"The installer was on time, but didn't seem to really know what he was doing. It took him close to 3 hours to connect the system, and he spent a lot of time on the phone with various people asking them how to do things--did not inspire confidence that he was actually doing it right. He left without ever clearly demonstrating to me that the system was operational."

" came out to do our estimate; he walked through the entire house and a map of all of the outlets, switches, and fixtures. When his quote came in, it was considerably lower than the other quote we got. was also very responsive as we went back and forth fine-tuning the bid (for example, we added a hard-wired smoke detector system, which had not previously been discussed). We demolished the ceiling in the basement ourselves to allow access (which saved us some money), and was nice enough to make an extra trip to the house to make sure we were doing enough, and in the right places. When the job started, arrived promptly at 8:00, and worked on the house for 5 days. We were not living in the house at the time, so I cannot comment on how well he kept out of our way. Our plaster walls were very minimally damaged most of the wires were fished and only very tiny holes drilled. There are some holes to be patched, mostly around switches and outlets, but it is not terrible, by any means. After the job was over, there were a number of small issues we had to follow up on a dimmer switch had been forgotten, the washer and dryer had been put back in the wrong order, the doorbell was disconnected and we were very impressed that followed through on every one of them, and didn't wash their hands of us once the job was done and they were paid. They sent guys back to our house three times the last time nearly four weeks after the job was done to fix things, and were courteous and very professional throughout. I think something always goes wrong with any job this size, and we were amazed that stuck with us and fixed it all, given that most of the things were relatively minor. We are very happy with the job they did, and with their customer service, and would absolutely recommend them to anyone."

"They came to the house the following day to set up the system for monitoring. Despite the phone interface being poorly wired (internet phone), they were able to get the alarm hooked into the new phone system (I am told the phone company and Comcast use opposite wiring configurations). I was shown how to use the alarm and they replaced batteries in the pre-existing sensors as needed. We discussed additional sensors and monitoring and set up a visit for the following day. There was no additional charge for the visit/service aside from the monthly monitoring fee. PSA returned the following day (as scheduled) to add additional sensors (one motion, one additional smoke/heat sensor, and a new panel to accommodate the additional wireless channels needed for a wireless keyfob (they gave us credit for the existing panel they replaced). I questioned the lousy location of the pre-existing alarm box (in the garage) which ADT seems to prefer for ease of access vs. security. (As mentioned in previous reviews, they refrained from pointing out the poor security practice of their competitors despite my egging them on) They discussed the options for moving/rewiring the box to a more secure, interior location. We decided to schedule this project for a later date, so without being asked they placed an additional sensor on the alarm control box that would trip if it was tampered with (no additional charge). Very pleasant, very professional, very punctual and the only charges we received were for additional alarm hardware and the monitoring service. They answered questions directly and did not look to push additional options/monitoring that our property didn't require. we've been using them for several months now and we are still VERY pleased. When we get a low-battery alert, PSA rings the house (at an appropriate time of day) to make sure that we know which battery to change. If I open/tamper with a sensor (e.g. to replace a battery) I can expect a phone call within the minute to be verify that it was indeed an authorized person with the sensor. They are always polite, courteous and professional on the phone as well. The personal touch of the local monitoring center is very welcome. "

"The experience was fantastic, they were great. They were punctual, polite, professional and knew what they were doing. They cleaned up really well and were cooperative and helpful."

"I have been with Protection One for over 6 years. Due to the fact that some dissed vendors have sued Angie's List members, I regret I'm unable to leave details here publicly. Suffice it to say that, from my experience, I do not recommend Protection One to anyone looking for a company that really cares about their customers."

"I had been thinking about remodeling the kitchen for some time - the existing kitchen had good flow but the appliances and fixtures were seriously outdated. In addition, the kitchen was very dark (there was only one small window, and it had been painted shut long ago) and there was only one central ceiling light. I wanted all the bells and whistles but I also wanted the new kitchen to maintain the original character of my 100-year-old house. I worked with to design a fresh space with a ton of character. The new space features a lot of open cabinetry (but we still added plenty of closed cabinets with gadgets), granite counter tops, and more energy efficient, stainless steel appliances, including a new dishwasher - the first this house has ever seen. We worked in the same footprint as the old kitchen - but we did move a doorway slightly to give more room to a new, peninsula workspace topped with a thick slab of reclaimed wood. The whole remodel took about 2 months to complete."

"I called on the 6th and we talked about my existing system and what my options would be to replace it. He knew exactly which system would be compatible with the one I already had and at the end of our call asked me if I wanted a copy of our conversation with a quote. After the call, I felt this was a guy knew what he was talking about. After searching several other places, and getting a review of the system, I called to get on their calendar, since he said it would probably be two weeks. He called me back and asked if the 7th would work for me. They came out exactly when they said they would and with three of them it only took 2 hours. We had recently called another alarm specialist to find out what was wrong with one of motion detectors and paid $150 for the service call only to told he couldn't find the problem. 's company knew immediately what it was and replaced it. They also cleaned up when they were done! I highly recommend them!"

"The salesmen came to our house to demo the product and set up a system appropriate for our home and needs. The salesmen also quoted us the price for product, installs, and annual fee for service. We called to have the system installed and the installer was out the next day. The install took a little longer than expected but the gentlemen was friendly and efficient. The alarm did not work after the installation and the installer returned the next day to fix and finish. The system now works as it should."
