right of survivorship, but on the day of signing we found the agent had written the papers incorrectly. When I explained what we wanted, the agent said, "We don't do that in . That's just California." It was the last day to lock in our mortgage rate, so we went ahead. But the agent had not been honest with us, or at best she was mistaken about something she should have been well informed about. The is recorded as tenants in common. We have to pay expensive attorney fees to have this corrected and while we wait for the correction to complete we are at risk with the largest investment of our lives - because of the negligence of . In addition, they advertised escrow fees of $450 on their website, but charged us $822.

"Went fine. I'd bought tires from them several years before and absolutely no problems. This is in marked contrast to nearby Bay Tires," who sold me a defective tire that went flat that same day (it went out a few blocks from their store, so I pulled in because they were close enough so I could easily walk back home, and Goodyear is a half mile farther), balked at returning it by saying I must have done something, and tried to sell me a $500 brake job that my mechanic of 20 years said I absolutely didn't need. What prompted me to come in was a flat on another tire I'd bought 18 months earlier from Bay Tires. It was still under warranty, had plenty of tread, but to exercise the warranty I'd have to renew it for the new tire and I just didn't want to have anything to do with them. So I went to Goodyear instead and absorbed the loss on the Bay Tire. Goodyear did their job, did it quickly and well , and created no drama. What you should expect. I mentioned Bay Tire and they said that it they'd heard a huge number of complaints and that it was a shame because it gave a bad name to all the other local tire shops. They mentioned a couple of auto repair shops that had switched from as people they'd refer to. I don't think they were making it up, it was just the contrast between one place, Goodyear, that does their job right, and another that's only in it for greed. I've definitely learned my lesson.

I bought my last house and also sold it FSBO.  For me, both ends of the process were simple and relatively hassle free.

I advertised in the paper once a week and had an open house every Sunday for about three weeks.  I also had an FSBO sign in the front yard that I would put balloons on (for attention) when I had the open house.  It sold quickly.

The cost of an attorney to go over the paperwork was MUCH less than the price of a relator.  I bought one of those ready-made packages from the nearest office store, read it over and made a few changes to it.  Then I had the attorney look it over.  I think it saved some money having the attorney just look over the document and make changes rather than having him create the entire thing.

When I decide to move out of my current house, I will definitely go FSBO again.

Yes! Movie tickets, 2 hours at the spa, 10 rides at your local "iFly", etc. Bottom line: You know your clients. Find out what they do to reward/pamper themselves and give them that!

Hope this helps!

Title Company reviews in Seattle

F

Rating
When getting ready to move I found out that the title company is the one that changes the water and sewer bills to the new owner and pays off the balance. Well in my case that never happened. I found out in early Aug when I got the bill and called the title co who said they'd take care of it, about $50 bill. They never did. I next got a notice ...More to turn off my water due to unpaid bills so I hassled them again (waiting on hold 20 min while they tried to figure it out), and then once they finally paid they didn't pay their late fee so I had to take care of that as well. A total and they were not very helpful about it on the phone.
