"On Friday, August 8, I called
& Plumbing to set an appointment to get the filters changed on my reverse osmosis unit. I was delighted" to get a 7:30- 8:30 appointment the following Monday morning. Come Monday, nobody shows up between 7:30 and 8:30, so at 9:00, I called them to find out what happened. (I stayed home from work for an hour and a half waiting for them to come.) The man I spoke with did confirm that I had an appointment on the books for that time slot. He told me they must be running late and would I like them to call me? I asked if they could help me figure out what was going on, and the man said "No" because they were simply a scheduling business. Wow! Nobody could tell me what was going on! He asked if I'd like to get a call later from the company and I said yes. Much later in the day (about 3:00 pm) I received a call from a lady named Rosie. She left a message stating that I must have the wrong company and that I really wanted
and she gave me the number. I called back to try to get to the bottom of this odd situation and spoke with a different woman who, this time, could NOT find me on the schedule at all. When I explained my dismay with the poor business they were providing, she asked if I would like to have the owner call me back. I said yes. Rosie (not the owner) called again and did not have any explanation as to how they "lost" my appointment. She offered to send someone out the next day between 7:30 and 8:30, but I said no thank you. I couldn't afford to miss that much work when I wasn't convinced they would show up anyway. One other thing, their 800 # is not working. This really made me feel wary.

"Overall not a good experience. Wouldn't recommend. The overall price is expensive, even after discount. As mentioned by previous reviewer, they will try to" push you to sign the contract during the first appointment. Btw, they typically offer better discount in local magazine than here, say $700 vs $600. For the products, the water filtration should be able to filter chlorine and heavy metals. It's very matured technique used by all the water filter products on the
. They can't test whether heavy metal is removed, but they will do the
tests to check if the water still has chlorine. But here is the argument, the chlorine is added in the water to
bacteria, if the system removes the chlorine, then does the water filtered by the system still as healthy as they claim? Yes, the water right after the system is ok, but how about the water in the pipe? will the bacteria grow in the pipe? During the appointment, they claimed that their water system can generate water with well-balanced PH value, and they did the test for the water PH value, which is around 7.5. But actually later we figured out that the reason that PH value is good is simply because it is good even before the water system. We did the test, and the company staff came later and did the same test, we both found the PH value is about same before and after the water system. So basically the water system has nothing to do the PH value, you get what you originally get. For the hard water treatment, actually in the beginning, we didn't have plan to install hard water treatment, but during the appointment, they claim how bad the hard water is, and how good their product is, so eventually we also bought the hard water treatment device. Bad decision!! They said the water in San
is very hard, which can clog your water pipe, damage your skin. But in terms of clogging water pipe, later when I talked with my friends, some guys, who have been living in San
for more than 30, 40 years and live in 1950s houses, said they never found clogged pipe and they don't even have any kind water treatment system at home. One guy mentioned he even cut the water pipe before, and found it's very clean inside. Ok, at least, it can still damage the skin. Well, is it true? It actually all depends on how good the hard water treatment is. As they claimed, the device can make the hard water "softer". However, as they mentioned during the appointment, the device changes the format of the mineral, instead of removing it. Thus the mineral is clearly still in the water in whatever format, the amount of the mineral is same. So where does the "make hard water softer" come from??? The water is hard or soft is only checked by the mineral amount, not matter what kind of format. Actually if you google their patent, which is highlighted in their website, the patent US 8157971 B2, "Electronic pool water treatment system" background mainly talks about the "de-scaling". Therefore, the system has nothing to do with the "water softening". What they claimed was very misleading!!

3 tips to select the best water treatment

Don't overpay for the wrong water treatment system. One highly rated provider offers some tips to help you choose the right system for your home.

Water softeners

Even if your tap water comes from a reservoir, chances are it previously passed through underground caverns where it absorbed mineral deposits. Water with a high concentration of minerals is referred to as "hard" water. It's safe to drink but can harm your plumbing and appliances.

Angie's Answers

I actually just replaced my Pelican Natursoft "water softener" with an more-traditional ion exchange model.  I used the natursoft for a little over 4 years, and I can say it worked as advertised.  When remodeling a while back we decided to get a tankless water heater.  All the documentation indicated that hard water with the tankless heater is a no go.  We had to do somehting, but since I'm lazy (didn't want to deal with the salt or plumbing in a drain) and my wife didn't like soft water, the salt-free model looked attractive.  I too was somewhat skeptical, but the reviews I found looked good, and I know enough about the science of nucleation (I was a material science major in college) to know that what they said made sense, so I bought one.

One thing needs to be made clear - the natursoft system is NOT a water softener!  It contains a media which nucleates some disolved metalic salts out of solution.  These crystals, once formed, remain in the water, and still react with oils, detergents, etc. in the same manner as the disolved salts.  They also continue to form scale wherever water is allowed to evaporate, such as faucet nozels and shower heads. In fact, it's possible that evaporative scaling was even worse than before we installed the system.

Importantly, however, once in crystaline form, these salts do not stick to pipes, or in my case, heat-exchangers.  My tankless heater has a sensor to indicate when it needs to be descaled, and the manual indicates that for my water hardness and hot water use I should have had to descale approximately every 6 months.  In four years with the natursoft the descaleing indicator has never gone off.  For further evidence, when I installed my new softener a few weeks ago, I had to cut sections from the copper pipe on both the inlet and outlet side of the natursoft.  Both sections of pipe were installed at the same time as the natursoft, but while the pipe on the inlet side was green and rough on the inside, the outlet pipe looked and felt like new.

