Picture Framing reviews in San Francisco

Overall things went very well.
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
was willing to hire my plumber and painter as subs. The work looks beautiful and
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
made sure if any mistakes were made, he had them fixed; for example, some cabinets were dinged by workers, the deck and steps had to be replaced in areas do to the same. Everyone went to extra mile to make sure I was happy with the results.

I needed to get rotting plywood "siding" replaced on one wall of my 1906 Edwardian, and needed to have the entire exterior repainted. And I needed to get it all done in about two months, before the rainy season.

After getting separate estimates from a handful of painting contractors and siding contractors, I found
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
based on his excellent Angie's List and Yelp reviews.
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
immediately impressed me with his ability to understand what I was asking for and help me translate that into what I needed.
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
's quote was not the cheapest, but it was fair -- and it was the most-detailed estimate I received from any of the contractors I spoke with. I plan to be in this house for a while and wanted work that would last, and
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
gave me the confidence he could deliver exactly that.

San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
is the general contractor and directly employees his own carpenters. He subs out painting, demolition, and other work.
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
was on-site nearly every day, keeping an eye on the job, and he was in contact with me nearly as often. He was always easy to reach by phone and email, and returned messages promptly.

The work on the siding went more quickly and smoothly than I had anticipated. With an old house, you expect complications along the way -- and we ran into a few, but
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
worked through them and kept on schedule. Examples:
Vibration from the exterior siding removal managed to damage some of the interior plaster.
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
repaired and repainted the interior at his expense. The building inspector mentioned an upcoming code change that would require gypsum board on top of the plywood sheathing for fire protection. Since the code change wasn't in effect yet, the easy thing to do would have been to skip it.
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
presented the options to me, worked out the (minor) additional cost, and - most importantly - figured out how to fit in the additional work without impacting the schedule.
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
has some very talented carpenters working for him. We discovered rot in some of the detailed trimwork on the front of the house, and his carpenter
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
was able to fashion (on-site!) a replacement that is indistinguishable from the original - exactly matching the nearby trim.

The painting also got off to an outstanding start. The paint crew spent nearly three weeks doing absolutely meticulous prep work on the front of my house - scraping, patching, filling, caulking. They handled minor repairs themselves, and called in
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
's carpenters for a few cases where more significant repairs were needed (like the trim I mentioned above). Their clear attention to detail made me confident the paint job would last.

However -- and this is my only complaint about the entire project -- when it came time to paint the back of the house the work was not up to the high standards of the rest of the project. The prep work was not as detailed, and the painting itself was sloppy -- e.g., the painters didn't bother masking the metal roof of an overhang, and it got covered with overspray; there were also a number of places where the paint was bubbling and cracking. When I complained to
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
, he got the problems corrected promptly (and this is one reason I feel
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
is absolutely deserving of an A rating for the entire project). It just seemed surprisingly out of character compared to the "do it right the first time" approach that
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
's subs delivered on the rest of the job.

San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
accommodated my requested changes along the way -- including a late decision to change from cedar siding to HardiePlank, and some added interior painting as long as the painters were on site. Costs for the additional work were reasonable and at exactly the rates in
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
's original quote.

One more nice touch:
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
called me several months after the job was complete, specifically to ask how the paint was holding up on the back of the house where I'd had the problems described above. It's great to find that level of accountability and follow-up in a contractor.

The experts at

San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
and his crew is steeped in experience with an 'eye" for displaying art in the best way possible. This in not discount framing--it is expert framing, and will please the discerning customer.

The best buy in framing. Quality materials but reasonable pricing. The selection is better than that at do-it-yourself shops.

Staff at
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
are very helpful. They carefully explain the differences in the glass that they carry and help the customer to make the best selection for their piece of art. Pieces were promised in one week and were ready in one week. Framing was beautifully done, and they even included hangers to put the pictures up with.

The glass broke on my original frame. I went to
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
brother to get it fixed. I ended up purchasing a new frame. The were very helpful in installing my matted picture and took the time to clean the frame. In the end it looked great, but upon closer examination they left a hair in the frame.

After purchasing our new home we decided to add a ground level 1 bedroom apartment roughly 1000 square feet. The available space required some dirt removal to be able to build the appropriate apartment. After receiving several quotes me and my husband decided to go with
San Francisco Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
. They walked us through the building process and helped with the permits and the architect. the project took just about 2 months to complete. The house has a side entrance to the backyard so we never felt that the house was under construction, the workers were really nice and respectful to our property and us. I am not a construction expert but will do my best to explain what I saw. The build started with removal of the excess dirt to start the foundation for the apartment. Then came the framing and the floor, fallowed by the electrical and the plumbing work. Sheetrock was hung, patched, and painted. In the bathroom we decided to install tile, with all the appropriate accessories. the bedroom has a closet and a window, which was cut open in an existing wall and reinforced. The entire apartment has hardwood floors in each room except for the bathroom. The were even able to install a door in the back of the apartment and create a small storage space, really neat. The kitchen and the cabinets created very nice kitchen with black marble counter top. The entire apartment received 4 windows, front door, and a patio was built in front of the door in the back yard. We even asked if they could rebuild our fence which was falling apart at the time, so they agreed and gave us a fairly cheap price, since we were already doing the apartment they gave us a deal. Overall me and my husband are very pleased with the experience, for the money we invested and the price increase on our house, this was well worth it.
