Plumbing reviews in Seattle

He tried to trouble shoot over the phone; he checked to see if I was having problems with other drains. I was not at the time; however, after he came and worked on the laundry room drain, he checked to make sure I wasn't having sewer problems. It turned out that I was. So another call to another type of plumber. He also cleaned up the overflow!

Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
(the assistant) did a phenomenal job fixing the basement drain pump.
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
was able to come the next day and was on time and highly professional. He quickly and efficiently diagnosed the problem. The fix was messy and difficult.
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
went beyond fixing just the immediate problem and identified a couple of additional items that required repair. His prices seemed reasonable and accurate to the work done. I would immediately hire him again for any future plumbing problems. I took the time to listen to
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
as he was directing and doing the work and was impressed not only with his knowledge, but also with his experience with this type of issue. His assistant,
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
, was also excellent and very courteous and capable.

Conor, the tech, came out to quote on a new clean-out plug for our main-line sewer. He was very prompt and professional. Since this is a major job, we're going to wait before we have the work done.

It went great. The technician saved me time and money as well as imparting knowledge about garbage disposals that I was unaware of. Overall this was an excellent experience and I'd recommend

I had attempted in the past to install on my own with the help of a friend 3 low-flow flushing units. Flip up for more down for less water. They were crap. I didn't want to bother anymore and don't have the time.
These guys were fast on time and did it right. That's really what we needed. The price was ok to i guess. Considering I knew I've needed to do this for a few months and hadn't done it is done. Thanks guys.

The appointment went well.
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
was able to come out shortly after we called him. He accurately diagnosed our clogged sewage tank and was able to clear the clog and quickly get it back into working order.

I needed a plumber who could install a dishwasher. I tried using Home Depot but they wouldn't touch it due to the water source having a CPVC pipe which apparently is brittle so they wouldn't touch it.
I called
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
& HEATING to see if they could / would work on it. I was informed that they a technician would call me back. Never did.

We went back and forth via email for about a week until we found a date that worked for both of us. My plumbing problem was absolutely not urgent, so this was a non-issue. I'm pretty confident that if it were an urgent matter, the response time would have been quicker.
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
called before our agreed window and said he could come early if I was home. He arrived early with his son. Both were friendly and professional (shoe covers and everything). It was a pretty straightforward job, but they made sure everything was cleaned up after and applied sealant to the siding penetration at the

. He explained how the
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
works and how it drains itself out after use so there would be no concerns about the appearance of it "leaking".
While he was there, I asked
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
to give me a rough quote on relocating a sprinkler head. He gave me a ballpark estimate, and then advised that a landscaper or handyman would be able to do it a lot less expensively. I respect that integrity and will keep his card on file for future plumbing projects.

