Cabinet Refacing Reviews in San Jose

(one of their sales reps) came to our new home with samples of cabinet doors, quartz, and granite. He was about 30min late for the appointment, but with a good reason -- I only took the punctuality down to a B for it because after talking to the owner, I believe him when he says that they are never late in delivering a job (and that is way more important than one sales call).
was helpful, taking us through the process and doing a bid on the spot -- something we got from no other contractor we have spoken to. It was a good bid so we put down $100 and said we would go visit their shop. The reason for the other B is that
was a little heavy on the sale close for our taste, but not enough to keep us from going forward (a heavy close attempt is a show-stopper for us).
The day after the in-home visit we went up to their shop in San
(by the way, if you go do NOT follow the directions from Apple iPhone maps to their address -- it took us to the opposite side of San
; their place is to the west of 880). We met the owner,
, who helped us understand different granite edging options and showed us the granite they had. He even showed how on L's in a kitchen countertop they often cut it as one piece from slab quartz so there is no seam. We then went up to the cabinet factory in Oakland a couple miles away (in a bad neighborhood, but low land cost for factories is a good thing). Nick, who runs the cabinet shop, was very nice and gave us a tour and showed what he could do with styles, stains, and paints. Prior to going up we were concerned about the cabinet quality because the samples
had with him weren't good (he said they were old and not representative, and he was sure right). The shop had advanced tools and the cabinets were very high quality. Nick had an amazing amount of styles to choose from and he can match any color you bring in. The next step would have been for Nick and
to come to our place to take the detailed measurements and do a detailed 3D design. We ended up cancelling that appointment because of the reason given in the section above (no fault of
). We called and told them to keep the hundred dollars we put down (which by the contract they could have), and
was really nice and said he would send our check back (and did it). If you are looking for custom granite or quartz and/or cabinets I definitely recommend checking them out.

Although sometimes there was a bit of a language
, I got exactly what I asked for and was very happy with the outcome. I did not pay to have the kitchen doors stripped, only cleaned and revarnished so did not expect perfection, only improvement, and they exceeded my expectations. They took all doors to their shop to spray and there was a bit of confusion about when they were going to be done. It took a couple of days longer than originally planned but the whole process from start to finish was only about 10 days- far quicker than a remodel. This time of course depends on how many jobs they were doing and I had it done mid summer- probably their busiest time.

Cabinet Refacing reviews in San Jose

He's awesome and his prices are good. He pays attention to detail and did some real meticulous work. He was accommodating on helping me pick out colors. He doesn't usually do crown molding but he did it for me so I didn't have to hire anyone else.

Our kitchen walls, window sills, cabinet doors and pantry doors needed painting. Nick was prompt, neat, careful and respectful of our home. He prepared the surfaces (including a wallpapered wall) by sanding, puttying and priming them before painting. He removed the old cabinet hardware which was centered on each door and replaced them with new hardware and hinges in a more desirous location. He taped everything and protected all with drop cloths. He repaired our countertop at the seam. He cleaned up everything before he left at night. With the exception of one night, we were able to use the kitchen during the process. He was well organized. Nick also chipped, sanded and repainted our entryway stairs. He fixed our front door which was sticking and installed weatherproofing. He fixed and adjusted one cafe door by installing a new hinge. He repaired the front window box and installed new curtain rods in an area we could not reach by ourselves. Although never asked, he cleaned the ceiling tiles. Nick takes pride in doing a good job and does class work. We will definitely call him again in the future.

He looked around. He was on time, professional, and clean. He gave me suggestions. He was here a week ago, so it takes time to get the bid together. I called some people for refacing cabinets. Most of them don't want to reface. They say that it's almost as costly to reface as to replace. He got back to me the next day after I called. He was right on time.

In general, I'd have to say that

and his crew are really easy to work with and
San Jose Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
is extremely patient and thoughtful when trying to solve all the little issues that inevitably arise doing this kind of work. The attention to detail is impressive, and

is really concerned and thoughtful about the homeowner. He even spent 4 hours with me installing some appliances after the job was completely finished! The only complaint that I had in this particular job was the pace of progress during parts of the job.
San Jose Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
actually brought it up himself and apologized as well. For me, we weren't in a particular hurry; preferring to have a good job rather than a rush job, but there was a period there where things were a bit slow. That being said, my wife and I already have some plans in mind about a couple of things we'd like to do in our new house (we were remodeling our old place in preparation to rent it out) and we definitely have

in mind as soon as our bank account has recovered sufficiently.

and his guys did an excellent job. They matched the flooring color exactly. They were punctual and took every precaution to minimize sanding dust. They completed the work on time and for the price they quoted. The even performed an additional staining/varnishing task at no extra cost.

was extremely responsive to our needs and very pleasant to deal with. This was an economically attractive alternative to either refacing existing cabinets or (particularly) fabricating new ones.