As such, if you want or need a salt-free system for some reason (low-sodium diet for blood pressure, don't like the feel of soft water, can't easily plumb a drain into the softener location, or can't carry heavy bags of salt to the softener), then I can unequivocably recommend the natursoft.  If, like my wife and I today, you want soft water, that feels soft on your skin, creates less soap scum, rinses cleaner in the dishwasher, etc., then the natursoft probably isn't for you.

Water Softener Installation And Repair reviews in San Diego

I called three different companies for estimates, and while Grant's estimate was the highest, I decided to go his company anyway.
When I called, I received a prompt response, and all of my questions were answered. I wanted my current tap water tested, and I wanted a first-hand recommendation for the best reverse osmosis system for my situation. Grant was the only one who visited my house to see what I needed.
On the day he visited, my tap water tested at over 600 total dissolved solids (TDS). I was pretty horrified and asked many questions for what needed to be done. Grant was very knowledgable and patient and answered all my questions. He saw my kitchen arrangement and suggested that he could even run a line to the refrigerator so that the ice maker would receive clean water. Then he showed me the options he could provide for systems, and for faucets. I was particularly happy with one system, the
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
, because I could easily change the filters myself, therefore avoiding additional service calls. He also offered to included a water meter that would allow me to monitor the effectiveness of the system over time. The other companies wanted to make annual or semi-annual visits to change the filters for me and obviously charge additional money.
Based on the fact that Grant made a house visit, was very prompt, communicated well by email, provided options from which I could choose, made relevant suggestions, and supported my desire to be self-sufficient, I chose his company. By changing the filters myself, I determined that I would break even with the cost after three years and subsequently save money. Of course,
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
will be my first call with any problems that the system may develop over time.
The system was installed quickly at my convenience. Not all parts were available for the extension to the refrigerator, but that was completed the following week with no prompting. The water meter delivered was tested and did not seem to be accurate, so it was returned. It took an extra call to have that delivered again, but that was a minor inconvenience. I've had no trouble with the system since installed.

we've used
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
several times now, and have always been pleased. I highly recommend them!

The estimate was given by the owner of the company, and included a 10 year warranty. I liked the fact that I was able to have a face to face meeting with him vs. meeting with a sales person. I had done my homework so I knew I wanted this type of system, & an approximate cost. His price fell in the middle of what I expected. I was able to schedule installation one week from the day I met with the owner.
The day of installation,
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
showed up on time and was quick, efficient, and very nice.
It is so nice to have water that tastes like water and not chlorine, and doesn't leave white hard mineral deposits behind!
I would recommend both the system and the company.

I was impressed with the service from start to finish. The quote and initial consultation was done by the owner which I appreciated the professionalism without the excessive sales pitch. Installation was great.
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
was very professional and friendly. The owner followed up with a call the next week to make sure we were happy. The final process was roughly 2 weeks after installation when someone came out to test the water and walk us through the process of draining our water heater. We were very happy from start to finish. A big plus for us is that the company offers a free annual inspection and a 10 year warranty.

First, they stopped debiting our checking account for our monthly service but each monthly statement kept stating pay nothing. Then, after our account went past 90 days in arrears in June of 2012 we received a very nasty and threatening letter of collection. This form letter stated that our account was now delinquent, that we would be referred to collection agencies if immediate payment wasn't sent and that our credit rating would suffer as we would be reported to the three major credit reporting agencies. So I immediately write a check for $91 and change and run to the post office to get it out in that days' mail. I then call them to tell them payment is in the mail and not to debit my checking account. I was told that they had recently changed billing systems and were still experiencing problems. They told me to ignore the collections letter and that all collections activities were being suspended indefinitely. I again request that our checking account not be electronically debited for
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
as we have made a payment by check via snail mail. Initially, their systems are down I was told and I had to call back to find this out. When I ask why this happened I am told that they are short-staffed in addition to the financial systems issue. I ask for a supervisor and she tells me the same thing and that they cannot call customers who got those collections letters as they do have have adequate staffing. I was flabbergasted and said that at the very least their business model is fatally flawed and needs extensive review and revision. So I get my
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
2012 bank statement and guess what? They cashed my check and now miraculously debited my account for the past due amount. I call on the 23rd of
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
, am told their systems are down once again and they will call me back when they are up again. On Friday the 27th I call them and say nothing asking if their billing system is available and I am told that they are. Then I give my account number and ask for billing. After a briefhold I get a billing
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
. To make a long story short I am told that they did double up on me and that I had a credit on my account. When I asked for a refund for the amount of the check I am told that my credit is only for two months as they charge in advance. When I inform the young lady to please send my that amount I am told that she has to check with her supervisor. I ask her to do so and that I will wait but she tells me she has to send her supervisor a message and that it will be some time before I get a response. So, once my account is current I am going to Home Depot, purchasing a R.O system and self-installing it. Once that is done I am calling
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
to cancel my service and have them come out and remove their equipment from my property.

I noticed a leak in my Whole House filter and contacted the plumber who originally installed the unit. After getting a lot of misleading information on service, warranty, and replacement cost, I contacted
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
. Not only did
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
arrive on time, but he roughly explained everything that he was doing and made a repair at a price far less than the original plumber qouted.

After speaking with several different companies,
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
, at
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
, was very helpful in answering the many questions that I had regarding water softeners and filters. With his aid we were able to determine which system would be best for my house and scheduled an installation date. The morning the install was scheduled his employee arrived on time with the supplies needed. In the end, it was clear that the installer knew how to do a good job. Overall
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
was knowledgeable,professional, and trustworthy.

For the price, I probably should have replaced the unit with one from
San Diego Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
. After the service was complete, I found a leak. The repairman failed to replace a washer and simply re-used the old deteriorated ones.(I think he forgot to bring new ones.)I fixed it myself after he left. He did a lot of cursing and throwing of tools when he thought no one was watching.
