San Jose Cabinet Makers Reviews

"Everything went well at first. They removed the old countertops so the cabinets and drywall could be fixed. They took the cabinets to their shop to fix, and did a good job: they used A-A grade plywood to replace the water-damaged particle board the cabinets were originally made of. They fixed the wall and the floor. All seemed to be going well.
Then it was time to install the granite. First they broke one slab and then installed it anyway without telling me. They just patched it up with some epoxy and left. Over the next few days, the break pulled apart further and further, so it was clear it had to be redone. No problem, said
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, he wants his customers to be happy. They removed the broken slab, prepared a new one, and broke it again before it even made it into the house. The third slab finally went in without breaking.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
never reimbursed me for the two extra slabs I had to buy.

San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
and
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, his designer, were fantastic to work with.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
and
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
both met with us to walk through our home and understand the project we wanted to do.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
's bid was competitive, but the biggest reason we decided to hire him is because we could see how passionate he is about his work and we felt that
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
's vision was a perfect match for the look and feel we were going for.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was very helpful in the planning phase and helped design our kitchen layout and cabinets, as well as our master bathroom. She was also extremely helpful when it came time to start picking finishes. She totally understood our style and helped us narrow down design options. In addition, she was not afraid to let us know when she felt that we may be making choices that we could regret. We greatly valued her opinions and support!
We had bought an older home that needed a lot of updating and improvement, so the job was quite big. Luckily, we were not living in the home during the remodel. However, we stopped by to check the progress at least a couple of times per week and were always impressed that the workers cleaned up after themselves each day and stored their tools even though they knew we weren't living there. Whenever we did see the workers, they were always pleasant and courteous.
About mid-way through the project,
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
's foreman leading up our project left the company. This caused some delays, but the new foreman,
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, was even better than the first and did everything he could to help make up for lost time. We had told
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
from the beginning that he could take his time because we weren't in any hurry to move in (we were living at my father's house so that I could take care of him until he passed away from cancer). The project was completed about 2 months behind schedule, but we had added some work to the original scope and wanted
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
to take his time to make sure everything was done exactly how we wanted it.
We have now lived in our home for about 3 months. After we moved in we began to notice certain issues and defects and kept a running list of items to be fixed.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
sent his crew back out about a month ago and fixed everything on our list with great attention to detail. We could not be any happier with our "new" (old) home!
We have worked with other contractors on smaller projects at our previous homes before and they always quoted us much lower, but the final bill was much higher and the quality of the work was lacking. We paid
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
exactly what he originally quoted us and are very happy with the results. We would highly recommend
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
for his professionalism, attention to detail, and passion for his work. He is an honest person and demands the same level of honesty and quality from his crew.

"The units turned out beautiful and it looks wonderful. My only problem I had with the company was with the designer. She did a great job but told me that I was being offered 30% only at that time if I paid for half of it now which I did. I was then told of a time line of when someone would come out and do a final measurement before everything is ordered. I waited for two to three weeks before calling the office. A message was left for the designer who promptly called me back. She hadn't put the order in thus I never received a phone call. I also had to retake measurements on the size of the computer tower which I then provided to her. I received a phone call a week later and the guy remeasured before the final order was placed. I waited a few more weeks before I received a phone call to have it installed. It was supposed to take two days but happily it took only one.
So from time of signature approximately the middle of April, the job was completed the end of June, beginning of
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
. I can't remember the exact completion date.
The price is steep but it really came out nice and let's face it, It's not going to be removed anytime soon so it will remain in my house for a lifetime.

"Wonderful cabinets and a great crew. We spoke to a number of cabinet shops; but all paled when it came to our needs for custom measurements.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
prices were even better than the others.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
came to our home three times to measure and recommend layout options. He and his wife

provided full-size wood door samples to take to the granite stores.
We did a full kitchen with adjoining family room using a common slab granite counter with red birch cabinets. We like the cabinets so much we did two bathrooms with matching cabinets plus had custom hallway linen cabinet frames and doors made. The kitchen cabinets came with matching crown moldings, toe kicks, custom cuts for our recessed

lights, dovetail joints, heavy duty everything. The pull-out drawers are rated at 150 lbs and include automatic closures and the cabinet doors include soft-close hinges.
I should add that we also visited the shop to pick up various samples and to see our cabinets being made.

"The team included a Cabinet designer and speciality craftsmen. Those on-site demonstrated quality worksmanship/installer, neatness courtesy and arrived day on time. The "contractor" and lead man were always available for questions. Importantly, the "family" all likedwhat they saw."

"They did a great job. They were friendly and professional. Due to material not in time (granite) and one cabinet, they over passed the time limit by two weeks."

(Manager) offered us free in-home consultation, measurements, and emailed us 3-D/ 2-D diagrams of the new kitchen for us to review and change until we decided on a final design. She worked within our budget to come up with a great layout that turned our eyesore of a 1970's kitchen into a modern, functional, beautiful one.

estimated that it would take at least 5 days to complete the job and A1 was even able to begin work on the weekend (Saturday) to help with our scheduling time off work. For our remodel A1 had a two person team show up. One person was the lead cabinet installer and the other one was an expert with the granite counter-tops. These two guys worked from morning until evening for 4 days straight! Make sure you have an area for them to do their work ( finishing carpentry, cutting/ polishing of the granite counter top, etc.) All of their messes were cleaned at the end of their shift each day. Their work ethic was amazing and because of this, the job was actually finished a day early! Yea! Remember that the days spent at home can be long while remodeling, but it is well worth it after seeing the end result.

