San Diego Solar Panel Installers Reviews

B
"Excellent financing program and sales staff. Excellent office staff coordination with financing bank and SDG&E. Very poor project management. Communications w/customer after the sales contract is also severely lacking. Very difficult to impossible to get phone calls answered by anybody who can answer a question (excluding financing issues). A "sister company" did the actual installation. They did NOT show up on date SAofA said they would. However, when they did show up (when they were instructed to, but not when customer was told) the actual installation was exceptional. Absolutely no issues with the installation or the personnel doing the install work. Excellent workmanship. The construction plan was changed due to SAofA being unable to obtain the originally planned for PV panels. Increased panels 10% (different model) in the new plan which required install crew to modify the physical installation (to include individual micro-inverters vs originally planned single large inverter in garage). The NEW construction plan was NOT sent to city or SDG&E causing significant delays for re-inspections (city inspector would not sign off on an installation that was not in the plans --
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
, I wonder why) and repetitive administrative actions (SDG&E initially "denied" the "turn-on" request since what was installed was not what they had originally approved). Not insurmountable issues to be sure, but still caused a month of unnecessary delays, headaches and worry. All the issues were eventually fixed, but the lack of a single Project Coordinator (a single point-of-contact for EVERYBODY) assigned to see this project from inception to actual completion is clearly telling. Each office person assigned a task (

&

were exceptional) does their job extremely well; however, there is no single point-of-contact for the customer or vendors to go to if/when there is an issue/question. And no single Project Manager who could tell the office staff when things (the plan) change so they could have their tasks completed in advance. Multiple voice mail messages to Customer Service Rep (

) went unanswered. Bottom Line: SAofA needs to reorganize such that a single Project Manager is assigned to each individual project and it is that Project Manager who becomes the single point-of-contact for ALL parties involved and is the primary person responsible for the timeliness, accuracy and quality of the entire project. Once the sale is made, SAofA needs to greatly improve communications and coordination on the execution side of things.

, from Btaker, was just so much more professional it turned out to be a no-brainer. I chose the 20 year prepaid lease and am very happy about it. After some delays, not too great, the system was tyrned on

"Mr.
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
Krals of SolarCity came to my residence and spent 1.5 hours with me explaining the different types of solar system design, analyzed my energy consumption, and designed a system that would satisfy my requirements after determining the design constraints unique to my house. He thoroughly explained the differences between a power purchase agreement and an outright purchase of the equipment. I found him to be very pleasant to talk to, he was knowledgeable, and he answered all my questions at length and to my satisfaction. He provided me a complete estimate that went into significant detail on the proposed solar system.

"I was recently considering installing solar panels at my home, however I didn’t
know much about them so I wanted to hear directly from the source some of the
advantages and disadvantages. I called up
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
and made it clear I was not
interested in purchasing at the moment and that I just wanted some information...more /> about their panels. The woman on the phone wasn’t rude at all and said she
would be happy to explain some of the advantages and disadvantages. We spoke
for about 15 minutes and she was very nice and I could tell she was being
honest, even about the negatives regarding solar panels. It reassured me that
this was a reputable business. When I do get around to installing solar panels
in my home I will definitely use
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked

