Seattle Excavators Reviews

"Estimator showed up on time and was prompt and courteous. Didn't end up going with him due to price, but he came when he said he would and provided an estimate in short order.
"It went fine. I didn't know how this all worked. I changed from oil to gas heat and

State has a program most homes qualify for helping remove old tanks as long as you do it soon after you are no longer using it.
The company doing the work is probably most interested in the work the state pays for if they find contaminated soil-- and probably would have reduce the price to me had I known to negotiate for a lower price up front. My fixed cost was $700 or so; the state ended up paying several thousand for additional work needed.
"Owner did all of the diagnostics, proposal, and business, and some of the repair work. Owner's crew did the labor. All involved were professional and they worked very fast to finish the job on the next day after start day. All commitments made regarding time, money, and quality were exceeded. Experience was good, and my son referred his next door neighbor who had similar diagnostic and repair work done to his sewer, and he was also very satisfied. The only issue was difficulty confirming timely receipt of payment by mail. Seemed to have an issue w/ receiving

Box. Very minor relative to very good experience otherwise.
"This project is currently in-process. My house is on a very tight urban lot, yet Excavators NW was able to efficiently move in multiple machines and get the house in the air right away. The excavation process removed a huge quantity of soil and basically consumed my lot wall to wall between the dig and the required 1:1 sloping. The city of Seattle and my Geotech are being extremely strict with me, so the guys on site required a bit of coaching from me to get the cut to comply with the city's needs. In the end, we got the dig looking great and are now moving into forming the foundation. Save for a few days of delay due in part to excavation being more extensive than anticipated, a structure change on my end, and some staffing reorganization on their part, I would say the guys have made a good effort to keep things on schedule. Major earthwork on a tight, sloping lot is never likely to be pro-forma. On the whole, Exc. NW has been very responsive to me as an owner/builder. . The Site Leads,

very are experienced and thoughtful about their approach. One of the main reasons I hired them after our initial on-site interview was that I knew they would listen and work well with me to fulfill my project the way I envisioned it. So far that communication and trust has held up. Their pricing reflects their level of service. One of my main concerns going into an excavation process was a ballooning budget due to the unforeseen problems that come up once you see what's really under your feet. Exc. NW has been reasonable and fair with any changes that have arisen. Where others use changes as a

"Kept us informed of project progress and any setbacks. Managed expectations well. More comments upon completion of job.
"My problem was water leeching through my foundation into my basement after heavy rains. I went through almost two years of short lived "solutions" that didn't stick before realizing my old side sewer pipes were deteriorating and needed to be completely replaced. The need was greatest adjacent to my house but I elected to install new pipe all the way to the city main.
THE GOOD: I was surprised with the variety of costs and solutions I was offered. Metropolitan seemed to visualize the reality of the problem most accurately – always the best place to begin - and propose the most efficient solution. They also had the best price, though not by a large margin over the closest competitor. The exact job specs were not exactly the same among any of the 4 bids I received; each was different and to a degree that surprised. It was Metropolitan's combination of problem assessment, efficient solution and price that caused me to hire them.

does suffer from a bit of "Contractors Disease" which means to me: Get in, get paid and get out as fast as possible. The last 5% of the job may never get done.
My sidewalk was necessarily excavated and closed to foot traffic and Metropolitan has yet to come back to “reopen” it for use. I moved their “sidewalk closed” signs and orange

, etc. onto my grass where they still sit. The concrete forms around their sidewalk work are still in place. It has now been two weeks as I write.
10/8/13: The "sidewalk closed" materials disappeared the day after I posted this review. It is approaching 3 weeks since they were paid and I have yet to hear from Metropolitan about repairing the landscape border damage and am now taking more active steps to get them back.
I took a bucket and filled it with rocks and concrete chunks to get them out of the lawn so I could mow the grass I could reach. A section of granite "bricks" and rubber border between my lawn and landscaping was removed in the excavation process. The granite "bricks" and rubber border they cut out were thrown away and not replaced.

told me over the phone he “would take care of all that” but it has been two weeks and no word. The grass itself looks like a broken up grass profile of the Hunchback of Notre Dame – after he jumped from the bell tower.

are the two owners, I believe. I met

briefly on site once, where he first eyeballed the job. He later explained to me how I could upload existing video to YouTube where he could examine it. The bid came by email after he examined my video.
I’ve spoken to both of them by phone several times but never saw

’t know if either came to the site again.

I’m not sure how much of what is discussed on the phone with either of them makes it into the brains of the guys who are actually doing the work.

However, I would hire them again but be slower to pay, only after EVERYTHING was done to my satisfaction.

friendly and very responsive to my request.

and two additional
workers came out as scheduled, though they were held up finishing
another job that morning; I was working from home and so was flexible on the time. They stayed late into the evening filling up
their trailer with concrete chunks, and left their truck here for the
night. The next morning, they were back and finished by about 11 AM.
They worked hard through a rainstorm and I appreciated the little details, such as separating the strip of grass that had grown up between the concrete they removed and a pad we wanted to keep. They borrowed our wheelbarrow to speed up concrete removal, and made sure to wash it well before returning it to us. They removed almost every speck of concrete that they were responsible for - I have only come across a few small chips in the dirt here and there. I would definitely use them again.
"I love my new place! (Especially the gigantic tub

paid close attention to detail--it paid off in a beautiful, well built addition. Everything has functioned without fail and I am completely satisfied. I appreciate his attention to deadlines, and that he finished the apartment within the desired time frame. He stuck to the budget I needed, providing excellence at an affordable cost. He was always pleasure to work with. His professionalism, enthusiasm, and knowledge were invaluable. He is a good communicator and was always available when i needed him. He painted my entire living room, ceiling and all, burgundy, as I requested—and repainted it beige at no cost! (So glad he did!) I really enjoyed the friendly, skilled workers he employed. They were trustworthy and I never had to worry about them if I wasn't home. They were thorough, dependable, and extremely helpful. The workplace was neat and upheaval was kept to a minimum.

and his team worked successfully with three generations of family members living in the home, not an easy task! He was respectful, tactful, and handled situations that arose with finesse. I’m impressed!
"Good service. Very responsive.Estimate for add-ons was not accurate.Made things sound would be just a little time when it ended up quite a lot more.Final price was much higher than expected.
Seattle Excavators Provider Name Locked
did work out a compromise in the end.Flat fee portion of the project was fine."
"The job was excellently done. Very detail oriented. They keep the work area clean. When Bill first came to bid on the work, he said that he does quality work, now that the job is done, I am very impressed with the result. I am recommending ANBConcrete to my friends and families. I have a project with my neighbor that ANBConcrete will do for us. Highly recommend them to anyone. Its hard to find honest contractors that are easy to work with. These guys are very friendly and trustworthy."
