They were able to schedule the work within a week and finished the job in a single long day.
Though the estimate and final bill was 50% more expensive than the next bid I received (from sole proprietor), I was won over by their responsiveness, project plan and (in retrospect) quality of work.
I have to give extra kudos to Rich for this job because we ran into an uncooperative city inspector with a chip on his shoulder whose actions delayed the project several times. Since the driveway approach joins with the street, a street use permit and inspection was required. We eventually found out from the inspector's supervisor that the delays were unnecessary. Throughout the whole thing Rich was calm and professional and came up with several solutions to stay close to my budget despite the unwarranted demands of the inspector, which also affected Rich's schedule and his other jobs. There was never a time when I was wondering what was going on because Rich always kept me updated and did his best to move forward with the job.

We ended up canceling the job with them, leaving the jackhammered concrete triangle open, while we reassessed options. In the end, we got bids for replacing the entire basement slab (because of the giant air pocket his crew had discovered). LJ
So overall, the price was fair for the work done.
The work that was done was not the same as that we believed was outlined in the contract, and was not to concrete standards, by our later understanding.
