Veterinarian Reviews in San Diego

I have never written a negative feedback for Yelp before, although I have been writing feedback for the site for at least five years. I tend to want to think upsets over for a while, and do not like the idea of slamming someone's business. So, in general, I will give my feedback to the business owner in person, or simply leave a neutral (even that I do with hesitancy). However, I am amazed by the treatment I received from the
, and feel that I must write about it, since it is so far out of my range of normal experiences.
I made, with great difficulty, appointments for six of my animals at this facility. I say difficulty because they make it nearly impossible to connect with them on the phone, and only use emails, which they sometimes answer in a timely fashion, and sometimes do not. I waited for the first email for almost a week.
Each initial consultation with one of my animals would have cost $275, so we are talking about an initial outlay for me of $1650. However, I have no issue with that, since I am sure the veterinarian, Dr.
, spent extra years obtaining her training. I simply mention it because spending this type of money right off the bat at a facility would normally mean that the people treated you at the very least like a potentially valuable client.
Then, because of health challenges I faced, and a business issue, I had to cancel twice, once many days in advance of their 24 hour cancellation policy, and once 31 hours in advance. At that point, I received a very cool, almost frigid email, in no way acknowledging that I was going to spending $1650 just for initial consultations, let alone what else in the next few months, but instead demanding that if I wanted to bring that particular animal back, I would now have to pay cash well in advance simply to have an appointment scheduled. At this point, I have not, nor did I ever, cancel any other appointments, and have been emailing back and forth for two weeks or longer simply to secure the appointments I have, since it sometimes takes days to hear from these people.
If that had been handled more respectfully, I probably would not have said anything, and would have just paid their demand, but it just rubbed me the wrong way that a client would be treated in such a cavalier fashion. The email really made it sound like I was in grade school and facing detention.
So, I asked them to review the policy, as I was not simply cancelling due to whim, or even an every day issue, which could have been easily dealt with, but for a serious health concern which demanded a surgery, and a vital business issue that could not have been changed. Again, at this point, I simply felt disrespected, and would have settled for some sort of sincere acknowledgement that my business was valuable to this office, that they knew I was not a deadbeat. Frankly, my time is also quite valuable, and I had already invested a great deal of it filling out detailed questionnaires, and, as part of those questionnaires, had written about having volunteered for animal causes and shelters. These people also knew that all my animals were rescues, so they knew that a.) I was a serious animal person, and b.) I am a nice person who is willing to spend thousands to help animals.) The funny thing was that I had already told another friend about this place, and she was also going to make an appointment to come in and bring her pet to see them.
Instead if acknowleging that maybe circumstances are different for different people, and that an unavoidable and last minute surgery, for one thing, might constitute a good enough reason to cancel an appointment, Dr.
sent me a dismisal letter stating that she did not want my business, and cancelled all of my appointments. Since the fuss had been because of my surgery, she knew I was having that surgery and that this letter would arrive a day or so afterwards my operation. She could have emailed me last week, when this would not have been so upsetting, and when I could have arranged to make an appointment with another veterinarian who actually will make appointments by phone without a delay of three days and who actually values their clients. Instead, this appears to be another one of their significant, if small, acts of thoughtlessness.
I have always gotten along famously with every veterinarian I ever worked with, but I am now realizing that I probably just had a lucky escape with these people. There are plenty of other holistic vets in the area, as is acknowledged by the list they sent me. If you like being valued as a client & treated with respect, I highly recommend you go to one of the following holistic vets instead, which Dr

This is the best Vet clinic! Our 8 year old Yorkie has been going there for approx. 4 years. They love animals and truly care for them. They listen to the owners concerns and go over all options before rendering services. This last visit, our Yorkie was having stomach problems and they quoted almost $600.00 for tests and meds. This was a little steep for us so after talking it over with the Vet, we decided to go with just the meds and see how our Yorkie responded in a couple of days. The nurse called to check up with us the next 2 days and our doggie recovered. They have a customized website just for your pet, they email you food recall alerts and sent Happy Birthday e-cards on your pets special day. They understand the needs and concerns of pet parents. You'll love them!

cared for our aging, beloved cat Peechee during the final years of his life, and we're so grateful for everything she did for him and for us both in sickness and in health. She was caring and knowledgable in the ways that you always hope your vet will be, plus her mobile services gave us peace of mind since our cat always hated going to the vet. Booking appointments with her was convenient, and she was always pretty available by email or phone. When our cat became very ill, Dr.

facilitated specialist referrals for us and communicated very openly with us about our options and what to expect. Overall, she was the best friend we could have had through caring for a sick pet, and the best doc, too. Her bedside manner is incredibly kind, caring and sensitive.Best vet ever.

