Masonry Reviews in Seattle

My husband and I contracted with a fence company and we needed some brick columns. We were referred to
. We needed some masonry work done and it came out excellent! We were very happy to have been referred to them and here's why:
I'm a stay-at-home-mom (
), barely 5 feet tall and have a big baby attached to me. Some contractors come in and try to bully me, talk over me and have actually ignored some of my questions. And this is during the interview! What most contractors don't know is that I make the decisions on designs for our home regarding hiring and firing of contractors because Guess what? I'm the one they have to work with.
Thankfully, not all contractors are created equal.
company had me meet with
. The interview went really well. He was very respectful and attentive. They were flexible on work and price. So, they were hired.
came out to work on the job. He set my mind at ease with the rainy weather (oh, Seattle!) and the setting of the mortar.
and Robing talked me through information and were patient while I asked and asked again. Additionally, one of the columns was set too far off for my liking. I expressed this and
's response was "No problem. We'll figure it out and fix it." No Whining. No Complaining. No BS. Sigh! What a breath of fresh air! So, more than likely due to this and it being a holiday weekend, it took a little longer than expected. But hey, I'd rather have a contractor who doesn't b****, does good work and treats me well than one that's in and out and doesn't clean up after themselves and treats me like he's doing me a favor for even showing up. Oh yeah, I speak from experience.
Additionally, the clean-up deserves and honorable mention. Some contractors don't clean up after themselves. These do. It was nice to see. They even respected my wild flowers and took care not to trample them while they were here working. It was quite nice to note. I assure you.
While treating your customers like this is common sense, common sense is not so common among contractors. Thankfully Structural Solns has plenty. This is why I have to give Structural Solns. the highest rating, a good reference and any work that my friends or I may need in the future. Thanks for a good job guys. don't change.

came unannounced to setup scaffolding on the west side of the house when I had not returned from out of town yet and it was my understanding the setup was to take place on Monday after my return. I let this lack of good communication slide but had to move my garbage, yard waste and recycling bins off my neighbors property where they were inappropriately placed. My fence was not covered nor was my
protected at all which took quite a beating from the scaffolding but again I was patient and let it go. However, to this day, I still cannot get the ground out mortar off my cedar fence no matter what I do. When the west side appeared to be done, I examined it where I could see the work and pointed out some concerns to
to fix. Only one of those concerns was addressed. All others were left undone so I figured I might try and repair the areas
failed to properly fix. Additionally, the estimate was to include muratic acid wash of all restored masonry. But again, half of the west side appeared not to have been washed so I went to Home Depot and purchased muratic acid to do the work myself where I could safely reach it from my ladder.
Even though at the time I thought
did a "fair" job on the west side, I permitted it to do the work on 3/4 of my south side of the house where
knew how important doing this work was for me personally and for showing before and after work to other homeowners to show that by maintaining your home you increase your investment in your property. But again,
failed me. I monitored the work, asked a few questions and even before the work began I talked over details again and again to make sure everyone was on the same page for the work. But sadly, after the work was completed, I noticed quite a few concerns that were immediately called to the attention of the owner and with photographs. All
did was to quickly come by, again unannounced, to do a quick muratic acid wash of a small section of the so call restored work. Because of the attitude of the owner and being told he stood behind his work 100%, he failed to even listen to my concerns or respond to or acknowledge any of them. The work is definitely inferior qualify work and not consistent in application. There are holes and gaps in the work when none should exist. There are a couple of areas where no work took place at all. Due to this "don't give a crap" attitude from the owner and not scheduling any time to come by and discuss my concerns and how they might be addressed, I asked the owner, by email, to give me the brand name of the mortar used on the home so if I made repairs myself or had someone else come to complete the work he failed to do, the mortar would be the same. But all he told me was that he used Type "S" lime-base mortar mix which I already knew since it was set out in his estimate. I just wanted the brand name - a very
question and request - but to this date he has failed to provide me with this information or even cared to follow up on my concerns to see exactly what was going on. He just does not care. There are also a few sections of this work on the south side that I need to use muratic acid on as well.
So why did I hire
point two (2) sides of my home? I did my home work and the only thing on Angie's List was responsiveness to customers was lacking. And trust me I have personal knowledge of this but other than that, I did not have a clue that the work would be inferior and of poor quality. I have included photos of
's inferior work on my home. These are only photos of where I could actually see the work so I am sure I am missing a lot of problems and since Angie's List limits to only 10 photos, I tried to select the ones where poor workmanship and poor quality of work are best seen and I hope my photos turn out OK for others to see.
was to waterproof both these sides but the product it was going to use states that if there are any holes/openings in the mortar where water can get in, and there are plenty of these openings, then waterproofing will be of no value so this will not be completed until the work is done correctly as it should have been done in the first place.
I definitely cannot recommend
to other homeowners requiring mason work, that is, unless one does not care about the quality of work or professionalism or customer service that a provider "should" have with a homeowner. A provider should accommodate a customer regardless of what concerns or issues are or are not raised and work with the homeowner to get things resolved to everyone's satisfaction. A provider should not just ignore the problem as
has done with me.
will have to take responsibility if I have to have some of this mason work done by it repaired by genuine masons who actually care about quality and have pride of workmanship and who definitely puts the customer first no matter what.
needs to take responsibility for its poor workmanship in doing this job since after all I was told the owner stands behind its work 100% - but that statement ends up really meaning absolutely nothing. So just take caution in having
do work on your home. Sadly,
not only totally failed me in quality of work but elected to ignore any of my concerns altogether.

