San Jose Countertop Installers Reviews

"Everything went well at first. They removed the old countertops so the cabinets and drywall could be fixed. They took the cabinets to their shop to fix, and did a good job: they used A-A grade plywood to replace the water-damaged particle board the cabinets were originally made of. They fixed the wall and the floor. All seemed to be going well.
Then it was time to install the granite. First they broke one slab and then installed it anyway without telling me. They just patched it up with some epoxy and left. Over the next few days, the break pulled apart further and further, so it was clear it had to be redone. No problem, said

was very helpful in the planning phase and helped design our kitchen layout and cabinets, as well as our master bathroom. She was also extremely helpful when it came time to start picking finishes. She totally understood our style and helped us narrow down design options. In addition, she was not afraid to let us know when she felt that we may be making choices that we could regret. We greatly valued her opinions and support!
We had bought an older home that needed a lot of updating and improvement, so the job was quite big. Luckily, we were not living in the home during the remodel. However, we stopped by to check the progress at least a couple of times per week and were always impressed that the workers cleaned up after themselves each day and stored their tools even though they knew we weren't living there. Whenever we did see the workers, they were always pleasant and courteous.
About mid-way through the project,

's foreman leading up our project left the company. This caused some delays, but the new foreman,

, was even better than the first and did everything he could to help make up for lost time. We had told

from the beginning that he could take his time because we weren't in any hurry to move in (we were living at my father's house so that I could take care of him until he passed away from cancer). The project was completed about 2 months behind schedule, but we had added some work to the original scope and wanted

We have now lived in our home for about 3 months. After we moved in we began to notice certain issues and defects and kept a running list of items to be fixed.
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
sent his crew back out about a month ago and fixed everything on our list with great attention to detail. We could not be any happier with our "new" (old) home!
We have worked with other contractors on smaller projects at our previous homes before and they always quoted us much lower, but the final bill was much higher and the quality of the work was lacking. We paid
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
exactly what he originally quoted us and are very happy with the results. We would highly recommend

for his professionalism, attention to detail, and passion for his work. He is an honest person and demands the same level of honesty and quality from his crew.

"Our service was great, we finished on time with only a few bumps in the road. We first had to take down a load bearing wall that divided the kitchen and the living room and put in a 24 foot header. They then pulled up the old kitchen flooring and matched the hardwood floor that we have in the rest of the house. All of the drywall had to be taken down, and they re-insulated and added new drywall. They put up the cabinets and countertops (which they built from slabs) and put up a backsplash. This all took about 8 weeks, which was around the original estimate. Considering we were camped out in our room for the duration, it went as well as I can imagine.
To start with,
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
was very accommodating upon our first meeting. Their showroom had many samples and a wide selection. She was prompt in getting back to us with a quote. She responded by email and by telephone. She spoke with us multiple times after hours (late evening) to answer our questions.
This was our first kitchen remodel, so we did not know what to expect. She was knowledgeable and explained the process.
The process takes two weeks to obtain a custom template to fit the counter to our kitchen specs. The team that came in to remove the tile and measure was friendly and professional. They put plastic down so that we could use our kitchen while the fabricated the counters.
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
also helped us pick our new sink - very nice stainless steel sink. They ran into unanticipated extra work because our tile cement was difficult to remove (this was a surprise to us as well as them).
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
was gracious and professional - she honored the quote even though she explained that the demo work was tougher than usual. Also, the removal of the tile caused damage to the walls. She offered, at no additional cost, to install a larger backsplash than we had originally ordered. It looks great!
In the end - we are impressed - every time there was a snag, they responded right away and took care of it, and they were patient with us.
Great family business, fair prices and honest as the day is long.

"I've used
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
before and was completely happy with the work that was done.
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
does things right so they don't have to be redone. The living room fan had been installed off center with too small of an electrical box. He centered it, put in a new electrical box and it is in to stay. The tile in the bath area looks beautiful and the tile on the floor is perfect! He gave me advice and options when I asked about what type of tile should be used around the tub and shower and on the floor. The toilet was not set properly and needed a new flange and now I don't have to worry about it jiggling around or leaking. There had been shower doors which I asked him to remove and put in a curtain rod.
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
suggested a bowed rod which I hadn't seen before and wasn't sure about, but it is perfect, and he even hung the shower curtain and liner. He had given me estimates on the work that needed to be done so there were no unnecessary surprises. He does things properly, professionally and punctually. I am going to have him do the bathroom in my rental as well. I will always call him when there is work to be done and would recommend him to anyone!!!
"They did a great job. They were friendly and professional. Due to material not in time (granite) and one cabinet, they over passed the time limit by two weeks."
"We had ordered some Tile from Bay Stone Depot that we were happy with (see separate review of Tile Service) However we went through Tile &Grout king for install (See separate review) . Everything went well so we decided to order our countertop from Bay Stone Depot as well. The ordering process was painless however everything related to the install was comically unorganized. We