First off, this was the 3rd time that we used
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
in the past year. We went with them based on all the "A" reviews and the effusive praise on Angie's List. In reality, they give opportunistic plumbers a bad name. The problem is that Angie's List is merchant-centric, so negative reviews get buried and reviews get rounded up and there is no easy way to view negative reviews. In the end, the merchants get the "last word" so I'm sure they'll find a way to counter every complaint we have about their, quite frankly, terrible company.
Okay, so we had a blocked kitchen drainage pipe that was bubbling water outside our kitchen and so we called JD. They sent a crew quickly, like within a day or two, which we were pleased with, although they never called 30 minutes before arriving as they said they would. Of course, we find out later that the two guys include an old plumber who likes to chat about nonsense while charging you by the quarter hour and the other guy was a guy whose plumbing experience was 3 months on the job and 5 years working at Lowe's (yes, he told me that twice when I asked him about his background!). The couldn't clear the blockage with an auger so then they accessed the pipe using a scope.
The problem is that there was a break in the pipe outside the house and so it couldn't get resolved that day (which is fine). The guys were incredibly slow, largely due to the young guy's inexperience (sorry, but working at Lowe's doesn't count) and the old guy's lack of mobility, and both of their inability to think and work in an expedient fashion. This odd couple wasted a lot of time going back and forth to the truck for equipment constantly, and was not helped by the big young guy's difficulty moving around due to his
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
and the older guys inability to almost move at all after having had knee replacement surgery recently (yes, he told me a lot about that).
Anyway, I was not a happy camper after getting a $500+ bill for what amounted to a very small amount of work by a very low quality crew. They called the estimator and he eventually came out and tried to placate the irate customer (me) by offering a modest discount (still paid almost $500 total including tax) which we accepted. Our mistake was that we agreed to proceed on with trying to get the drainage pipe repaired.
So, the next step involved getting another crew to do hydrojetting and excavating the pipe outside the house to replace a presumed break (from the scope). The crew came several hours later than scheduled (and only after I called to ask where they were). They were not able to clear the blockage with the
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
due to another break being found downstream from the other blockage. So the estimator guy came out the next day or so and told me that basically we would need to rip up some trees on the property line between us and our neighbors in order to access and repair the broken pipe beneath. This would involve tearing up concrete as well, which was on the neighbor's property.
I contacted the neighbor and obviously they were not too
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
about that, and so we got about 3 more estimates from other plumbing companies (that we found on
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
). All three of them suggested that we reroute the kitchen pipe through our crawlspace and connect it to a different drainage pipe, thereby avoiding any excavating of the property between the two houses. We went with one company that bid only $1000 for the work to be done and so we went with them since the estimator at JD had not returned my email/text in 2 days and I could not wait any longer. Anyway, the work was done by this different company and it works great.
What disturbs me most about
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
is that they seem like a classic contractor that is ready to make you do more and more work, for more and more money, than was necessary. It disturbs me that three other companies easily saw an alternative solution that involved no exterior excavating that would have been very costly (since the neighbor wanted us to naturally repair the concrete that would be broken up and replant the trees that would have to be removed), but which the estimator at
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
either had no sense or experience to determine was a possibility.
In the end, we paid
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
over $2500 for a bunch of guys to try an auger for less than an hour, a scope for less than an hour, and a hydrojetter for less than 2 hours. They sent a guy with 3 months experience whose main work experience was working at Lowes and an old guy who was unable to actually do any work himself, and who the estimator acknowledged was sent to train the inexperienced guy. And then they charge by the quarter hour for several hours of slow, plodding work by a novice and an old guy who likes to endlessly chatter. Then they suggest a terrible plan (excavating outside between our properties) that we luckily avoided after talking with other plumbing companies, who ended up fixing our problem for a very good price. And most of all, we ended up with no actual repair done, just a very expensive bill from
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
As I said initially, the merchants always have the last word so I'm sure they will contradict or rationalize/make excuses for the shoddy and frankly sketchy work that they did at our house, and this review will get buried soon enough, but I just hope that at least one person reads this and chooses another company (or really, just gets numerous estimates before choosing a plumber). And in real life, I tell all of my neighbors to avoid
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
if you want quality work done and you don't enjoy getting fleeced for substandard and unprofessional work. In any case, we sure won't make a mistake like this again...

The worker was pleasent and appeared very capable. Since I paid for 6 hours of work I listed the importance of the items at the start, 1, 2, 3 and if time. He did #1 last - the plywood
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
doors. He gave me a list of material and I purchased them. Hinges were needed and were on the list but not bolts/screws to install them - I did not think to purchase them.
When finished one of the plywood doors was bowed out about 2 inches on the lower hanging corner and the gap between the doors was considerably larger than the old doors. The bowing could have been avoided if he examined the 4x8 sheet of heavy plywood and cut from the best area or simply turned the board so the bow was attached to the hinged area. Also, he used screws, which I found out later were the wrong application, The screws he used stuck out 3 inches on the inside of the shed (12 total). He suggested a fix of building framework into the door. This would have made the doors much heavier. Since he did the #1 item last I would have had to pay to have him stay to make the changes/corrections.
He replaced rotten ends along the trim at ground level around the garage door. He did not close the garage door and check for clearence and neigher did I since I was going to paint after he left. I found later that the metal flashing does not clear the new wood on one side of the door so now it does not close evenly. This could have been fixed by sanding it down about 1/4 inch.
I am glad I had the work done but am disapointed in the lack of a professional job. I was given a bill of $21.00 for the extra time and emailed that I would not be paying due to the work I have ahead of me to grind off the long screws and sand the boards down so the garage door closes evenly. I received no response.
When speaking to
Seattle Plumbers Provider Name Locked
on the phone and explaining the issues and what my husband said were the fixes or ways the door issue could have been avoid he said "if your husband was capable of doing the job why didn't he do it himself". Not that it matters but he was working out of town and I wanted to surprise him by triming down his to do list.