s not.I had a big old, original brick fireplace that was built with the house in 1955. the mortar was crumbling and much of the flue was falling apart. I had just replaced the fence which made the fireplace look even worse, the Brick Dr came in gave me an estimate and was able to start in a couple days. The fire box was in good shape, but surrounding brick structure was not. They replaced all the crumbling mortar, rebuilt the chimney, added a new chimney cap, and the fireplace look like new!
I was very pleased with the service, price and result.
I would happily recommend them and use them again!

We tore out the existing fireplace and installed a gas insert, new hearth and fireplace face and a new mantle. Each piece was being completed by a different party.

Purchased the deal for 4 hours of service for $199. Service was completed and quality was fine. However, rather than scheduling in advance, they phoned me out of the blue and asked if they could arrive in 90 minutes that afternoon to perform the service. I was also asked if I'd be willing to pay up to another $200 if the work went over 4 hours. When I requested a refund instead, service was scheduled and completed for the original price of $199.

He did a great job. Came to the house when I wasn't there and did the work. I was a little worried that it was slightly too much work to get done in 4 hours and that it would end up half-done. But he did all of it and the chimney looks great now. Replaced a few of the bricks, put a new concrete cap on, and put a new surface on all the grouting and cleaned the moss off. Couldn't ask for more. At $200, extremely satisfied.

I got a big deal from Angie's List and used it to have my furnace and fireplace chimneys repaired after an inspection on my house said that was necessary.

was easy to work with, came over and looked at the chimneys and gave a bid for the basic work and an additional bid if the work to realign some bricks which were jutting out (and had been doing so for over 40 years) necessitated the rebuilding of the chimney stack. Fortunately this was not required. They did the work and cleaned up afterword.

They were very knowledgeable and gave me helpful advice about maintenance that we can do ourselves. For applying sealant, a water base latex applied with a backpack garden sprayer was recommended. They were scrupulously careful about my plants and watering lines. They used hose guards to protect the flower beds. The finished work looks very good, and they did a thorough job of cleaning up.

Their prices are competitive. I saved $400 with a Big Deal.

came out and gave us an estimate in August. We were impressed with the thoroughness and the questions that he asked to make sure that he understood the job that we wanted done.
It took a while to get all of the permits in place, but
Seattle Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
worked well with both the fireplace retailer (we installed a gas fireplace), and the team from puget sound energy. Those installations pushed the masonry work back until January, but
Seattle Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
worked well with the timelines, and guiding us through the process.
His team came in and tapped off that part of the room, protecting the floor and rest of the room. The fireplace and planter turned out beautifully. We couldn't be happier with our choice to go with
