Hardwood Flooring Reviews in Seattle

Very pleased with the work
did. Liked that they are a family run business and no subcontractors. Did a good job communicating and setting up the job. Not the cheapest bidder, but worth it in my mind. Crew did a very nice job with all the details, good cleanup and location prep to control dust, etc. Would recommend them to anyone.

This company is outstanding. I had originally gone with another company that I used a Big Deal on, but they never showed up and ran off with my money. My neighbor recommended
Hardwoods. From the very first call I knew this was a better choice.
is super nice, he's responsive to all my calls and was able to fit me into his schedule. It was a bit of a last minute/emergency to get the floors done when we would be out of town. Not only was their price competitive,
came over with samples and great ideas. He is fabulous to work with. My neighbor sent photos to me while I was away and it looked incredible. As mentioned, it looks so good we are going to do the rest of the downstairs. I keep staring at my floors and can't believe how beautiful they are. Hire
and his team, they are wonderful.

Very professional & friendly company. Highly Recommend!
During the estimate appt,
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
brought out large samples (3x3') to really help decide on which stains to use, which was very helpful. He also listened to what my needs were and made recommendations to not replace boards (which another company had wanted to do)., and which stains to consider. He was patient, friendly and answered all of my questions.
Work was completed within time frame and was completed ahead of schedule. They even did a few extras for me, like installing a matching molding around the fireplace floor (to help cover up carpet glue and prevent injured toes!).

Refinished the floors, there were a few worn spots after 22 years, and the floors looked great, like brand new. Worn spots also looked great, couldn't tell any difference from the rest of the floor. Also did a nice job installing the baseboard trim, especially considering an older home with settling over the years, trim looked very professionally installed. Very punctual, were there right at 8:00 am as promised to start the project and finished in about 4 days. Overall did a nice job at a fair price.

I had purchased a Big Deal to have the parquet floor in my kitchen refinished.
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
, the owner came out and gave me an estimate to repair the floor and the price seemed reasonable. I should have suspected something was weird with these guys when it took so long to get a proper email estimate. After a few weeks and several emails, I finally got a formal estimate. It seemed reasonable with some minor adjustments needed for correct square footage. We went back and forth trying to get a good time to schedule the service, but finally agreed to a week I would be out of town. I gave them a $1300 deposit check for the work. The week prior they were to do the work, I had a handyman come take up the sideboards, I took my cat to my friend's house, I had a babysitter come for several days so that I could move all the furniture and cover up everything. I had everything covered, I sold my
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
, since it was to be replaced, demolished my kitchen island and I had my fridge moved to the outside deck. All of my things were covered and stacked in either the garage, basement or guest room. I probably spent over $300 in help from handyman fees and baby sitters getting ready for the floors to be done. The week the work was to be done, I got no call from
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
. He was supposed to start on Monday 6/16. On Wednesday, I got a message from my handyman who was doing work on the house that still no floor people. I called and left a message, no answer. On the Thursday, I get a call from him that he had been injured on the job site the week before and couldn't start my job. I, of course, felt terrible for the guy, but was upset that no one had called to update me. On Friday he called to tell me how much pain he was in. He even sent me a photo of himself looking miserable in bed (I'm sooooo not kidding, I have the photo). He called Friday to tell me more about the pain he was in. Again, I completely sympathize, back pain is the worst, but I was going to be totally screwed if this didn't get done in time. I am trying to get the house ready to rent in the next few week. I asked
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
if he or his crew could, at the very least, repair the kitchen so that I could get my new
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
installed and we could do the refinishing later. He said he would have it done on Saturday and that's the last I have heard from him. It's been over a week. My floors are a mess, my stuff is still in the garage, I have no kitchen and I have 30 people coming to my house for my toddler's birthday party this week. I have since gone to another company to do the work but this guy has my money and won't return either phone calls or emails. I just have no words to describe the lack of professionalism here. My father is a small business owner and your customers are your #1 priority. If this company couldn't do the work, they should have told me and/or get someone in who could.

The outcome was outstanding! High quality work and super fast. I may make friends take off their shoes for the first time in my life because I love the way my floors look so much! It was not an easy job to remove old subflooring and

down new hardwood that flowed with the existing wood, but it turned out great and was done in a few days.
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was knowledgable and guided us through our decision on what to do. He took the time to add pieces and mix in new & old wood at the transitions. Was very upfront about costs for each portion of the job. I would definately use him again.
After his team finished the floors we asked him to do additional detailed trim and install all new base boards throughout and

was eager to help us finish our rooms.

Artur came out and gave us a bid. (one of 5 estimates that we received) He was very polite. He went to get samples of all the stain colors for us and happily answered all of the questions we had... (which were many!)
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
scheduled us and was polite and easy to talk to.
Right after Artur started his work on our house, we realized we needed to completely rewire our house and get a completely new heating system. This was going to require a lot of heavy construction traffic on the floors. Artur advised us to halt the refinish job (even though it really put his schedule into a bind) until the work was complete, so that all the construction would not ruin the newly refinished floors. We agreed with his advice, so he put a coat of filler over all the sections that he had already sanded to protect it while we did all the other work. THen he came back 3 weeks later at relatively short notice (again, something that stressed his schedule!) to re-sand, fill, etc to finish the work. I was there when he did a fair bit of the sanding and prep work. He works very hard and takes a lot of pride in his work. It was obvious as i saw the work progress.
Even after he had stained small 'sample sections' of floor for us, in 4 different shades of stain, so that we could see exactly what it would look like, we still elected to get the natural Swedish finish. (even though the other shades looked very nice).
The final product was beautifully finished floors. It completely changed the look of the old house. It really revived the class of the house.
We felt like Artur and
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
run a very honest and good business. They care very much that their customers are happy. They were the best price, and I feel like there is no way we could have beaten the service we got from them.

