"I set up an appointment with the owner. He had scheduled for 12 noon today but then rescheduled for 8am. He was over 40 minutes late. He also advised me there was" a $79 trip fee and I could not use my multiple deals in one trip so I would have to pay multiple trip fees. The fine print says to buy multiple deals for bigger jobs and doesn't mention the trip charge. This seems like a bait and switch to me and I am cancelling my deals.

"i purchased the deal for 2 hours of handyman service.
showed up promptly ontime and completed both projects with great care and precision." While installing the garbage disposal also helped trouble shoot a small leak i'd noticed and took care of that at the same time. Super easy to schedule with
, and will definitely use them again.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

http://indigochreblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/img_0835.jpg

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I am not sure a general handyman is the right person for the skylight.  We fix quite a few skylights that were installed by handymen and that could be the problem at its origination.  You will want a roofer for that.

As long as you are splitting the trades at that point, might as well get a flooring contractor to look at the floor once you have figured out the skylight repair/replacement equation.

The guy showed up late, was slow to work. His skill were terrible. He left nails protruding in the fence where my children could be injured - after having removed all the screws that were originally there. The handrail he built doesn't match and he sloppily shimmed (after he cut the lumber too short) it with a mis-matched piece. He missed spots (painting) on the deck, like the sides of the posts. The fence he "mended" fell apart almost right away.
This guy is terrible. He might be a nice person, but he should NEVER wield a hammer or paintbrush. I would not have him on my property again, even to fix the mess he made.

We had a wall outlet that needed repair. It was repaired quickly and efficiently. We were chit-chatting with the repair man and he said we shouldn't use a particular space heater with our older house wiring. We appreciated his candidness. He also checked all lighting fixtures, inside and outside. Some he quickly repaired. However, we had one fixture that was on the second floor above our garage, illuminating the driveway. It hadn't worked for years. It took the repair man some time to figure out what was going on but he kept at it. Turns out when we had some plumbing done in the garage the plumber had cut some electrical lines. We were most definitely impressed he tracked it down and figured it out. We will definitely hire

Although

& Remodeling said that their Guy,
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
, would arrive at 9am. He did.
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
took a look at the job site and then left to purchase the materials that he would need. He returned with a 2 by 2, a piece of Composite siding, nails, Caulking and Wood Paint Primer.
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
then removed the Dryer Vent hose and commenced removing the siding, 2 rows of it, to get to the Termite damaged wood.
Upon checking the piece of 2 by 2 that he cut out, I found that the damage had gone higher than we thought. So I instructed him to remove more siding, 3 more rows. After that the piece of 2 by 2 was found to be clear of damage.
He then cut a new piece of 2 by 2 and butt it to the original piece.
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
then replaced the 3 rows of siding he had removed without damage. At this time I found a piece of Rough Sawn Plywood in my shed and from that he cut 2 new pieces of siding for the bottom two sections. FYI... the Composite siding was not wide enough to match the existing siding.
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
then caulked all the joints and nail holes and painted the bare wood with Paint Primer.
Last of all he went back to the Hardware Store to return the Piece of Composite siding and purchase a Piece of Redwood Trim. The original piece of Trim had cracked and broke when he was trying to remove it. He then caulked and Primed that too.

& Re-modeling's Project Manager had Quoted the time of completion by One Guy as approximately 3-4 hours plus Materials. Due to having to remove more siding and cut out more of the damaged 2 by 2 wood, the job actually took 5.5 hours.
I was delighted to finally (4 years later) get the Termite Damage removed and replaced with new wood. To me it was a job well done. Thank you

Well, not to be bias but
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
and I have been friends for years. Every time we had a problem at home he came to my rescue.
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
installed outside lights on timers, he installed a security camera for our front door. Anchored my heavy gun safe in my garage.
San Jose Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
also installed an electrical ballast in my kitchen ceiling fluorescent fixture. He is so reliable, keeping appointments, and talk about professionalism. I worked at IBM 41 years (retired now) service was a big factor with my customer base and you know when someone uses the right tools and respect the interior of your home by wearing booties or taking off their shoes. Something else I always check the contractors vehicle if its maintained well so is his or her attitude. Come to my home with a junkie vehicle, dirty, balled tires, we have a problem already. I know time flies but I still call him when I need help.
