"I purchased the $198 for $79 Deal for junk removal. I told the scheduler that I likely had more junk than the amount covered by the deal and asked if they could take it all -- and I would pay additional over the amount covered by the deal. The scheduler noted that in my file and said it would be no problem and it wasn't. On my appointment day, the truck and workers arrived punctually, calling 15 minutes before as promised, and the three young men cheerfully and efficiently carted a garage-ful of miscellaneous junk and debris from my backyard to their truck. They would have done a dump run and come back for a second load if needed. They even swept the street and

once the truck was loaded to get up all the small bits of glass, dirt, and wood that had fallen there while they were working. All in all, great experience, great customer service. They made sure the job was done to my satisfaction. "

The fine print indicated that this was for 2 cubic yards of debris, which is not exactly a lot of rubbish, so I was prepared to pay a bit more as stated on the coupon: "Any debris above 2 Cubic Yards, normal rates apply." Before I called the company, I tried to collect a lot of the junk I had around the house in central locations to save everyone time and to make it a bit easier to calculate the price. When the two gentlemen came to look over everything, they suggested a price of somewhere around $460 before tax. I was a bit surprised at the figure, since I knew I didn't have THAT much stuff and I told them that I had a coupon from Angies List. They told me that since my junk was in excess of 2 cubic feet, the coupon didn't apply and normal rates would be applied. At that point, I told them to wait until I called someone with the company. After a while, I finally got in touch with

, who is listed as the contact on the coupon. When I told him what I had been told by his work crew, he indicated that they had made an error and that in fact, I should take the amount that they gave me and subtract $79 from the total. I told him that although that is the amount I had paid for the coupon, I thought that actually $198 should be deducted because that is what the coupon said. I was told that the $198 didn't apply to the removal of junk, but that it applied to the man hours (which were now being used up because I was dickering back and forth about the coupon while the two guys sat in the truck...) I suggested to Mr

that there is no way it would take three man hours to collect 2 cubic yards of debris, and that I had tried to have everything collected up a bit in order to cut down on the time involved. However, he told me that he had made this special deal with Angies List that included three man hours because "Angies List doesn't want their customers to have to spend any time collecting the junk in one place." He did say that if his work crew finished in under an hour and a half (for the two of them), he would be happy to send them back to put in more time -- although I'm not sure what they would be coming back for if the junk had already been removed. So, the end result of this is that I paid $79 for a coupon I THOUGHT would be worth $198, but because I didn't understand that I had to utilize the two workmen for a full three hours to get my money's worth from the coupon, I lost out. Only $79 was deducted from my bill and for a 3/4 load, I paid $400 with tax. With the coupon included, I paid $479, which is HARDLY what I consider a "good deal." To be honest, I've never purchased a coupon that resulted in me feeling quite as "ripped off" as this one did. NO WHERE did it say that the $198 value would not be applied to the cost of the job"
