"Parts were not available from distributor of service provider at time of my solicitation. Follow up on my part to mfg of grill ( Canyon)found" that replacement parts are available only from Chinese affiliate who makes parts only when there is sufficient demand for them. "These guys are great!! The service technician called ahead to let me know he was on his way and showed up shortly thereafter. He was very professional and got" right to work. The Tech quickly identified the issue and began with the repairs. It was obvious these guys know what they’re doing. The issue was that the prior owners had installed a propane grill to a natural gas line, so it wasn’t getting enough gas. Even though it was a small job the tech took his time and made sure everything was functioning correctly and didn’t try and find additional items to run up the bill.

Any time you're dealing with repairing or installing natural gas supply lines, I would definitely recommend hiring a plumber who has experience installing gas line plumbing. You can find local plumbers and look at their specialities on www.AngiesList.com (use the coupon code ANSWERS to get a 20% discount on a 1-year memership if you're not yet a member). The Yellow Pages are OK, but all they have is names and numbers of companies, not verified reviews from real homeowners who actually hired the companies like you'll find on Angie's List.

Good luck with your project!
COOL!!!  Someone who asks a question actually responds.  Rare.  Love it.  Let us know how things work out.

You have ruled out the truly fancy grills with your price range, but there are a lot of brands for $500 down to $150 with 4-5 burners.

What you want to do, because of the number of choices, if make a list of the characteristics you want, then go to a site that list a lot of them or lests you compare characterisitics, and maybe go to a few stores and look at them.

Then, after you have short-listed it down to maybe 5 or less, look for reviews. Angie's List does not review consumer products, but there are sites that do that, and of course Consumer Reports will have reviews (buy a subscription or go to your library).

Then, compare reviews and prices to decide. Remember to factor in shipping costs, if ordered.

Bear in mind the real economy ones may be made of "stainless", but you can bet most of the cheapest ones from Asia will start rusting fairly soon - if you want true quality "stainless" you are going to be in the mid to higher part of your price range.

If you decide on natural gas and do not currently have a grill using that, count in some plumber cost for a connection - from maybe $150-200 if close by the gas service in your house, can run to $500+ if you are goiing to be running pipe along the outside (or inside) of the house or basement to get to where you want the valve. Be sure to keep kids in mind - small kids love to open valves, so be sure to put it in a locked vented box if that is a concern. Ditto to plastic pipe (if allowed in your area) if you have chewing critters.

For a propane grill, bear in mind the cost of buying (or repeatedly renting) a couple of gas canisters and probably an extension hose.

When figuring where the grill will sit, ASSUME it will catch on fire some time - so for safety put it at least 10 feet from the house, and if the tank ever tips over and catches fire, 25 feet is the "safe" distance. Remember also, frequently using it within less than 20-25 feet will grease and smoke up the side of the house, making it slimy looking, and also requiring a lot more prep work before repainting.

Grill Repair reviews in San Diego

I cannot speak highly enough about . We had an old (10 years plus) built into an island in our backyard and it needed to be replaced. We called and they came to our house one day later, right on time. They discussed various purchase options with us and never pressured us to buy ...More a more expensive product or upsells. An extremely fair estimate was provided, which we accepted. They kept us in the loop when to expect our to be installed, they showed up on time to do the installation, did an excellent job on the install, cleaned everything up and explained all of the features of our new to us. Did I mention that their prices were extremely fair, and we ended up paying hundreds of dollars less than we expected for a better than we expected. Highly recommend.

The gentleman was courteous, and professional.
But when he saw the condition of my , rather than go ahead with the steam cleaning service, take the money and run, instead he gave me his honest opinion...which was, that a steam cleaning was potentially going to do more damage. :-(
My had rusted ...More through in a few places...and was in need of some replacement parts. The cost of the parts, and the cost of having them installed would exceed the cost of a new . He suggested I might be happier with a new , and a cleaned up old one, that still needed parts and service.
He was more concerned with me being happy with the service than he was with earning the 149 bucks.
He recommended that I scrap this one, and buy a new one. Advice that I decided was sound, and have since followed.
I have a lot of respect for service providers that recommend what's best for me...as opposed to what's best for their bottom line.
In this case, the guy, , had spent his own time (and gas) to come to my home, and ended up NOT having a job to do. I felt bad for him, but was NOT surprised by his assessment.
I appreciate his honesty.

was right on time. He explained what he could do for my barbecue. After inspecting and making sure everything was working properly, he went right to work. He thoroughly cleaned it and it was sparkling when he was finished! It's the first time I've had a barbecue professionally cleaned, and I plan to have ...More do this every year. It was a great "Big Deal" and well worth it.

We recently bought a house that was originally built in 1998, and the outdoor drill is original. It hasn't been used in ages, is old and looked like it needed to be overhauled or replaced. I called and he came out promptly to give me an estimate. He took a look at all the parts and said they could clean it up but it is pretty ...More old and the ignition needed to be replaced (which is so old then don't make them anymore) which would all be pretty pricey. He actually recommended we just replace with a new one and gave me a contact for the store and unit to purchase. Very nice, very professional, and estimate was free. Would definitely recommend these guys based on my interaction with , he was super nice and honest.

Someone initially came over to access if the barbeque was functioning first and also to determine if it needed parts. Then they let the customer decide if the repair and or clean is worth the customers time and investment or if they just want to purchase a new one.
They cleaned all of the grill parts, the grill itself and cleaned up. Because ...More the grill is built in and located on a patio, I was a little concerned about the plants, but they were careful. I have an old Ducane...a little one because I live in a condo and Ducane is out of business so parts are hard to come by. So the initial assessment to see if all is working was a definite plus.