"The remodeling project generally went well and according to schedule. There were a couple of glitches in communication that caused a slight delay in the schedule. There were a few times when there was a mix up in communication between the contractor, the homeowner, and the tradesperson. These were always straightened out, but caused a slight delay or a need for a call-back. The quality of the work was excellent and the employees of the contractor were conscientious, careful and thorough.
The contractor has had many years of experience and has worked with the same tradespeople over the years. The relationship that he has built with them is a valuable resource to the homeowner.

"The two employees who arrived to do the work were completely professional in their knowledge of the installation of the
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
shelves and the creation of two new drawers in the space between the stovetop and the shelving under that. They laid out their tools on material to protect our kitchen floor and then went to work. For a little while I watched them and the installation to be sure that things would look like I had pictured. Then I could tell that they were totally competent, know exactly what they were doing, and I went on doing some other things for a while.

In what seemed like "no time at all," they were done! The
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
shelves in the pantry, the two new drawers just below the stovetop with drawer-fronts constructed using the "dummy" panels which had been there (so that the drawer fronts matched the rest of our cabinet doors), and the full-width
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
shelves beneath the stovetop and new drawers... all of it done -- and -- the kitchen spotless without any
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
of materials left where they had been working. I love it when workers clean up after themselves, and these two men left the kitchen spotless!

What a joy! And after several years of using the
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
shelves and the new drawers, they are still working just as well as they did when they were new! They glide so smoothly and silently that one would think they had come with the house! Whenever new friends come to visit, I show off my kitchen with the
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
shelves and tell them all that they should have them installed in their own kitchen, too.

I plan to use this company again later this year to install a few more
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
shelves to make access to kitchen pots, pans, and utensils easier in two more kitchen cabinets.

"We moved out in September 2009 after the plans were submitted to the city. That process usually takes 2-3 weeks but the city took 2 months to approve the plans, mostly due to being short-staffed. Almost the entire house was gutted down to the studs and about 21 pillars were added under the house for stability. We encountered very few problems but when we did, full attention was given to addressing it as quickly as possible.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was our site manager and was a jewel to work with. No matter what, he was always calm and very knowledgeable. He always treated us with respect and no matter how many times we called him, he never appeared irritated or annoyed.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
has it's own electrician,
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
(who was very good and made many good suggestions for things we hadn't previously considered), a plumber, tile man and cabinet maker,
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was such a perfectionist and skilled craftsman. He takes great pride in his work and it really shows. If something was off by 1/16th of an inch, he wasn't happy until it was right. We are proud to show off his work.

As far as the sub-contractors enlisted by
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, the only sub-contractor that we were not happy with was the painter. We felt that both the exterior and interior paint jobs were definitely not up to the
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
standards. After the exterior was completed and we inspected it with the sub-contractor, we started on the front porch and the list of corrections and the "blue" tape was so extensive, that the sub-contractor finally said it was a lousy job and he must not have done a very good job of checking up on his workers and he would have them re-paint it. Even after the re-paint, there were still many problems that had to be fixed. On the interior, in the rooms that were strong colors, not neutrals, instead of putting a little paint on the walls and letting us look at it (which is what we thought was going to happen), he painted the entire interior. The guest room and the master bedroom colors were so different from the little paint samples we had looked at, we were shocked. The guest room was suppose to be a light lavender and it was almost purple and the master bedroom was suppose to be a soothing green and it turned out to be closer to neon green. Everyone that saw it couldn't believe we had chosen those colors. Even though he had only put on one coat and it still needed the second coat, he gave us an additional bill of about $1500 to repaint the two rooms, which didn't even include the ceiling or trim.
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, the owner of The
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, being the consummate professional that she is, stepped in to handle the issue. We became aware a short time later that
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was no longer using that sub-contractor.

The workers were careful about doing as little damage as possible to landscaping, etc. and cleaned up after themselves on a regular basis. The communication with all members of the team was close to flawless.

We moved back in almost a year after moving out and are thoroughly enjoying the new space. A testament to the dedication of the entire team, there are only a few minor things we would do differently.

From our first encounter with the owner,
San Jose Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, to working with her team of dedicated, experienced, thoughtful and caring individuals, our decision to use this company never wavered. We have had individuals we don't know, come up and talk to us when we are outside and tell us they watched as the house was being worked on and comment that it turned out beautiful and that the second story we added looks like it was always there. One of our goals was that the addition of the second story not look like a "box" set on top of the original structure and it doesn't. We are so pleased with the finished product, that we have invited some of those individuals who stop by to compliment us on the remodel, to come in to see the inside, even though we don't know them. There have also been individuals who heard that we installed an elevator and have asked if they could see it and we invite them in, too.

We have had many individuals ask us who the contractor was and we do not hesitate to highly recommend this company.
