Automating reviews in Seattle

Awesome. These guys are some of the best vendors I've ever worked with. They know their stuff, do high quality work, and make it painless. And they are efficient, I think they did it as fast as it could have been done and even came in under estimate. Top notch.

I cannot say enough about this company. I discovered them on Angie's List and called them on a Monday or even Tuesday for a "Quatro de

" party on Sunday. They were always prompt, friendly and professional. They encouraged questions (weren't condescending in any way) and made excellent recommendations (e.g. size of flat screen TV, built-in locations, style of tower speakers, etc. They came back twice and got the job done in record time for my party (which was very successful).

I met
Seattle Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
at the Seattle Home Show. This was the first competent-feeling company I had found that was willing to do low-voltage wiring in an existing finished condo. As I talked with
Seattle Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
, I realized home many of my problems I could solve with these guys, and I added more and more to the tasks.

and his associates,

, were smart, courteous, neat, prompt, and provided good communications and recommendations. Scheduling for me was very flexible and, to get on the calendar sooner. I was willing to be a "fill-in" job for them during quiet weeks. I do realize this means my experience schedule-wise may not be typical. They are very busy. Even so, I was impressed that they were always able to come once they'd committed to a given day.

Calling Front Pointand determining what equipment I needed was a pleasure. The woman I spoke with made sure I had the lowest cost possible. For example, unlike other providers I called, she informed me that I did not need sensors on every window if the windows were in a single room. In that case, I needed one motion detector, not five sets of window sensors. That saved a lot of money. Also, she was very honest about the three-year contract. The other providers told me that certainly I could get out of it if I wrote a letter explaining the circumstances. The woman at Front Point gently, but firmly informed me that I was signing a three-year contact, and that I should understand what I was getting into. I was thankful for her honesty.
Installing equipment was easy, and when I had a few problems I called them and got immediate assistance. Installation took 30 to 45 minutes.
Finally, the other two providers I called had all sorts of other strange charges or practices that Front Point does not have. For example, one provider said I had to pay three dollars a month because Seattle had a lot of false alarms for home security systems and they had to hire a private security firm to do the initial screening. Another firm said he could give me a break on the price but he had to talk to his manager first. Really, talk to his manager – does anyone think this still works? It made me distrust the company.
Finally, I have called From Point with a few questions about how the equipment works. I was able to reach a representative quickly and the information was clear and accurate.
Based on my experience, I recommend Front Point very highly.

UPDATE 2: Because
Seattle Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
's customer service is very professional they have followed up to see whether the suggested fix worked. The light modules are indeed far more reliable now. This follow-through and the much-needed improvement justify an A rating for the overall experience.

UPDATE 1: confirming
Seattle Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
's excellent customer service, they have contacted me less than a day following this review. After some diagnosing we have the system working again. I will wait a few more weeks to decide whether this is fixed, however.

The alarm system is a DYI install. It's
Seattle Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
and easy. The packaging and instructions are great, the customer service excellent. We can check on our house system using a phone app at all times. This is a great no-hassle product.
The 'home automation' part does not seem so polished, at least for the light modules. First, these are far too large and ugly for something as
Seattle Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
as flipping a switch. But they're largely unreliable. We first ordered two and only one turned up most of the time. Nothing customer service could really do about it. Over time, for whatever reason they seemed to start working so we bought a third. The latter worked fine for a couple of weeks and has not lit up since. Tonight only one module turned on. This part of the offer is, frankly, an embarassment.

should pull the light modules out of the

and redo them. This is the only reason for an overall B.

Called up
Seattle Home Automation Contractors Provider Name Locked
a few months before my ADT contract expired, to get more info about the company. I worked with Starski, and told him that I'd be in touch closer to the end of the year to work out any actual details, and he was nice enough not to call me back (I appreciate a non-pushy sales person). It happened that Angie's List had a great coupon available, so I signed up in December, and Starski was able to delay my start date in order to get me a free month of service and move my activation to January when I actually wanted it to be. I should also mention that Starski was able to swap out a few components from the Angie's List coupon deal for others that I needed more (dollar-for-dollar value exchange, with me paying the difference when I needed a few extras).
The system arrived on time, and the worst trouble I had with installation was getting all of my old ADT equipment un-stuck from my doors/windows (and cleaning off all of the glue).
So far, I love what I see. The system is easy to use, and as a bit of a home automation enthusiast, I am looking forward to hooking up some z-wave modules to control some lights and other appliances from my phone.