Twelve years of neglect

to ugly kitchen and bathroom cabinets, with water-damaged finish. To prepare the house for sale, we used NHance to revive the look of the cabinets, for far less than the cost of refacing or replacing. First, a sales person came out to take measurements, discuss options, and set expectations. Later, prior to the start of work, a supervisor came out to make final decisions and preparations. Finally, two workers completed the job in about 7 hours. They were absolutely true to their promise of dust-free and odor-free, which was important to us with small children in the house. They try to play up the sophistication of their offering, but it's really quite

. They clean off old grime and remove or rough up old finish with what looks like a scratchy sponge. Next, they use a palette of bleaches, pigments, and dyes to try to color-repair water damage to the wood. Then they use a sponge or rag to apply a coat of sealer and a couple of coats of finish. There was no dust except for the dirt, grease, and other gunk that dropped off. I could not smell the finish at all. I figure they were getting about $100 per person-hour, so I didn't feel bad about calling them back for some touch-up work (and they were totally responsive to my request). They originally just forgot to do the kickboard under the kitchen counters. Also, there were several places where the finish had not gotten all the way down to some deep grain in the wood. Finally, there were some corners where the finish or dye had apparently pooled up giving a dark look. All of these were fixed in the followup visit. The result is of course not perfect. A very close look will

many imperfections, and perhaps most of these could be fixed if they spent twice as much time on the job. But now when a potential buyer walks into the kitchen, they will see totally reasonable cabinets, and not be turned off by disgusting water-damaged finish. In the end, we have to ask ourselves -- why didn't we do this three years ago???

Excellent! My house was built in 1955. It had been significantly remodeled before I bought it in 2004, with the one "weak spot" being the cabinetry in two bathrooms. I went back and forth on whether to completely gut and remodel the bathrooms. In the end, I decided that I really liked the storage space of the existing cabinets, but they had plain, flat, painted doors and drawers very typical of the 50's and 60's. So I decided to explore

. I was referred to

. I looked up materials on his website and took photos of the existing cabinets and e-mailed them to him, he got back to me later the same day with a ballpark quote. When I told him I was interested, he visited my home to take measurements, show me samples of the actual materials. He explained the entire process and told me it would take 3-4 weeks to get the materials fabricated. That was on

19, 2008. A couple of weeks later,
San Jose Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
called back to schedule installation, and we agreed on August 12 and 13, 2008. He told me it would take two days. On August 12,
San Jose Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
showed up exactly when he told me he would, had all the materials, and went right to work. He worked cleanly and made the whole process effortless for me. He worked for two days from 8:30 to 5 each day and, at the end of the second day, he was completely done and everything cleaned up, as promised. The quality of the materials is very good and his workmanship shows a great deal of attention to detail. I went the "practical" route and chose laminated products (essentially,

that looks like wood). I can't believe how real it looks! I'm sure most people will never guess it isn't real wood. I chose a different design ("wood") for each bathroom (to match the existing tile), and I am very impressed with the results. The doors use very nice

hinges, and drawers fit perfectly and roll effortless on their new glides. All in all, just a fantastic job, like having two new bathrooms!

The work did begin on the promised start date. They have a goal of completing demolition and cabinet refacing/counter-top support installation in 5 days. In our case it took 6 1/2 days. The worker who did the demolition/cabinet refacing was extremely hard working and very professional. Separate workers installed the counter-tops and sink, and another worker did the electrical work. This took a total of 3 weeks. There were some problems with the stain on a couple of the cabinet doors. It took about a month for new doors to be manufactured and installed. The only other problem was that the electrician forgot to replace the electrical plug under the sink. This was taken care of within two weeks. The main problem with
San Jose Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
, as I see it, is not with what they do, but with what they don't do. Because they don't do lighting, floors, or taping/texturing/painting of walls, I had to deal with four other contractors to get everything I wanted to get done for the kitchen remodeling.