It cost $25 for each dog’s vaccination, so I spent $50 for both the dogs. Dr. Satowski is the veterinarian there, and she does follow-up calls and checks on me, which I really like. She gets down and talks to the dog, and she has a good repertoire, which I like. She has a good rapport with the dog, and I also like the staff there, they are very gentle with the animals. On pricing, she is not the cheapest by far, but she is not the worst either for the area. Her punctuality is not so good, we always end up waiting.

I went on a Thursday afternoon, and it was fairly quiet. I got right in to an examining room, where the technician took vitals and background of my cat, Moxie. Soon after, Dr. Hibser came in, did the examination, gave shots, and provided some tips. It was a very comfortable experience for both Moxie and myself.

The receptionist had no personality, handed me paperwork to fill out and that was it.The appt was 15+ min late with no explanation, the waiting room was small and very worn. This made me look closer at everything! The Vet was very personable but I would be very hesitant to have any work done at this business due to cleanliness, worn equipment (the table that animals were to be treated on was wobbly) and the lack of communication from staff.

One of our cats is currently recovering from renal failure and has to receive 200 ml of intravenous hydrating solution daily. Normally, we take the cat to our regular vet, but they were closed for both the Christmas and New Years holiday weekends. Although we were told we could skip one day of treatment occasionally, we could not go for either of the entire two weekend holidays without giving her the IV fluid. Our vet suggested that we take our cat to

On Sunday, Christmas Day, we took our cat to AERSD around noon. We spoke with
San Diego Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
at the reception desk, provided her with the bag of LRS (Lactated Ringer's Solution) that our regular vet had given us, and explained that we needed to have 200 ml of the LRS given to our cat. I also brought a copy of our vet's recent files on our cat so that the AERSD vet could look at them, if needed. Further, I explained that our cat was high-strung, could be very aggressive when confined, and was prone to bite without warning.

took our cat to AERSD's back room where she and Dr.

administered the fluids. Five or ten minutes later,
San Diego Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
returned our cat and said that (unlike the procedure at our regular vet) our cat did not need to be masked or restrained in any way, and received the fluids without any difficulties. The total cost for this service was zero -- no charge -- which was a very unexpected surprise. (We returned about an hour later to give

and Dr.

a box of Christmas candy as a way of thanking them.)

We repeated this procedure on Sunday, New Years Day. A different crew was on hand. This time we were asked to fill out some registration paperwork and pay a $35 charge for the service, which is what we pay for identical non-emergency service. I had expected to pay more. As with the previous week, we were told that no restraints were needed and that our cat behaved very calmly throughout the administration of the IV hydrating fluid.

AERSD's facility is very clean, modern, and obviously well maintained. It was clear from the service that we received, and from the demeanor of our cat following the IV treatment, that the staff is very gentle, caring, competent, and professional. The zero charge for our Christmas Day visit was a pleasant and unexpected surprise, and the $35 charge for the New Years Day visit was much less than I thought it would be.

While no one -- including us -- wants to make a regular habit of visiting an animal emergency clinic (since that implies that a pet is in distress), we find it reassuring that
San Diego Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is not only close to where we live, but based upon this experience, reassures us that the care of our pets, in a time of crisis, will be in good hands.

I love
San Diego Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
. They are not the least expensive vet office in town, but they do things RIGHT. They use the best anesthesia, the right medications. They are proactive about helping you find solutions. They are also open to alternative medicine choices, and will either provide some limited herbal remedies, or refer you to a holistic practice in town. One thing I love is that while I have a "main" vet that I work with there, because there are several, if I have an emergency, or if my vet is on vacation, I can still always get in to see someone. This is important as I have several animals and sometimes their needs just can't wait. Their office is clean, doesn't smell - the best I've been in in San

, and I've tried many. They are very caring and compassionate, and will spend the time talking to you if you need more explanation or information. When one of my dogs had major surgery, the head vet called me to follow up at 9pm, well after hours. I always feel like they have the best interest of my pets at heart. Because they provide higher quality and availability, they are definitely not the cheapest vet in town, so if you're looking for low cost, look elsewhere. But if you are looking for high quality care for your pets, good availability, a very clean/new facility and caring individuals, this is the vet for you!

Overall, it went pretty well. We have one cat that gets so stressed when he gets in a car that he pees all over himself and cries a very painful cry throughout the car trip. To prevent this agony is well worth the little bit of extra cost to have Dr
San Diego Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
come to our home. She recommended that we put the skittish cat in a small bathroom before she arrived. This makes sense because otherwise, he might hide when she arrived and it could be hard to get him to come out for his appointment. However, the stress of getting "locked down" resulted in him peeing and pooing all over the room when she arrived and went in. Next time, I'll just drag him out of his hiding place when the time comes. The exams went quickly and she is good with the animals. She is very professional, showing up on time and she called the next day with test results. We'll definitely continue to use her as our vet.
