"Rich was amazing. We looked all around for someone with strong building science knowledge and expertise in spray on foam insulation. Rich really knows his building" science and spray foam! We started with a energy audit through Community Power Works in Seattle. Armed with the report and a suggestion from our auditor to look into Spray foam it insulate and air seal our crawl space we started the which lead us to Rich. Rich had no issue driving out from Bainbridge to Seattle to give us an estimate. He is full of knowledge and prepared a detailed estimate. He was super responsive to questions in email including sending me building science articles and tips on some DIY air sealing work I did. He worked hard when he was on site. Workmanship was very good. Kept the site clean. A nice surprise toward the end was that Rich was a PSE approved contractor which made us eligible for insulation rebates through PSE. We can feel the comfort difference in the winter and the ventilation removes the need for a dehumidifier in the Summer. I highly recommend Rich and .

" was a pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end. He was punctual and clear, and the project came in exactly on budget. Installing" the downstairs heat fan required landscaping the outer yard and installing a drain, which turned out to be more work than anticipated, but he did it without complaint and was very professional about it. Also, one of his workers was injured on another project, so himself jumped in to help, which I thought was great. One very good thing that did was to hire a really excellent subcontractor to install the actual heat pump. My neighbors had a heat pump installed a few months before us, and they've had multiple problems with it. Ours works great though. The heat pump guys showed up at our house and were such geeks - they knew the whole thing backwards and forwards, and had the same systems in their own homes. I could tell they were passionate about their work. They even went the extra mile and installed a mini-condenser unit in the inside line to keep water out of the lines (at no extra cost to me). Good experience, very easy, and the budget numbers were right. We'd hire them again!

Energy Efficiency Audits

One thing homeowners can do to save on energy costs is to have a home energy audit conducted. This will reveal where drafts are entering from outdoors and where insulation is ineffective. Energy auditors can also recommend upgrades in appliances to save energy.

Many homeowners experience energy loss in their homes due to gaps around windows and doors and a lack of insulation — a home energy audit can pinpoint the source

A home energy audit can help you assess how much energy your home consumes. An audit can also show you ways to improve efficiency.

Auditors typically use a variety of high-tech equipment such as blower doors which measure air infiltration; infrared cameras that scan to identify poorly insulated areas; and surface thermometers to find leaks and drafts.

Home Energy Audit reviews in Seattle

was on-time, and very professional. He explained what areas he'd need access to, took a tour of the house with us, and then set about the audit process. He took photos and used a thermal imaging camera during portions of the audit. A few days later we were presented with an incredibly thorough audit report that we have ...More used to come up with a plan for replacing our heaters and hot water heaters. We were very impressed with the entire experience, and are glad to have a comprehensive document that we can refer to when making decisions related to energy at our house.

It went great! The provider was knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. It was clear that he enjoyed helping homeowners increase the thermal efficiency of homes and acquiring suggestions on how to go about improving the home for winter was easy. His tools and techniques were sound and effective in identifying problem areas and gauging the amount ...More of improvement that could be reasonably expected in our location. Absolutely fantastic.

Overall I was quite happy with the work that was performed. The final price came in exactly the same as the initial bid. There were a few minor problems that might have been resolved with better communication but overall the end product was acceptable. The project did extend about three weeks beyond anticipated however this is due to the main contractor ...More suffering a serious injury of another job site. This is a large project and I will probably hire them again.

Someone from the office called and scheduled the appoint. The tech was
on time, and provide a very detailed report of our house and answered
several questions during the inspection. They found several areas that
needed out attention, that we were unaware of. I am very happy with the
service we received.

Arrived on time and walked through the house with a thermal camera to show me were I was losing heat. Very informative and helpful in showing me what I could do on my own and what I needed to hire someone for.

When I signed up for the energy audit program, I had my doubts and thought I wouldn't find anything new. I went ahead with it anyway because Seattle City Light has such a great rebate program partnered with Community Power Works. I think the actual cost is around $400 but my cost was only $95. from ...More contacted me after I signed up online. I had to re-schedule a couple times but he was very patient, courteous and very quick in responding. When he arrived, I gave him a quick tour of the house and from then on, he went around and did all the testing very very thoroughly. I interrupted him a few times with questions and he gave me all the information without a flinch. He's very pleasant and extremely efficient and knowledgeable. I'm kind of surprise to see this level of high quality service in Seattle, to be honest. After the audit was done which took about 3.5 hours, he gave me a verbal summary and showed me the problem areas and his recommendation. He has great recommendations, by the way. I am planning to sell my house in a couple year so investing a lot of money in the house is not my priority so he gave me more economical options as well. The following day, he promptly sent me a detailed report via email that includes pictures, detailed report, and recommendations. Oh, one more thing, he also replaced my bulbs with energy-efficient bulbs (16 of them), completely free of charge (both bulbs and service). I am more than happy that I got this energy audit by . I highly recommend his business.

Very happy with the service and have already started working on some of the improvements that we're able to do on our own. A great summary with lots of photos was provided. He even replaced all of our canned lights with free energy efficient bulbs.
- Jeanette R.

The employee ( ) arrived at the designated time. He took time to ask me about any specific concerns I had, then explained what he would be doing and looking for during the inspection. He was efficient, taking the exact amount of time he anticipated to complete the inspection - including checking out the attic crawlspace. Afterward ...More he explained that he would be emailing me an inspection report in 1-2 days. It actually took 4 days before I sent the report, but when I saw how thorough it was with digital images and whatnot, I understood. Overall, I was very pleased with the information provided in the report and by 's inspection.
