Psychiatric Care reviews in San Diego

Recently, I came in one week after a particularly difficult time in handling the medication switch; he basically brushed off my concerns as "normal" and hurried me on my way. Overall, I don't feel like I am being treated for my problem, but rather medicated as the sole option for improvement. I really do believe that medication is a huge help, but with psychiatric drugs, it, at least in my case, is imperitive to take time to change things and to monitor their effects. Also to talk with me about more than just what "level" I'm feeling on a scale of 1 - 10.

is one of the few psychiatrists covered by my insurance, and I was relieved to find positive reports on him from some local consumer review sites as well as, more importantly, Angie's List. He is the first psychiatrist I have ever encountered whom I didn't want to throttle or institute proceedings to have his license revoked. When I went to him, I was in total crisis, and also very mistrustful as I had had nothing but horrific experiences with psychiatrists in the past. One of my previous psychiatrists had grossly overmedicated me for over a year, and did not keep records, so all I had were piecemeal notes on a small portion of what I had taken. After I sobbed out my story, Dr.

responded, "Well, I think my first priority is to not make you any worse." It was the most humane & reassuring thing a psychiatrist had ever said to me. He has a very kind, gentle, therapeutic manner. He listens carefully, is very thoughtful, patient, and really seems to understand what is being said. He has totally included me in all decisions about my care. I felt that what I was taking when I first came to see him was ineffective and he agreed to help wean me off that regimen, and then reviewed the mishmash of information I had about what I'd previously tried and the mixed-up notations of my reactions to some of it, and made some recommendations. He was very receptive to my researching what he recommended and we discussed side effects, efficacy, interactions and relation to other things I had tried in the past (including revisiting some of those regimens). He included me in the entire decision-making process without making me feel that he was throwing out a bunch of alternatives and leaving me on my own to choose what would be best. Over the course of a little less than a year, Dr.

has worked with me and managed to find a medication regimen that I believe is being beneficial for me, for the first time in my life. His manner is so open and reassuring, I wish he were a therapist as well! Any of the less-than-exemplary ratings refer to the organization for which Dr.

works (

The office staff is overworked and therefore unable to properly attend to the patients in person &/or on the phone. Scheduling is handled in a completely incomprehensible manner, and regular appointments are simply not permitted. I tried seeing a therapist who also operates out of that group in that location and the prohibition against making more than 3 appointments in advance, and the inability to have even those 3 appointments at a regular interval are completely anti-therapeutic. I discussed this difficulty with Dr.

I found him easy to talk to. He was willing to spend the full appointment time talking and was thorough with giving information for medications in question.
