Dr.
was recommended to me by one of his patients, who spoke very highly of him. When I went to him, I was in crisis. I explained that I had just moved to CA from NY, was on Disability for Anxiety & Depression, and been under the care of a psychologist in NY for many years, with whom I'd had a very close and beneficial relationship. Dr.
's area of expertise was Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, as was my previous therapist. All of the questions that Dr.
asked about my previous therapy were slanted in such a way as to cast aspersion on my former therapist. It became readily apparent that his approach is extremely formulaic, and he emphatically implied that any other approach (ie, my previous treatment) was ineffective, despite my explanation that the methodology he was spouting was counterproductive for me. He strongly recommended
Burns' Feeling Good Handbook, intimating that this was a sort of bible for proper therapy. I bought the book and began reading it and found it so strict and pedantic that it caused me considerably more distress than I already felt. My experience with Dr.
and his recommendations was so upsetting, it caused a major setback for me when I was already in very poor condition emotionally. I discussed my experience with both my former therapist (over the phone) and with my psychiatrist, and both assured me that Dr.
's manner & treatment were damaging, and I should not see him again.

He is nearly always right on time (unlike most of my other care providers). Dr. K is professional, friendly and competent. My health has improved since I started seeing him. He goes above and beyond what many care providers do (e.g., calling me at home when I forget my appointment), while also maintaining professional boundaries (e.g., stopping on time so that he is not late for the next person). I sense that he genuinely cares and am grateful for his help.