"I started my research on Solar installers last summer. I sent feelers out to many of the folks on Angie's List, and all the well advertised big outfits. Even the guys that showed up on Google searches. I had a rough idea of what I wanted, namely Enphase Micro Inverters, and production that would take care of 95 - 100 percent of my electric costs.
The big guys are too big. They have fancy financing, and sales tricks. It kinda felt like timeshare presentations. Others refused to even consider Miicro Inverters. And my goodness, they were pricing things like it was 2008. There were some small guys too, but they just didn't have the experience or knowledge. Price is probably the most important, but knowledge is right up there.
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
and SDSI were one of the companies I had a good feeling about. A co-worker of mine had high regards for him too. No hard selling from the beginning. Just quotes and lessons along the way. Heck, He has taught half the solar people in
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
County! He knows what he's doing with solar. Design, installation, codes, etc… He's a solar contractor, not an electrician or electrical contractor. Big difference.
He's an artist when it comes to the design. The day he showed up to measure the roof he got up on top and asked, "Is it always this windy?" I told him it really wasn't very windy, and that it was pretty normal. He said "no way would I design it the way the other companies were suggesting. You put the panels that close to the
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
of the roof with this kind of wind, you're gonna have a problem". The wind
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
would have weakened the panel mounts, and even torn off the panels closest to the
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
. Its that kind of insight that separates him from the others. He's been doing it for years.
Now
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
is a huge Enphase guy which is a good thing for me. Probably the biggest in
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
, and he loves the Phono panels. I personally wanted something different in the panels and he was able to accommodate my request.
We decided in late October, my final system was going to consist of 30 panels, and the new m250 inverters. Thats about 15 more than my electric panel could support. Wanting to save a few bucks, I was able to get the panel upgrade done on my own. Didn't have to use
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
. In fact, he wanted it that way. Remember, he's a solar contractor, not and electrical contractor… Probably saved me $1000 bucks. He could have arranged it, but it worked out better this way
.
As soon as the panel upgrade was done, he had the materials delivered. The next week,
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
(the installer) showed up and in three days had the system installed and hooked to the electric panel.
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
is awesome. He knows things about installing that
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
hasn't even thought of yet. You put these two together, and you have if not "the best", certainly one of the best solar teams in Southern California.
Inspections passed without incident. However, getting permits and inspections from the City and SDGE were the slowest part of this whole process. When they let you down, it messes up the whole schedule, Just be prepared for that. These are about the only bumps in the road you will experience. We got the green light from SDGE on
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
31, but it was a nail biter.
Overall, its an outstanding system, and a very positive experience. Both
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
and
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
are as calm as they come. I preferred the email correspondence over face to face meetings. His quotes are nearly instant. You will be very surprised how aggressive he is with his pricing. Easily 30% less than the big guys. He works with
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
County Metropolitan Credit Union, so financing is available (and he pays the fees!!!). Anyone that asks me, I will recommend
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
and SDSI in a heart beat.

is very professional and knowledgeble, and was a great help. She tailored multiple qoutes for me with different options to meet my different solar energy objectives. Although I did not choose
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
for the project, she took the time to assess my needs and provide me very competitive quotes.
If I had only been installing solar,
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
would have been my choice. As it turned out, I also needed a roof and found a different contractor that had experience and great references in both solar and roofing.

"I had been putting off looking into solar for a long time. My neighbor had
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
install a solar system a few months ago and all they talk about is how much money they are saving on their utility bill. So I gave a call and had a consultant come out for a free solar design and consultation. The numbers made more the enough sense and I can t believe I had been putting this off for so long. They assisted with the financing, answered all my concerns. Inspection passed.

"We called 3 companies for estimates for solar panel installation at our home.
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
was the only company able to provide a complete system spec and a full estimate based on one visit. Other companies sent a sales rep who gave us vague and non-specific information, saying they needed to send a technician out for the next step. One company tried to sell us panels from a manufacturer who announced in March that they were getting out of the solar panel manufacturing business.
We decided on a lease as the best option for us. So we know exactly what our electricity will cost of the next 20 years.
There were some delays but they were the fault of the leasing company, not
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
. But
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
compensated us and other affected customers with a generous gift card. That was good for us and good for their reputation as tops in customer service.

San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
's sales presentation was horrible. The sales person, Zvi, did not respect our time constraints - we planned for an hour (and let him know this up front) and after two hours with no end in sight, my wife had to leave for an appointment. By that point Zvi had not provided us with any substantive information about system design or options and had no further interest in continuing with me alone or in answering the (many) questions we had. Zvi's attitude was condescending and aggressive. He insisted on going through his spiel and did not listen to us when we asked him to move on from topics with which we were already familiar, to topics that we wanted information on.
I was so frustrated by this encounter that I called his manager,
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
Stern, to complain but after three days of phone tag, I gave up.
I have delayed writing about this experience until we had completed our evaluation of systems and providers and made our choice. We evaluated nine providers and the majority were professional and helpful and listened. The
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
experience was by far (and it wasn't close) the worst.

"Our overall experience with Baker was excellent through all phases of the project. In the sales phase, they were responsive and provided options for us to consider as we evaluated different scenarios. They took the time to answer all of the detailed questions we had about every aspect of the system design and installation methods, etc. They were price competitive and low key through the sales process. We looked at approx 11 other providers and chose Baker because of their reputation, the professionalism of their approach, and the positive experience of some of our friends who also used Baker. Once the contract was signed, they executed the project flawlessly. Drawings were completed on time, permits were pulled quickly, and
San Diego Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
, the project coordinator, kept us informed all along the way. When it looked like we might cause a delay to their installation schedule because we needed to move a pool heating system, they moved their date out and then back in again without any fuss when that other work was completed on time.
The installation crew was professional and the work was performed neatly. Conduit runs were clean and electrical panel and meter installation was neat. After inspection and SDG&E authorization, the system was switched on and is operating without any issue.
All in all it was a great experience.