a diagram for them twice in the store which they lost. I was called the two days after paying for the quartz and asked to fax another copy of the diagram (this was #3). The installer came to take a template the next day and informed us they would be installed thursday. We then called thursday morning to confirm installation time and were told that we would not be able to have counters installed until Saturday (note that we had to call them for this information). This resulted in having to move other contractors around on very short notice.

didn't seem terribly concerned about the schedule push and offered no compensation or apology for the project slip. Overall, for a large organization, I am disappointed with the clarity of communication between the supplier and their installers. I plan to shop at Bay Stone in the future for materials only, but their installation services leave much to be to be desired. Considering a vast majority of the cost of this particular project was in labor, I am not happy with this transaction.

(Manager) offered us free in-home consultation, measurements, and emailed us 3-D/ 2-D diagrams of the new kitchen for us to review and change until we decided on a final design. She worked within our budget to come up with a great layout that turned our eyesore of a 1970's kitchen into a modern, functional, beautiful one.

estimated that it would take at least 5 days to complete the job and A1 was even able to begin work on the weekend (Saturday) to help with our scheduling time off work. For our remodel A1 had a two person team show up. One person was the lead cabinet installer and the other one was an expert with the granite counter-tops. These two guys worked from morning until evening for 4 days straight! Make sure you have an area for them to do their work ( finishing carpentry, cutting/ polishing of the granite counter top, etc.) All of their messes were cleaned at the end of their shift each day. Their work ethic was amazing and because of this, the job was actually finished a day early! Yea! Remember that the days spent at home can be long while remodeling, but it is well worth it after seeing the end result.
"I own a number of rental
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
in Las Vegas. In one four plex, two of the four units needed minor cabinet repair, cabinet refinishing or painting, new counter tops, and a dishwasher sourced and installed. While these guys were responsive, they were not responsive to my needs or schedule. What do I mean by that? Though I live in California, I get to Vegas frequently, and asked that I meet with their estimator to do an in person walk thru so I could explain 'exactly' what I was looking for. On Thursday asked for a following Monday or Tuesday appointment. Unfortunately they jumped the gun (is this punctual ???), and had an estimate for me on the next day, Friday, so I did not meet with the estimator in person.

My reaction? Estimate was quite expensive, generic, and left me with more questions than answers.

it was useful as the high bid to compare against subsequent bids.

Would I use them again? Not likely.
"This project seemed to take forever, but we couldn't be happier with the end result. I certainly can't fault AKD for the timeframe - this remodel was very extensive and was bound to take some time to complete.

We started out working with our designer, Yana. She was very helpful and always seemed to be excited about the project, which definitely gave us a feeling that we were in good hands. She first produced several layout options, after which we collaborated to refine one of the designs into the final plan for our space. Because that plan required the removal of a couple of load-bearing walls, Yana arranged for an engineer to provide input on the design. We ended up with something that looks really great. Yana also accompanied us to help pick out granite and backsplash options. Her advice was very helpful to us - trying to pick from hundreds of options can be daunting, but her experience and expertise were immeasurably useful.

Once demolition and construction started, we noticed significant progress every day.
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
and the rest of the construction guys were very friendly and professional. They did a great job of cleaning up before heading home for the day, which made it easy for us to check out the work that had been done on a daily basis. They were very responsive to all of the questions and comments that we had during the entire process.
San Jose Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
and his guys also helped out with a couple of incidental problems that cropped up during the project, which saved me from having to hunt down more people when they were already around.

The only negative experience we had during the entire remodeling project was with the appliance company, who I'll review separately. AKD were nothing but the ultimate example of professionalism, expertise, and customer service during this entire process. We're very pleased with the final product and no less satisfied with the steps along the way.

I've attached some before & after photos to show off AKD's work.