We had previously had the floors refinished in the back half of our house by a different company. When we were ready to complete the front living room as well we found out that the prior company had gone out of buisiness. We contacted
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and he readily came out and gave us an estimate. He scheduled when it was convenient for us, and he was even willing to accommodate to our schedule midway through when we had an emergency. The floor is done and it looks great. We would highly recommend

I purchased a "Big Deal" for floor refinishing: 150 sf sanded and refinished with 2 coats of either Swedish finish or low-VOC for $249. All the floors in our 1926 house have been in pretty rough shape since we moved in and took up the carpets five years ago and it seemed like quite a deal--especially since square footage over 150 square feet could be added at $3 per sf (vs. $6 normal price). I specified that I'd like to have the work done any Monday in April. (Note that the actual work was done in June.)
Dmitry was a bit late (maybe half an hour or 45 minutes? for the initial estimate, but we live in West Seattle which is like the end of the Earth for a lot of people. and traffic can be pretty bad getting here so I didn't think much about it. He had a look at our floors. I initially wanted only the living room done but figured I might as well find out how much the bedroom would be as well. Dmitriy opined that we'd be foolish not to do the hall as well so I said to include that on the estimate. Since the bedroom and hall were fir they'd require a third coat, he said, so we might as well get a third coat on the oak floor in the living room as well. We discussed how the quarter-round would have to be removed in the bedroom and he asked if we'd want him to put up sheeting to keep the dust, etc. out of the other rooms. The plastic, he said, would be an additional $40. That seemed like a lot to me but my partner said yes to it. I asked Dmitriy to give me an estimate for everything, with all the details broken out: how much for each room, for removing and reinstalling the quarter-round, the plastic sheeting etc. and he agreed to that.
A few days later I received the estimate:
Resand existing hardwood floors in great room,
hallway and bedroom. Finish with light stain and 3
coats of swedish finish. Hang plastic on doors ways
for additional dust control. Price is after coupon
discount.: $1914.18 (tax to be added later)
The total square footage involved wasn't listed on the quote but it's about 425 sf. To say that the estimate was higher than I expected is an understatement. Figuring the unit price for the additional square footage at $3 and 150 sf already covered by the Big Deal, the third coat was apparently costing about $1000. Because I'd realized that the oak floor was very thin--which I wasn't sure Dmitry had realized, I decided to cut back to just the bedroom floor and emailed asking for a revised estimate, citing the high initial estimate and my concern about the thinness of the oak floor. I provided a template so that he'd understand the level of detail I wanted:
Please give me an estimate for doing just the bedroom (which I think is
close to 150 sq ft) with a third coat of finish and with and without
stain (I’m still not sure I want that). Please also list what the
additional fee is for removing the baseboards as I think we might be
able to handle that ourselves. I
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
’t think we need the plastic
sheeting in the other rooms of the house. Ideally, I'd like your
estimate to list
Total sq ft:
Covered by Angies List "big deal":
Refinishing and 2 coats of finish not covered by "big deal" 150 sq ft:
Third coat of finish:
Removal and reinstallation of baseboards:
Any additional charges:
Dmitry responded promptly telling me that the oak floor was "top nailed 1/4-inch" and could be refinished but agreed to provide a new estimate. There was a delay in getting the revised estimate; when I emailed five days later to ask for it
Seattle Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
said he had sent it but he would send it again. Three days later I received the following revised estimate:
Resand Family room with 2 coats of swedish finish. $756.00
Resand bedroom and hall (fir floors) with two coats
of swedish finish. Price after coupon. $74.00
Add third coat of finish.(recomended as minimum
for soft grain woods such as fir) $246.40
It still didn't have the level of detail I wanted and I had already said that I'd decided to do only the bedroom. More back and forth followed, with increasingly long gaps in response times. On May 1 I sent an email noting that we were still waiting for a response to a message sent on April 1 and suggesting that perhaps it would be best for him to refund the $249 I'd paid on the Big Deal so we could all move on with our lives. Dmitry replied, saying that my messages kept going to his spam filter and, fair enough, one of his went to mine. But after that happened, I started checking my spam filter for messages from him.
We finally arranged a day to have the bedroom done with three coats of low-VOC and no stain. We removed the quarter-round and hung the plastic sheeting ourselves. Dmitry said he'd be by "around 9:00." It was around 9:45 that we phoned to check on his whereabouts; he was just pulling up.
I stayed home for the day, mostly in the backyard. The actual work went pretty smoothly (though Dmitry left the front door open repeatedly though I had mentioned during the initial visit that I had a cat I didn't want to get out of the house. I kept closing the door; he kept leaving it open.) At one point he plugged something (a shop vac maybe?) into an outlet in the bedroom and blew a fuse. (The wiring in the house also dates to 1926.) I don't blame him for the blown fuse but I do wonder why he then attempted to find another outlet to use in another room which would have just resulted in another blown fuse.
He did a great job of cleaning everything up after he was finished and the floor really is beautiful now. All three coats went on the same day (and the low-VOC stuff is great; practically no smell at all). As he was leaving we talked briefly about the living room floor and he said that the top nailed floor is more expensive to have done but certainly can be done successfully. Possibly if he'd explained that on one of the earlier estimates, it would have made a difference to us.
If it weren't for the bizarre, undetailed estimates and the difficulty in communicating, I'd be giving Artistic Hardwoods a rave review. As it is, I wouldn't recommend them because communications were so frustrating. I'd recommend that Dmitriy hire an office person to arrange his schedule and prepare estimates.

Like other posters said he didn't make the appt to give me a bid. I called him back and he was in the area so he came over. He did come as promised to do the floors and he took awful stained (black in some areas) floors and made them look wonderful!! I wouldn't hesitate to use him again!
