San Francisco Electricians Reviews

"I am a landlord of an Edwardian apartment building and I had tenants call me at 7:15 am saying that one of their four circuits had blown and would not turn back on. I made a panicked call at 8:00am when
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
indicates their hours start and left a message. Ten minutes later
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
called me back.
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
gave me a recommendation that might fix my problem [he said it could be that there was a fuse passed the circuit breaker that blew and it would be worth it check that] as had another appointment that morning and said depending on how that went might be able to see me around midday.
Fifteen minutes later he called me again and said that they were able to put off the other job until later and that they could see me first as the other was not as pressing. I was really grateful as the circuit that was blown was feeding the apartment's refrigerator and 1/3 of the apartment [yeah very funky old wiring] and we really could not live without it for long. At that point
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
told me it would be $225 for the first hour of two licensed electricians, then $200 an hour after that -- totally reasonable as far as I was concerned. He also said it is very unusual for a job to take more than a couple hours if it is just a repair, but if it turned into something more we would discuss that as necessary.

San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
and
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
were at my place and sluthing the breaker problem.
They were thorough and careful and unplugged everything we could find off the blown circuit. Within 1/2 hour it was confirmed it was the circuit breaker itself that was bad, they replaced it and were finished. $225 for the one hour visit, $40 for the new breaker installed. One hour and all done. Happy tenants, happy landlord. :D
P.S. I also picked their brains about the process for upgrading the electrical in the apartment and really appreciated how straight they both were about strategies and what might be involved. When it comes time I will definitely be calling them to do the work.

"A breaker had tripped in our electric panel and all of the power in one room was out. We tried to reset it numerous times but could not get it to turn on. We started to think it was a bad breaker, so I called
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
from work at about noon. Someone called me back within the hour, and agreed to meet me at home at 5:00pm.
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
showed up promptly at 5, quickly diagnosed the problem -- the breaker switch was sticking and not resetting properly. We asked if the breaker needed to be replaced, and he said no, we just needed to do it with more force. Another electrician may have used the opportunity to make more money. Since he was there we asked him to look another light switch issue we were having. He gave us an estimate on the spot, with a 10% discount applied, and promptly emailed us the official estimate the next day.

"I contacted this provider solely on the terrific ratings I read in this List. My first entry into the world of Angie's List.

Before I made my first attempt to contact this electrician, I was so excited that there was such an terrific electrician in the City - San
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
, California. I felt there was no need to
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
any further for a second or third estimates.

The first and second voicemail messages on separate days during normal business hours during the week did not generate a call back. I assumed the electrician and his crew were busy with business given their terrific ratings. The third voicemail message late in one week generated a response early the next week. After two phone conversations, he arrived late to give me an estimate.

I am not sure who really showed up in the unmarked gray pickup truck. The estimate for the 3 electrical jobs on site - nonfunctioning electrical socket in the lobby, nonfunctioning exterior wall security light, and a new indoor office installation involving a switch and lighting fixtures - gave me sticker shock. When I called about the written estimate, his answers left me even less inclined to hire him.

I did not hire him because I felt that this guy could not be bothered - either the three jobs were too small or too complex. His lateness in showing up to give me an estimate, especially since he chose the time and day - Monday morning at 10 am, and his overall unresponsiveness were deal breakers.

Either he was having a bad day - more like having a bad month since my initial voicemail message to the day I got the written estimate spanned several weeks - or the company is under new management, the ratings and my experience did not match. This guy was a bad experience for me.

I - not my wife
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
- write this review only now because the electrician who I eventually hired and completed an outstanding job gave me an opportunity to see an informed comparison.

came to the house to see work to be done and make an estimate. On time and knowledgeable.
Added conduit as needed to new outlet location. Arrived on time and reviewed work to be done then completed work in good time and left all work areas clean and well finished. Very pleased on all accounts and will certainly use him to do work in the future without hesitation.

"I was staying at my parent's house in San
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
during the Christmas holidays when their dining room chandelier went dark. I called
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
on Christmas Eve and arranged a service call for
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
26 (on their recommendation - they said it would be very expensive to come on Christmas Day and since we could work around the problem, I agreed). They arranged to come between 9 and 11 AM on the 26th. When 11 AM came and they hadn't arrived I called and was told that they were behind because of workers taking unexpected vacation time due to the holidays. They said they would call later to reschedule. At 6 PM the same day, when no one had called back, I called them and was told they were not able to reschedule at that time but would call me the next morning to arrange a day and time. I said that if they did not call early, I would find someone else. When no one called the next morning, I got another electrician who came right away, checked out the problem and replaced the switch. No one from
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
ever called me to explain or find out if I still needed the work done.
I understand when vendors have scheduling problems, but I find not receiving a call to explain and reschedule extremely unprofessional and annoying.
I would not use this company again.

"The apartment wherein the work was performed is located in a building that is nearly 100 years old. The electrical composition of the apartment's wiring included a mishmash of wiring including the original "knob and tube." The work was completed to spec and ahead of schedule . Protective sheeting was placed on the floor and on the tenant's possessions thereby minimizing the disturbance/inconvenience that the work created for the tenants. From the first contact I had with
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
( the owner of

), through the completion of the job , both
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
and his staff were skilled, punctual, communicative, and professional. I would and will use
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
again, and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and neighbors.

"It could not have been better. The communications, quality, punctuality and follow-up were superb. I didn't get a competing bid, so I suspect the pricing may have been a little high, but I'm not sure. In any case, it was well worth the money for what we got.

"B.M.H. gave me a detail list of work to be done and the estimate cost. My final bill was $50 less than the estimate. I had used the Angie list coupon. He completed the work in the time given to me, showed up on time, courteous, answered any all questions that I had about the project, Everything went smoothly.
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
left my garage/basement neater and cleaner than it was before they started :) The work passed the city's electrical inspection. I now feel safe and secure in my 103 year old house because of

"The install was a bit tricky because it required three separate fixtures in the ceiling that had to be connected off one switch.
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
warned me that he might have to cut extra holes in the ceiling to get pieces connected but he was able to do the work without leaving me any extra patching/painting. We had a diagram indicating how we wanted the sections hung and he did it exactly as requested. He was very polite, extremely competent and when the job was complete he cleaned up any debris and even helped me move the dining table back into place.
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
was able to do the work on very short notice and although we had to call to find out that the appointment time had been moved,
San Francisco Electricians Provider Name Locked
showed up exactly at the new time.

"The electrician showed up at the appointed time. It turned out that the lights did not work because the switch had a dimmer option (which I was not aware of) that had been turned all the way down. It took the electrician less than a minute to spot the problem. They charged $145. for showing up. I thought that was a little steep for doing nothing.
